Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: The Saint Jeanne d’Arc Sent to the Stake

ShaddupAndTakeMyMana-[Holy crap, this is blowing my mind! So that's how Jeanne d'Arc received her "revelation"!]

SimpProMax16-[What if… someone actually time-traveled to 1429 France and filmed this?]

AlphaSigma-[I just had a crazy thought—what if after I die, I hire a pro team to turn me into a Kamen Rider or Ultraman, and then hundreds of years later, I get summoned as a Heroic Spirit? Wouldn't I be unstoppable?]

YeetTheInfidel-[Bro, that's genius! I'll be there cheering you on in my Oma Zi-O suit!]

"Incredible! This explains everything about the real history!"

Kirina's eyes sparkled with excitement as she recalled the French history she had once read.

Back then, a simple village girl claimed she received instructions from the "Lord."

She rallied villagers, lords, and knights as soldiers to liberate Orléans.

Because she had no money, her armor, horse, sword—even her banner—were all donated by others!

Even more outrageous—

This nearly illiterate peasant girl actually led the army to a series of unbelievable victories.

She completely turned the tide of the Hundred Years' War!

Historians racked their brains trying to explain how such a miracle was possible.

They had no choice but to attribute it to divine intervention—proof that "at the end of science lies theology."

If this video is real, then everything suddenly makes sense!

In the video—

The young saint shook her head.

"I'm sorry, but I don't want to lie to anyone. These people died with the belief that they were saving their country. Only we who live on can give their deaths the meaning they deserve."

The unnamed Heroic Spirit looked at her with a gentle smile.

"Then let me be the one to deceive the world, let me bear all the sins. All you need to do is shine as the sacred, radiant saint."

At that moment, everyone watching finally understood the meaning behind the video's title.

Anyone hearing these words could tell he was a true knight—selfless, walking in the shadows, bearing the weight of the world.

A true unsung hero.

Jeanne looked at him, her eyes full of complexity. "Who are you really? Why are you doing this?"

"Just an unnamed Heroic Spirit."

He answered with a calm smile, his red cape fluttering in the wind.

Then—

The clouds parted. Sunlight streamed down on him, making him look divine, transcendent.

YaoiBreed-[Aaaah! This man is so handsome—I want to duel him with swords!]

Blorbo-[My brother from a different mother, wash your brain with holy water!]

SinMommy-[This is so romantic I'm crying! If a man said this to me, I'd marry him on the spot!]

Skibidipapa-[It all comes together! Your name is unknown, but your deeds will live forever!]

HolySimp999-[Why is this more hype than Boruto?!]

"Damn, he's really too handsome!"

Kirina's eyes lit up, heart pounding.

Even though his face looked a lot like that shut-in Sanjiro back home, he somehow looked irresistibly cool!

Then—

With the help of the unnamed Heroic Spirit, Jeanne began claiming she had received divine revelations from the Lord and had witnessed the great angel serving Him.

As proof, she accurately predicted the French army's defeat at the Battle of the Herrings.

Prince Charles, leader of the French forces, had exhausted all reasonable options and failed.

In despair, he placed his trust in this illiterate peasant girl supposedly guided by God, allowing her to lead the army.

And then, a miracle happened.

Jeanne d'Arc held aloft a lance-flag—a white banner hung from the end of a long spear.

Embroidered with golden fleur-de-lis.

She waved the holy banner and led the French army to one victory after another, eventually reclaiming Orléans.

Despite her overwhelming contributions, she refused a noble title from the king, asking only that her home village be exempted from taxes.

She truly expected no reward and was willing to sacrifice everything!

"Ugh, of course it's a video edit—they only kept the good parts, the transitions are way too fast," Kirina muttered.

The war scenes were mostly skipped using film-like cuts.

But if you looked closely, the unnamed Heroic Spirit appeared in every shot beside Jeanne.

He was terrifyingly powerful—whenever danger struck, he would appear and reverse the tide.

Otherwise, how could a bunch of peasant soldiers possibly defeat brutal, professional armies?

Through countless battles, the unnamed Heroic Spirit earned the fearsome title of "Crimson Knight."

His followers worshipped him. His enemies feared him.

He truly lived up to it—

A nameless figure always watching from the shadows, helping Jeanne reclaim Orléans.

"A true Heroic Spirit... someone who upholds justice, shuns fame, and gives everything in silence... it's awe-inspiring!"

Kirina's eyes glistened as she gazed at him.

A man who silently protects you… for a girl, that's practically a fatal kind of charm.

Her mind burned with curiosity—

What exactly was the relationship between Jeanne and this man…?

Suddenly—

The video cut from the peak of war drama to a chilling execution scene.

A blonde girl was bound to a cross, surrounded by a pile of firewood at her feet. A massive crowd encircled the execution stage, shouting madly,

"She's not a saint guided by God! She's a witch bewitched by demons, trying to drag us to hell!"

"We were deceived!"

"Burn her! Burn her! Burn her!"

Their frenzied screams created a scene of unbearable cruelty.

"These people are disgusting! Heroic Spirit, hurry and take her away—get her out of France!" Kirina's heart ached for the saint.

She had sacrificed everything to free Orléans and was on the verge of defeating the invaders.

Only to be betrayed by the very people she had saved—sent to the stake!

So many foolish people—

Rather than wake up, they'd rather die gasping inside a sealed box.

Refusing to listen to reason, unwilling to fight despite all costs.

Tragic in misfortune, infuriating in cowardice!

YeetTheInfidel-[Damn it! Jeanne saved France and got betrayed by the very people she saved—no wonder the Heroic Spirit refused to become the king!]

EverydayNerd-[Sigh… in the face of fate's cruel wheel, humans are just too weak.]

AlphaSigma-[Why didn't the Heroic Spirit save her?!]

SinMommy-[Please, Heroic Spirit, I'm begging you—save the saint!]

As if in answer to their cries—the unnamed Heroic Spirit appeared!

His red cloak billowed like fire as he carved a path through the crowd in a storm of blood.

The once-frenzied mob recoiled, panic spreading across their faces.

"It's the Crimson Knight! Don't come any closer!"

His fearsome reputation alone paralyzed them.

No one dared to stop him.

Everyone could only watch, wide-eyed, as he strode toward the execution platform.

Unstoppable. Overwhelming. Peerless.

He climbed the pyre and swept his black eyes—cold and sharp as death—across the crowd, sneering with scorn:

"You fools! Do you even know it was her who liberated Orléans for you and drove away the invaders?"

Even though he openly called them "fools," not a single soldier, commoner, or noble dared refute him.

They hated him.

But they feared him more.

The once-wild crowd fell completely silent, frozen in anger and terror.

And yet—

The unnamed Heroic Spirit didn't care one bit about their reaction. He turned and looked at Jeanne bound to the cross.

He reached out to her.

"Jeanne, why do you insist on dying for this pack of fools? Come—let me take you away!"
