"Did you think I wouldn't know it was you who stole my mother's purse huh?" I beamed as I heavily smiled at the now horrified thieves.
One of the men quickly turned back to me .
"I-I'm so sorry. We had no idea. W-We never knew she was your mom." The man stumbled as he quickly threw my mom's purse in front of me.
I quickly looked between the two men who were continuously apologizing and I couldn't help but feel a
stride of pride as the two buffed-up men
were now practically on their knees at the
fact that I may or may not somehow punish them for what they did.
But I wasn't in a good mood to punish them today. Then I realized what leaving without punishing them would mean.
'I know what to do' I said to myself
Marie my best friend was right by my side folding her hands watching the drama.
"Listen up scallywags you will do a frog jump to your apartment is that understood "
The two men were taken aback by my words they probably wasn't expecting me to let them go so easily. They stood staring at each other's eyes confused.
"I won't repeat myself"
"Y-Yes" They quickly nodded.
"Then start now"
They spent no time in jumping off to their apartment.
I turned to see a confused Marie staring intensively at me.
"Why the fuck did you let them go I've you forgotten they are thieves and it's your mother's purse they had stolen?" She bellowed at me as soon as they were gone.
"I'm not in the mood today okay?" I said hoping that this conversation will be over but who was I kidding. Marie will definitely want to get the truth out of me and that is why I never hide anything from her.
"Common tell me Kathy what is wrong" She asked concern.
Well a lot has been on my mind lately. My family are struggling financially.
We are in a lot of dept and I don't have anything to do about it. People always see me as a strong woman in my street but what they don't know is the little weakness eating me up each day.
I want to help my family but I have no idea how to do that. I have a degrees that doesn't help at all. My parent manage to pay my college fees but now that I'm supposed to be a financial support to them no one wants to employ me, everyone thinks I'm a trouble maker and will ruin their business.
But the truth is I'm not. I just hate being cheated and people misbehaving with me or others but they all fail to see that I was only helping.
The rumors about me isn't what anyone would like to hear at all, they have all misunderstood my behavior.
"Marie I have so much on my mind right now"
She already knew what was bothering me cos I don't hide anything from her so she kept quite and we continue our journey home.
We were on our way home, suddenly a black sport car ran past us and splashed a dirty water on me without even stopping to apologize.
If I decided to punch the guy's face whenever I see him everyone will call me a trouble maker not even caring about what happened.
I shook much head and dust my blue jeans a little.
"Can you imagine that weirdo" Marie said irritated.
I just rolled my eyes and continue my journey.
We arrived at my house.
I met my dad sitting on the sofa in the living room engross in TV. I went to him and gave him a light kiss on his both checks.
I love him so much. He is the only one who understands me a lot unlike my mom.
"Hey dad" I said with a smile
"Welcome honey" He said still watching TV.
I went to my room,had my bath and changed into a lemon green short gown stopping on my knees. I have brown eyes and a brownish long straight hair.
I went straight to the kitchen knowing my mom was there. She was so busy cooking she didn't even realize when I came in.
"Mom I got the purse" I said stretching it forward to her.
She collected it, open the purse and smile.
"At least you are a little useful in situations like this"
I rolled my eyes and carry a tray filled with vegetables with a chopper on it.
My mom is this money lover kind of woman and at times she can say silly things just to make you cry and feel bad but I was not someone who shows people her weak point.
And my father. He is a total opposite of my mother. He is caring, supportive and loving.
She collected the tray from me.
"You don't have to do that go and get me carrots and cabbage from Net I want to make salad"
"But mom why didn't you get them when you went there"
"Cos I forgot okay, so get it fast. Go now"
I dropped the knife on the kitchen counter and left to the sitting room meeting Marie who was busy chatting with my dad.
"Let's go to Net Marie, I have to get somethings there"
She stood up and I said goodbye to my dad before leaving.
We got to Net shop and I spoke to her telling her what my mom sent me.
Net is my mom's close friend and she sales vegetables in her small shop and some other food stuff in my street.
We walk back home since it wasn't far. The little bag containing carrots and cabbages that I carry in my hand was giving me a hard time.
It was too small to contain it and I almost trashed it on the ground but lucky I caught it.
Just as I was about to look up a very hard wall hit me and I almost feel but regain my posture immediately.
I glance at the wall which happened to be a very handsome Greek god staring angrily at me. He has green eyes and a shiny black hair which had a lot little in the front.
Normally I would have yell at him but I was short of words I just stood staring at his handsome face.
He was putting on a black fitted suit with a black shiny shoe.
"Hey" He waved his hand in front of me snapping me out of my thought "are you done drooling"
Okay so you hit me and you are even rude to me
'That's cos you were shamelessly drooling over him' much subconscious snapped at me.
"Are you even listening dummy you just dropped my phone on the ground do you know how much it cost?" Of course you don't cos you can't actually afford something like this"
He started at his phone on the ground as if showing me the mess I made which he actually make himself.
Who does he think he is to speak to me like that. How dare him?
"Who do you think you are to talk to me like that..."
"I'm your worst nightmare baby doll" He cat me off
"I know girls like you okay, you are always trying to have your way with any rich guy you meet right ? that's what poor people like you do" He said smirking
I swore on my mother's life I so badly want to punch that smirk off his face. How could he talk to me like that?
I was hurt. I was raging but I couldn't do anything I couldn't even defend myself.
This have never happened to me before. I want to speak but my mouth refuses to open I just kept staring like a fool.
Everyone in the street are already outside watching the whole drama.
"How dare you talk to my friend like that you were the one who wasn't watching where you are doing and dropped your phone so why the fuck are you even blaming her"
"Really? And why are you speaking for her why can't she speak for her if she t think so" He pursed " Oh let me guess cos what I said is true huh"
'Say something please Kathy show him what you are made of ' my subconscious begged.
My mouth isn't opening
"That's not true" She came forward, gazing at me. "Say something Kathy" She shake me by the shoulder but I was numb.
"She's got what she deserve she's such a troublesome woman she couldn't even get a job because of her arrogance"
I heard someone said behind.
The people gathered started murmuring stupid things about me and there was noises everywhere.
I have never been this humiliated in my entire life until now no one has got the gut to say anything in my presence but now it's like they have all been given a one time opportunity to say whatever they like in front of me.
"Let me tell you something dummy don't ever think a miracle will happen and we will have anything to do with each other, that will only happen in your dreams and besides I don't need the phone anymore but you will need it so it's all yours"
Who says I want anything to do with him. And then I remembered it was all my fault I was stupidly drooling over him that's why he's got words to say.
He arranged his black fitted suit and was about to leave when I pull his arm back.
"You insulted me in front of everyone and you think you can get away with it" I laugh and clapped "bravo bravo you've done great, just great" I said dramatically.
I pull his collar close so he can look into my eyes and see very bit of anger inside of me.
"I will make sure you regret every single word you said today mark my words. You will pay dearly for this I promise"
I felt his collar and left them place with Marie following behind.
