It was just the two of us that were sitting in this living room.

There wasn't a single other person that was here.

All of the servants had been sent away by Viscount Denoir as soon as we came in, making it clear that he didn't want anyone to hear what we were going to talk about.

But even after sending them away, it didn't seem like he was planning to say anything.

The two of us just sat there in silence, but it was awkward as he was glaring at me the entire time.

It was clear that he didn't want me here, but it also seemed like he had no choice but to tolerate me.

I really couldn't tell what he was thinking with the way that he acted.

In the end, he broke the silence by saying, "An engagement really seems like the best option right now."

I had to admit that I was surprised by these words since it seemed to completely contradict the way that he had been acting previously. It really didn't seem like everything was building up to this with the way that he had been acting.
