Chapter 315 - Chapter 316: The Genestealer Patriarch Brother

Chapter 316: The Genestealer Patriarch Brother

"You're right... all the heretics outside and this governor deserve to die! But the Imperium has already sent thirty million Astra Militarum to Asphodel. And they're Cadians."

These Genestealer Cultists, who looked no different from ordinary humans, had the same knowledge and awareness of the outside world as any normal person. They, too, had heard of the Cadians' reputation.

"Palin! What do you mean by that?! Are you suggesting the Angels won't be able to beat those heretics?! That is blasphemy against the Four-Armed Emperor! How could those blasphemers who worship the 'Two-Armed Emperor' possibly win against the great Four-Armed Emperor? The heretics stripped the Emperor of his other two arms through their blasphemous ways! They all deserve to die!"

"I'm sorry, Trik! Please, don't tell the Magus! They'll take away my right to Ascend!"

"Forget it... who asked us to be brothers? But you can't say that kind of thing ever again!"

Suddenly, Trik thought he saw a shadow flicker in front of him. He immediately raised his lasrifle. The lights overhead were working normally, and there were no shadows in the nearby area, but he couldn't see anyone else.

"Trik! What's wrong? What did you see?!"

Both men looked around nervously but found nothing.

"May... maybe my eyes were playing tricks on me..."

But as the two of them lowered their weapons and turned around, they saw the Zerglings that had already phased through the wall and become solid.

"Xe... Xenos! How did they get in?! Open fire!"

But before either of them could attack, the Zerglings pounced, biting through their throats. The remaining Aether-Zerglings had also been assigned their own targets. The sudden assault quickly killed all the guards in the post. Someone tried to activate the alarm, only to find that the equipment had all failed.

When the last cultist was killed, the massive alloy door was opened by Lucan's will.

"Kerrigan, you, Norris, and Zeratul will act as one. Find the Patriarch and seize control of every Genestealer Cultist on this planet."

"Rest assured, Father."

Twenty Ghosts and twenty Dark Templar, led by Norris and Zeratul, entered the massive underground city. Kerrigan, who was not in her Queen of Blades form, was also wearing a Ghost's combat suit. Driven by her own psionic power, she, too, entered a state of invisibility.

As this invisible force advanced, the Ghosts continuously used their mind-control abilities to take over guards along the path and hack into cogitator data, gathering intelligence on the massive bunker. The Genestealer Cult's infiltration of the bunker's defense forces exceeded all their expectations. At least twenty percent of the Planetary Defence Force troops were already cultists.

From the minds of the cultists, they learned that in addition to their plan to attack the Imperial army during the Tyranid landing, they had another important mission: to capture the governor for their Patriarch. Thanks to the various efforts and probes the cult had already made to kill the governor, the team was able to learn his location.

However, as a large number of cultists and normal PDF troops began to go missing, their movements finally attracted the attention of both the Genestealer Patriarch and the governor.

In an underground palace, surrounded by ornate decorations, there was a vast garden. Beautiful music drifted from within. A small stream flowed through the garden and into a central, artificial lake. The scenery here was in stark contrast to the world outside the gate. It was hard to imagine that such a place could exist in this region. The ceiling was covered in glowing heat lamps, mimicking the light of a sun, providing light for this space.

On the lawn of the garden, noble men and women were lying about. Crystal-clear bottles, still containing the residue of fragrant wine, lay beside them. These people were in a near-comatose state. Those who were still conscious were in a daze. Chemicals and alcohol numbed their minds, allowing them to try and forget what was happening outside the bunker.

In a pavilion in the center of the garden, an old man sat on a couch, staring blankly at the scene. His confidant was at his side, reporting on the events in the bunker.

"Lord Augus, we've lost communication with guards in many sectors of the bunker. We can confirm that someone has infiltrated this place..."

Hearing the guard's report, Augus remained silent, but his entire body began to tremble slightly.

"Tiberius... you've finally come for me..."

Augus didn't think of anyone else. He could only think of his xenos brother, the one known on Asphodel as the "Cryptus Worm"—the Genestealer Patriarch.

Augus had long since discovered the Genestealer Cult's activities on Asphodel. He had tried to stop them but had failed every time. He knew how badly this Patriarch wanted to kill him.

No one except Augus knew that this Genestealer Patriarch was his own brother, from the same father and mother.

Augus's parents, the original governors of this planet, had been accidentally infected by a Genestealer during a visit to another world. When they returned, they gave birth to Augus's younger brother, Tiberius. But even though Tiberius had sharp claws and extra limbs, they still chose to raise this monster as their heir.

When Augus saw that the guests who went to visit his younger brother never came out of the room again, he realized the severity of the problem. He realized that something was wrong with his parents, and that they intended to strip him of his inheritance.

In the end, by secretly rallying the other nobles, he successfully launched a coup, killing his "insane" parents. But his brother had escaped. In the years since, he had never given up the hunt for his brother, but all his efforts had failed. Instead, more and more reports of missing persons began to appear in the underhives, and the legend of the "Cryptus Worm" began to spread.

Living in daily fear of his brother, he had completely abandoned his political duties and had spent a massive amount of resources to build this underground city.

And now, in Augus's eyes, his brother had breached his sanctuary and was on his way to kill him.

"Gather all the troops! Bring all of my combat-psykers here!"

"Yes, my lord!"

To protect himself, Augus had also sheltered dozens of unsanctioned combat-psykers. This was the most powerful force under his command.

However, Augus was not entirely wrong. Kerrigan's team had already entered the bunker. But so had Tiberius. He was still hiding, not having made his move, waiting for an opportunity. He, too, had sensed the presence of a third party that had entered the bunker. His original plan was to wait until the Tyranids landed to make his move, but now he had to act early. But no matter who had come, he would not allow anyone to interfere with his revenge.

As a Genestealer Patriarch, Tiberius was an anomaly among the Tyranids. His obsession with getting revenge on Augus had even allowed him to suppress his natural instincts. His actions were no longer based purely on the Hive Mind's directives to hunt for biomass and eliminate enemies. He wanted revenge on Augus, who had almost killed him.

It was clear what a deep-seated hatred this was.
