Chapter 180 - Chapter 180 Breakfast

Rhydian was standing right in front of Aeris's door like some personal guard. His back was straight, his face calm, and his posture was too relaxed for someone who supposedly slept on a mat. 

My gaze lowered, and that was when I noticed he was holding a tray of food too.

The soft aroma of chicken soup rising from the plate made my chest tighten with unease. My fingers tightened a little around the edge of my tray.

I froze, knowing Ember I knew she preferred meat to any other food. My gaze lowered to my own tray of food, which lacked in comparison to his.

My aura slowly seeped through the space, making the air feel heavier. I stared at his back without saying a word or making a sound, seeing how he looked tense, and how his fingers tightened around the edge of his tray… I knew he had already felt it.

Beowulf growled in my head. "He's trying to steal our chance."
