Chapter Four

Daisy's POV

Miranda walked into the room, looking as elegant as possible. She looked so beautiful. My eyes traced to her finger, and she was putting on a matching ring just like the one he was wearing.

To be honest, I was a little bit jealous. At some point, I have always imagined putting on matching rings with him, but the plan went south because of him.

"Daisy?" Miranda called out, dropping her bag on the couch as she walked up to us slowly. I knew she was going to misinterpret the entire scene.

Imagine walking up on your husband, and then seeing his ex with no shirt in his office. I wore my clothes. I was expecting her to throw a tantrum, but she didn't do anything.

"You should have knocked before you entered. What the hell are you doing here?"

"What? Why are you angry at me for no reason? Your secretary wasn't outside—" She paused, unable to complete her statement while she looked in my direction once again. "What the hell is she doing here? How did she get here?! I thought you were dead." She mentioned, walking up to me and then touching my arms.

"What? Are you scared that your father didn't do his job properly?" I scoffed. I bet she doesn't know that her father was one of the reasons why I was killed.

"What do you mean by that? What happened to you that night? Do you know how worried we were?" Her hands were still on my wrist, and I was starting to feel a little bit disgusted.

Her facial expression, the image of her smirking while Ansel rejected me came to my head. All I could do feel right now was pure rage.

"Worried? I bet you wanted me gone more than anyone else." I pushed off her hand in anger. "Stop acting like y'all give a damn about me pronounced dead. You all finally got rid of that daughter and half sister who is always giving you problems." Uncontrolled tears streamed down my cheeks, and I was able to tell how terrible this was.

I shouldn't have let them see me cry. That was a huge taboo.

"Say hi to my father for me." I grabbed the files that were on the table. "You are also going to be seeing me around more frequently." I mentioned it to her.

"I thought we were supposed to sign them now." Ansel stopped me as I was about to walk out of his office.

"Oh! That will be tomorrow. Seemed like you are not even capable of this job, imagine your meeting with a business client getting ruined by your wife. Let me know when you are ready." My heels clicked on the shimmering tiles, walking out if his office aggressively.

Gosh! I let out a huge breath. "Was I really holding in my breath? What the actual fuck!"

I was about to enter the elevator, and the realized I had left my phone in the office. "How could I forget something important like that?" I mumbled under my breath, while I then walked back to the entrance.

"How long have you known his for? Was she the reason why you have been mentioning about getting divorced? Was it because of her? Huh?" I heard her shouting.

"I should have your child now, but we have never for once slept on the same bed." She continued.

I shouldn't be eavesdropping. My hand covered my mouth after listening to her revelation. It was quite shocking. They never had sex all the whole time I was gone.

"You were okay with the terms before we got married. I will never love you and I can never love you. Nothing is ever going to happen between the both of us." He continued. "Now, run off to your father like you always do, if anything happens to Daisy again, I will make sure you family will not live to see the next day."

It felt like there were a lot of things I needed to know.

My hand twisted the doorknob after he made that statement.

"Uhm, my phone." I pointed to the couch which I had sat down. Everything was awkward between the both of them. I took my phone that was on the couch, as I stormed out of the room.

That was really awkward.

I was starting to feel my heart race. The images from that night was starting to flood in. My legs felt weak at the thought and I could feel it happening again.

I thought I was over this. I thought I was over the trauma. What the hell was happening to me? I tried to walk, but I fell into the ground. I was starting to feel the physical pain of the knife entering into my body.

The pain of when I realized my baby was dead. Everything was flodding in.

It felt as if I was in the scene again. This hasn't happened to me in months and I guess it was happening again because I faced him. My hand tried to reach my pills in my bag, I grabbed the bottle but it fell.

"Oh shit—" I cussed. I tried crawling to where it was. I shouldn't allow them to see me this way. I was going to look pathetic and I didn't want that to happen.

"Daisy!" I heard Ansel's voice behind me. Not only did I cry in his presence, he saw me this way.

*****

I opened my eyes slowly, Ansel's cologne was the first thing that hit my nose. I was in his office, and he was sitting next to me.

I remembered all what happened before I found myself in this position. I tried sitting up, "Don't touch me." I warned him, after I realized he wanted to use his hands to touch me.

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry can't fix acting. I know you must have seen how pathetic I am right now." I sighed rubbing my forehead with my thumb. I was really pathetic.

"No, I understand I am the one at fault. I caused everything." He kept on blabbing. I looked around the room and the realizer that Miranda wasn't here anymore.

How she was able to leave the both of us in the room alone

My phone ring tone called for my attention. My bag was in the other side of the room, while he quickly rushed and brought my phone.

"I think it's spam call—" he mentioned as he handed over the phone to me. I collected the phone, but couldn't answer the call anymore.

A text message popped in on my phone immediately after the call ended, it was from an unknown number.

"Ansel knew who killed your mother. That was the reason why he had to leave you in the end." That was the message sent to me.

What the fuck is going on?
