Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 falling into a Deeper Nightmare

As I raised my head to look at the man, a gasp almost escaped my lips. Being stunned was an understatement as I gawked at him without blinking. The man holding me was like a Greek god, one that had just stepped out of an ancient painting. My lips parted in awe, his handsomeness outshining even the brightest stars. Compared to him, the celebrities from my world were mere flickers in the dark.

His gaze was so imposing that it made my heart stutter in its cage, his raven black hair was elegantly combed back from his face, with a few strands falling over his well-sculpted face. Everything about him screamed masculinity and perfection. But how could someone be this handsome? This here, was exactly my type of man. He was so breathless!

However, this ethereal, stunning man was glaring down at me so hard that all the hair on my body stood at their ends. His dark, cold eyes were hostile and had a look of arrogance, as if I was nothing but dirt in his presence.

"Scram." The displeasure and authority in his voice made me flinch back. My hands loosened from his shirt before I took a few steps away from him. The power in his voice was enough to make any man fall on their knees in submission.

My lips parted to apologize, but those irritated glints behind those eyes, as if he was about to snap my neck any minute from now, made me shut my mouth.

"Alpha Damon," a voice echoed from behind him, making me flinch. My body tensed, recognizing the terrifying voice of the werewolf who had been chasing me.

Damon, the cold, imposing man before me, glanced over his shoulder, acknowledging the other man with a slight tilt of his head, as if merely giving him his attention was a generous act.

"I apologize for the disturbance. The omega in front of you… belongs to me," he said, his gaze glinting with possessiveness.

My body went cold as my eyes met his. Behind him were other werewolves. Right then, I knew that if this ice stone decided to hand me over to him, it would be over for me. My eyes darted between the man and the one who had been chasing after me.

"Is that so?" Damon asked, his gaze momentarily sweeping over me before returning back to the other man.

"It seems like she is too much for you to handle." Damon said, with amusement dancing in his eyes as his gaze flicked to his injured hand. This made the other man who had been chasing after me grit his teeth in shame.

The tension in the air was so thick that it made me fidget with my hands. For some weird reason, I couldn't utter a word of defense for myself.

My mind was busy thinking of how to escape, in case if this Alpha Damon decided to hand me over to that bastard. My eyes wandered around the open space, the gate was too far away, my heart began to beat erratically in my chest.

Then, to my horror, Damon stepped aside. The werewolf lunged, his rough hand clamping around my wrist like a shackle. "You b**ch," he snarled, yanking me toward the house I had just escaped from.

In my desperation to escape, my eyes flicked to the cold man, but he coldly turned his attention away from me.

Knowing that I had no one to help me. "No! Let go of me!" I cried, my nails digging into his arm, but a brutal backhand silenced my screams. Stars exploded in my vision, and the world spun for a moment. Pain throbbed in my jaw as tears blurred my sight.

He grabbed my hair, pulling me harder. My feet pushed back against the ground, my hands wrapped against his. He was pulling so hard that tears streamed down my cheeks, I feared that I might go bald from the aggressive pulling.

'Someone save me,' I cried inwardly.

"Stop right there!" An angry and powerful voice echoed from behind us.

My hair immediately stood up on end, fear gripping my heart. But this wasn't my feeling, it was more of a reflex. A reaction that belonged to the former owner of the body.

He immediately loosened his grip over me. His fingers trembling beside him.

"Alpha…" before he could finish his words, a blow landed on his face, pushing him a few steps backward.

I slowly lifted my head, right then, my eyes landed on a man who seemed to be in his fifties. His short brown hair was streaked with grey, his brown eyes held so much wrath, and I could see that he was trying to suppress his anger.

Beside him was another man who seemed to be around the same age as him. He had black hair with black eyes.

My heart fluttered with slight relief, but the feeling of dread down my spine told me not to rejoice yet. His gaze fell on me, however disgust and irritation replaced that anger.

He moved, walking closer towards me. When he got closer to me, his calloused hand forcefully pulled me closer by my jaw.

He turned my face to the left and right as if he was assessing a damaged goods.

A hiss of annoyance escaped from his lips. "I have told you before that you should keep your son under control," he said, facing the other man, fury burning in his eyes.

"I apologize for my son's actions, Alpha Caelen," the man said with a bow, glaring at his son with a promise of punishment.

"I apologize, Alpha. It wasn't intentional. I just wanted to prove how much I love your daughter," he lied through his teeth.

'Daughter? Does that mean that he is my father?' My eyes flickered back to him again. 'At least I'm safe for now.'

"I didn't say you can't show her love, what I'm mad at is you hitting her. Not only that… you hit her on her face." His words were like a bucket of cold water poured over me. My breath hitched as I stared at him in disbelief.

"Tell me, how am I going to sell her at the auction to the alphas if she looks like this?" he added, his voice laced with disgust as he looked at me again.

My mind went blank, my heart sinking into a cold abyss. Auction? He is going to sell me?

The world felt like it had tilted on its axis. I had thought I had found a sliver of hope, but instead, I had stumbled into a deeper nightmare.
