Chapter 55 - The world

Night slowly disappeared from our sight. Morning made its usual appearance in Zeldia with its semi-gloomy presence. In the early part of the morning, I teleported myself to Raizel's home. When I teleported there, I found him standing in front of the window, as if awaiting someone's visit for a while. I slowly stepped forward to him and said in a calm voice, "You didn't sleep last night, right?"

Raizel nodded without looking toward me. After keeping the silence for some moments, Raizel raised his voice toward me, "I'm afraid. I'm afraid something is going to happen soon."

I stepped a bit ahead toward him and set my foot right beside him. I narrowly looked toward his eyes and asked, "What are you afraid of?"

"This realm, this world. I feel like I won't be able to protect it." Raizel replied calmly, lost in thoughts.

I didn't reply back. It was obvious for him to be worried. While the true spirits failed to destroy the world, they managed to leave a piece of a scratch in Raizel's mind. I believe it's for the better good. Instead of reducing his will, they helped him to be more ruthless, with an even stronger will to protect the land.

As we were prepared for the final confrontation against the true spirits, I informed Raizel about everything that had happened. I knew about his desperation to destroy the true spirits as soon as possible in order to clear out the threat of the destruction of Zeldia. Using his desperation as a way to destroy the true spirits, I prepared all of us for the final battle against them.

Following our plan, we prepared ourselves for the battle and gathered in the secretive world the very next morning. For some unknown reason, my fellows appeared pretty calm today. Not a single word came out from their voices; they were silent all along. After trying to talk with them for some moments, I stopped the attempt and decided to follow the things we were going to do.

As we gathered in the secretive world, I informed everyone of them about the plan with my usual calm voice. But the silence grew further due to the absence of Marco and Maria's usual active chattering.

I created a magic portal in front of us, and then we teleported away to the Spiritual world one by one.

The spiritual world wasn't the sort of world we were expecting to see. As soon as we set foot in the Spiritual world, we heard some strange and terrifying screams. They were resounding over and over, like some vampire continuously absorbing the blood of a living human.

Following the track of the scream, we stepped ahead toward the east. After walking for a few seconds, we found a huge sand field. As we looked further around, we saw the presence of thousands of vampires scattered all around the field. They were screaming like hungry monsters and sucking the blood of countless living humans around there. The humans were screaming even more out of pain and fear, but the mixed scream of the vampires and humans created an irritating and terrifying situation there. I drew a magic circle covering the field and blocked the sound through my magic.

"It's impossible, it's impossible to take such a terrifying sound head-on. I can't take it anymore." I said out of annoyance.

"Judging by the appearance of these humans, they are from the 6th layer, mere inhabitants of some unknown world. And what's with these vampires? I can't identify them; they're not existences alike us but pieces of magic power." Marco said, following my sentence.

"Could it be that they're magic creatures? But how did these humans end up being here? I don't understand that." Maria said. Her voice appeared to be confused.

Marco flew toward a vampire who was sucking out blood from a living human without magic power. Marco drew a magic circle and summoned a golden magic sword. As he grabbed the sword in his hand, he struck the sword at the vampire's neck while the vampire appeared to be completely focused on sucking out blood from the human's body. As the sword was about to strike his neck, the vampire instantly brought his gaze toward Marco and struck back at Marco's sword with immense strength and forced him back.

His reaction time was incredibly fast, and Marco was completely surprised by the sudden reaction to his strike.

"How terrifying. I can't believe a vampire has such incredible speed and strength. I feel like it's not even his final capability."

According to the information I've found throughout my research about the Spiritual world, the only beings that exist in the spiritual world are the five individual true spirits. So if we talk about the vampires, then it's obvious for them to be some sort of army belonging to a certain true spirit. But what about the humans? It's really hard to believe that these humans are here to be nothing but living meals for these vampires. But I had to believe this; I had to believe that these humans are brought here to be part of these vampires' food. But if they're made out of the true spirit's magic power, then why would they require food? I wonder.

The answer isn't very obvious but is clear. While these vampires don't really need any sort of physical meal to exist, the true spirits bring these humans here just for their own amusement.

Vampires eating living humans while the humans are screaming out of pain, fear, and sadness. It's something amusing for them; it's a horror movie for them where the vampires eat humans alive. It's a part of fiction; it's a part of illusion for the true spirits.

While being an existence who views the creation as a part of fiction, I've always wanted to see a creation without the concept of sadness and cruelty. I just wanted to witness a creation where everyone will smile, they'll smile brightly without any trace of sorrow all around the creation. But the sight of the world in front of me isn't the story I wanted; it's a layout of a false story made by the mortals, a story I've never wanted to witness yet am forced to.

For a moment, I wanted to believe that it's just some illusion in front of me, part of a stupid dream. But is it really possible to lie to myself about something happening in front of me, in front of my witness? I don't know the answer.

While holding my question in my mind, I stepped forward toward the deadly and piercing vampires and created multiple magic circles above my head as I got in pretty close to them.

The magic circles began to rotate extremely fast and released some extremely agile golden sticks with magic power brimming on their entire body. The sticks flew toward the vampires and penetrated through several of them before they could react. The golden sticks instantly shattered their bodies and left them vanished away like pieces of mist.

However, it was only for so long. Soon, the scattered pieces of mist gathered in one place and recreated the figures of those vampires as they returned to life without any issues.

My fellow comrades appeared to be surprised by that, as it was nearly unexpected. Even though I was surprised as well, the depth of my reasoning over the surprise was pretty different from the others. My awareness about the true spirits wasn't just anything. If anyone can create vampires like this with their magic power, then it will be a certain individual true spirit, nobody else. He was the one who can manipulate every possible physical existence in reality, which allows him to create physical beings such as this without the necessity of a soul. However, my golden sticks can destroy any physical object from its root itself without leaving a single chance for it to exist further. So how are they supposed to reform even after receiving demise? That was the certain reason for my surprise.

While I fell into the depth of my thoughts, a voice appeared to be heard from the west as a figure came out from a magic portal. His appearance was simple but effective. As soon as he stepped forward toward us, every single vampire around him froze in their own place. He had extremely deep red hair and red eyes nearly alike to the vampires. He was wearing a long dark coat and gloves on both of his hands.

He stood in front of us and said calmly, "The world is certainly interesting. Some exist for fun, some exist for sadness, and then, some exist to overcome the sadness and reach the happiness they've been looking for for countless years."

"I'm wondering, why do they do that? Is the world really good enough to value their sadness? Can the world value their effort and pieces of tears? I don't believe so; I refuse to believe in the world, and thus, it's my choice to be the most cruel existence ever, to be the most selfish person in the world, just for me and me all along." As he spoke, his voice consistently became louder and louder without a pause.
