I finally managed to get out of the zone of madness and complete hopelessness. What an unpleasant place this hospital is. Now I began to understand why Gotham is at the top of the city ratings in the category of gloom.
Unfortunately, I will have to visit this "nice" establishment more than once. Oh, hold on, Alex, hold on… Having inhaled a full chest of fresh air, I went to the workshop to report the result of the negotiations to Kavita. To my surprise, the charming Miss Gordon was waiting for me there, peacefully settling down on a bench near "Babylon". Noticing me, she rose to meet me.
"Barbara? What brings you here?"I put my arm around her waist and kissed her lightly on the lips.
"I just decided to take a look around your lab. You've reinforced the building quite well, but there are still a couple of things that need to be fixed," the girl said calmly.
"I wanted to ask Bruce to see if there was anything that could be improved... But since you're here now, we don't need to touch our bat."
"What are you planning to research here that you're so fixated on protecting this place?"
"You'll find out soon. How long have you been here? Let's go inside."
One thing is for sure: this will be a real surprise for the entire Bat-family. I'm sure Bats will even get a few more gray hairs. Ha-ha-ha, I can't wait for it.
"That's the only reason I don't bother you. And when I came here, I wanted to find out everything from Dr. Rao. She must definitely know what exactly you're planning to work on here."
"Judging by your tone, I can assume that your questions led to nothing." What can I say, Kavita is a very cautious person. Without my consent, she certainly won't tell others the essence of our experiment.
"Shut up, at least I tried," she pouted her lips in displeasure.
"You will get along with her, I promise. Her character is a little capricious, but as soon as you get used to it, you will immediately understand that she is a good person. True, a little obsessed …"
"As you say," the girl muttered. We went inside. "I have already checked everything, and found out what exactly needs to be improved here. This evening I will call Lucius, ask him to send a team of specialists here to install new toys from Wayne's company, and at the same time improve the existing ones. I believe we will be able to strengthen the security of "Babylon" by another 30-40%. And on this occasion, you will have to empty your pockets again. According to my calculations, I will have to spend another $ 2 million."
"Why do expenses scare me so much these last few days, brr," I grabbed my hands, trying to stop them from shaking.
"Expenses," Barbara whispered in my ear, which made me fall even deeper into the abyss of despair. Is it only me or dark clouds have gathered over my head?
While I was thinking to myself about how money has an amazing ability to slip through my fingers, Barbara was enthusiastically watching a dark-skinned woman who was fluttering between various chemical ampoules, flasks and writing something down in a notebook.
She could have simply dictated everything to the artificial intelligence, and not bothered with these notes. But it is not for me to teach how exactly professionals should work. Perhaps it is easier for her to concentrate this way.
"Kavita." I called the scientist, who did not notice us at all.
"Alex!" the doctor shouted, and jumped up, rushing straight at me. "What are the results? Has Pamela agreed to work with us?"
Her eyes sparkled with inflated expectations, so much so that I felt a little awkward telling her the sad news.
"Sorry, but the negotiations failed. But don't worry, it was all within my expectations. I didn't expect that in one meeting I would be able to convince her to take the side of good and work with us. I'm sure I'll be able to come to an agreement with her. I need a little more time," I said in one breath.
"Oh," she said completely emotionlessly, turned around and got back to her mysterious work.
"Don't be so upset... By the way, what are you doing now?" I asked, trying to change the subject.
"I'm checking the developments that are known to the public on our project. As I've said many times, this is not a matter of two or three days, we have a huge pile of work ahead of us: calculations, research, trials, errors... I don't want to waste a second. That's why I've already started working. Even though I don't have all the equipment I need at hand, I can already do some things."
A real workaholic... Well, let's not disturb her.
"Alex, you're not that busy now, are you?" Batgirl asked in a sweet voice. "Will you show me your office?"
"Of course."
"I hope you didn't forget to install soundproofing in it?"
"Don't worry, I took care of that first and foremost."
"In that case, show me the way, mister," the red-haired beast smiled slyly.
***********************
The next morning I went to the recording studio "Alritex Records". I was met by the deputy director of the studio - Vivian Diaz.
The last few days were quite tense for them, some even stayed to work overtime. It was all connected with the search for musicians. We received applications from even more people than we initially expected.
Plus, there were negotiations with two singers from Norwood Bailey's hostile company. In general, there was a lot of work. Only the other day they managed to sort through the countless applications and select a hundred candidates who met the requirements and were trustworthy. But this was only the first round of selection, and the second one will begin right now. And none other than me will do it. Do not forget that I have galactic-scale intuition. Therefore, I will trust it in choosing future employees.
