Scott Lang—who had been desperately trying to reason with the native tribe—froze, eyes bulging as if he'd just seen a ghost.
Cassie Lang was no better.
She stared at Alex in shock, completely dumbfounded.
He waved his hand—
and an entire group of warriors went flying?
This "Earth guy" was that strong?
---
"Kill him!"
"An intruder—destroy him!"
"Arm yourselves!"
The shouts multiplied.
More natives poured in from every direction, all armed, all furious.
Some had no heads.
Some had heads shaped like glowing lightbulbs.
Some didn't resemble humans at all.
But Alex could feel one thing clearly—
Every single one of them was seething with aggression.
---
"Oh no."
"This is REALLY bad."
Scott felt his scalp go numb.
His fellow Earthling had just kicked an entire hornet's nest.
---
"What are they saying?"
Alex asked, baffled by the native language.
"They think you're an invader," Scott groaned.
"Or worse—they might think you're working for him."
Alex sighed helplessly.
Language barriers were a pain.
But if that's how things were going to be…
---
ZAP! ZAP! ZAP!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The natives didn't wait.
A storm of energy blasts filled the air and rained down on Alex.
---
"Cassie! GET DOWN!"
Scott tackled his daughter to the ground.
These attacks were far beyond anything the two of them could handle.
And just like that—
their excitement at meeting another Earthling twisted into despair.
That Earthling was about to be vaporized.
Scott and Cassie watched helplessly as the sea of firepower swallowed Alex whole.
---
But then…
Something shocking happened.
The "dead man" didn't die.
Alex stood there completely unharmed.
Not a scratch.
Not a burn.
Not even dust on his clothes.
Like the barrage had been nothing but a mild itch.
---
BOOM!
Alex blurred—disappearing for a fraction of a second.
Then every native attacking him was blasted off their feet, launched backward like ragdolls.
They hit the ground in groaning heaps.
Unconscious.
Defeated.
Not one still standing.
---
Scott: "…"
Cassie: "…"
Father and daughter stared at each other—
then back at Alex—
utterly speechless, unable to process what they'd just witnessed.
This Earth guy…
what was he?
---
He had taken down dozens of heavily armed warriors…
in the time it took to blink.
Literally one blink.
---
"Dude… who are you?"
Scott finally blurted out.
"I know a lot of Avengers, but none of them are anywhere near your level."
"No—scratch that, the entire Avengers lineup, aside from a few monsters, can't compare to you!"
"How did you even knock them out? Super-speed? That was insane!"
Another chatterbox.
Just Alex's luck.
---
"I'm Alex."
He introduced himself with calm simplicity.
Alex?
Scott tried to remember the name.
Nothing.
But he quickly stopped caring.
A guy this absurdly overpowered needed no introduction.
Meeting such a top-tier Earthling in an alien dimension?
Scott was ecstatic.
---
"Alex! I'm Scott Lang—though I guess you already know me."
He grinned and gestured to his daughter.
"And this is my daughter, Cassie!"
Alex glanced at Cassie.
She's really grown.
He thought privately.
---
"Oh! Right—important thing."
Scott suddenly snapped back to seriousness.
"Alex, these people aren't bad. You just startled them. They're extremely sensitive because of… well, circumstances."
"This was just a misunderstanding. I can try to explain it."
"But PLEASE—don't fight unless you absolutely have to, okay?"
---
Alex chuckled lightly.
"If I actually wanted to fight, they'd all be dead."
The words sounded arrogant—
but Scott and Cassie both felt a cold, honest chill.
He wasn't bragging.
They knew he wasn't bragging.
Those natives lying on the ground had been spared.
That was mercy.
---
Before Scott could say another word, he noticed movement—
A tall, imposing woman and a dark-skinned warrior were marching toward them with a squad of armed fighters.
Their presence radiated command.
Scott instantly recognized them:
Jentora — a fierce and highly skilled warrior.
Quaz — a telepath, able to read truth regardless of language.
Quaz was the reason Scott and Cassie had been allowed to stay in the tribe at all.
They had passed his "truth test."
---
"Alex… their leaders are here."
Scott whispered nervously.
"Let me explain everything, okay?"
Without waiting, Scott jogged toward them, forcing a friendly smile.
"Hey, Jentora! You look great today!"
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Several spearmen immediately lowered their weapons, blocking him.
Scott raised his hands.
"Hey whoa whoa—easy!
This is all a misunderstanding, okay!?"
---
"Lang."
Jentora's eyes narrowed as she surveyed the unconscious warriors littering the ground.
Shock.
Anger.
Caution.
And something else—
fear.
"Who is that man?"
She stared sharply at Scott.
