Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

"And who is asking?" Veronica turns to this mysterious man. He hasn't seen him before, so she figured it should be one of the many family members of the Madrid.

Without saying anything, he looks at her in a really deep way but something about the way he looked at her was really... intriguing. He crouches down to match her level and removes the cigarette from his mouth. Just then, he pops a smoke on Veronica's face as she looked at him with disgust.

"Are you here for the Madrid?" She tried to act unbothered. But one thing she knew was there was something off about this man.

Unexpectedly, he didn't respond again and takes out the cig from his mouth and slowly fixes it at Veronica's mouth. his eyes daunting at hers.

"You ask too many questions" he uttered, almost into a whisper. He faces down at her feets and unbelts the lace to her heels.

"No wonder your heels were killing you. Real classy" He chuckled.

"Don't use these heels unless you want to be bruised" He stands up, holding my heels in his hands, and before she knew it, he threw it inside the fire place.

Veronica takes the cig out of her mouth and tosses it aside.

"Do you have any idea how much those heels cost?" She yelled at him, standing up to her feets.

This ungrateful pig! Jayce had bought these heels months ago, a gift worth nearly ten million dollars. Not that it mattered to him to spend that much, but tossing them aside like trash? Unthinkable.

"Relax. I can get you a better pair," the man said casually. Veronica chuckled, a hint of disbelief in her tone.

"Who do you think you are? My husband got me these heels. You'll have a lot of explaining to do, just so you know," she warned, her eyes sharp as they met his.

A slow smile crept across his face.

"And your husband is… who exactly?" His voice was deep, smooth, and unsettling.

Veronica swallowed hard, bracing herself.

"That is none of your business," she snapped. He simply nodded, acknowledging the warning.

"Until we meet again."

Without another word, he turned, walking away with an easy confidence, leaving Veronica standing there, confused and slightly rattled, unsure of what had just unfolded.

ow strange, she thought, shaking her head as she made her way back to the dining hall, where everyone was gathered, caught up in their endless whispers and gossip.

"Where were you?" Jayce whispered, his eyes locked with his food as i took my seat next to him.

"I went for a walk"

"A walk?"

"You heard me" Veronica whispered coldly.

Just as she was about to dig her fork on her chicken salad, she heard the same familiar foot clacks from earlier as the door sprang open with a familiar scent.

All the Madrid family turned, their eyes matching and cupping at the stranger as suddenly after a short moment of recognization, their mouths flung open as they had just seen a ghost.

"My word" Martha stands up from her chair like she was about to pass out

"Andrew-"

A sly smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he casually slipped his hands into his pockets, making his grand entrance.
