Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Price of Power

The world seemed to pause for a moment. For a fleeting second, time itself hung in the balance. But then, the shift was complete.

Kai Zhang's empire was now not only compromised but reset. The threads of fate that had once been on the verge of unraveling were now perfectly aligned for Lucien Voss. The data leak, the market collapse, the strategic retaliations — they were all gone. Kai's empire, reduced to nothing, had been forced into a state of reconstruction. A new timeline.

Lucien stood in the center of the storm, his fingers brushing the air as if guiding the flow of time itself. Fate Shatter had done its work.

Dragon Tower – Kai Zhang's Office

Kai Zhang stood frozen, staring at the blinking screens before him. His mind was racing. He had been so close. He could feel it — the absolute collapse of Lucien's carefully constructed empire. He was on the verge of victory.

But then, just like that, everything reversed.

A hollow laugh escaped his lips. "So this is how it ends..."

Fate Shift: Probability of Escape: 10%

Kai's body stiffened, but a cold resolve replaced the panic that had momentarily taken hold of him. He had been dealt a heavy blow, but Lucien Voss wasn't invincible. The Fate System had allowed him to return to this point, but Kai Zhang was still alive. He could still fight.

The battle was far from over.

Lucien's Control Room – 15 Minutes Later

Lucien sat in the heart of his operation, the room pulsating with data streams from all corners of the world. Every move, every twist of fate — it all came back to him.

A familiar notification flashed on the screen.

> [System Notification: Fate Shatter Successful – Kai Zhang's Empire Erased]

[Lucien Voss's Influence Gained: +75,000]

[New Mission: Consolidate Power in the Wake of Victory.]

Lucien exhaled slowly, leaning back in his chair. The price of power was steep, but it was always worth the cost. Now, the world lay at his feet. He had crushed Kai's empire, rewritten his fate, and secured his position as the ultimate force in the world. His network was complete.

But something gnawed at the back of his mind. A feeling he couldn't quite shake.

Anna Mei.

She had been at his side through it all, but her ambition had been rising, her power growing alongside his. Would she be a tool for his ascendancy, or would she become a threat?

Lucien's eyes darkened. Power was a dangerous thing. And the price of betrayal was always high.

---

Anna Mei – Outside the Conference Room

Anna stepped out of the elevator, her heels clicking sharply on the marble floor. She had witnessed the rise of Lucien, felt his power shift as he broke Kai Zhang. But the more she observed, the more she understood — Lucien wasn't just a king. He was a tyrant.

The question was no longer if she could use him to rise. It was whether she would be used by him.

She paused outside his office, her hand resting on the doorframe. She knew Lucien had already begun to plan his next move. And with each victory, his control over the world would grow stronger.

But so would her own power.

Anna's eyes narrowed. The final step was close. She would have to choose her side soon. And once that choice was made, there would be no turning back.

---

Lucien's Office – A Few Moments Later

Lucien's eyes locked onto Anna as she entered the room. Her presence filled the space, and for a brief moment, he let himself relax. But only for a brief moment.

"Anna," Lucien said smoothly, "I trust you know what comes next."

She met his gaze with an unreadable expression. "Yes. The world is crumbling, and you stand at the top. But what happens when there's nothing left to conquer?"

Lucien smiled, a dark, knowing smile. "Then we build something new."

He leaned forward, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the desk. "We're on the verge of reshaping everything, Anna. But there's always one thing left in the shadows. One last piece I need to take care of."

Anna's brow furrowed. "What do you mean?"

Lucien stood, walking slowly toward the massive windows that overlooked the city. The glow of the neon lights outside reflected in his cold eyes.

"The final pieces," he said quietly, his voice low, "are those who still think they can stop me."

Anna stepped closer, sensing the shift in his tone. "Who?"

Lucien turned, his smile sharp as a blade. "The last of the 'heroes.'"

---

The Hero's Final Stand – Unknown Location

Across the city, far from the looming presence of Lucien, a small team of figures gathered in a hidden room. They had been watching the rise of Lucien Voss with growing concern. Kai Zhang had failed, his empire crushed by the relentless tide of fate that Lucien had mastered.

But this group was different. They were the remnants of the old heroes — the ones whose fates were never completely severed. The ones still strong enough to challenge him.

"Lucien Voss will not win," a deep voice said from the shadows. "We still have a chance."

The others nodded, their faces grim but resolute. These were the last remaining forces that could stand against him. But would they be enough?

---

Lucien's Network – Nightfall

Lucien knew the final stage was set. The last resistance was gathering. It was inevitable. But they, too, would fall before him. He would show them all that fate could be rewritten — and those who stood against him would become nothing more than forgotten relics.

His empire was complete. His power was unmatched. No one would be able to stop him.

And yet, in the quiet corner of his mind, Lucien Voss couldn't shake the feeling that the greatest challenge had yet to come.
