The door bursts open with a force that silences even the static between Eryx and Theo. Both men tense at once, startled by the sudden slam, but only Eryx turns around.
Theo doesn't move, his eyes still on the phone.
Morgana stands in the doorway, panting, her chest heaving with breath as if she's run from the ends of the earth to get here.
"It's not true!" she gasps, her voice breaking between ragged breaths. "I know the doctor that they paid to fake the results. Trust me, it's not true, I swear, I'm the one telling you… They paid a doctor!"
The words come out so fast they almost stumble over each other. Her desperation cracks through her voice like thunder before a storm.
Eryx's head whips toward Theo again.
"What does it say?" he demands now, unable to hold back the boiling impatience inside him. His voice cuts through the thick silence like a knife.
Theo still doesn't speak.
