Chapter 14 - Paperwork and Price

The moment I walked into Mr. Castellano's office, I could feel my pulse quicken, not from nerves, not from fear, but from sheer disbelief. Two weeks had passed since Roxy got discharged from the hospital, and one week since Mr. Castellano basically threatened me to agree to Roxy's offer.

"Doctor Pierce please come in and take a seat. Here are the paper please take a look at them." I stared down at the papers in front of me, the crisp legal documents Mr. Castellano had set neatly on his polished desk. I didn't even want to think about the implications of why I was here—the coercion, the leverage, the unspoken weight of the Delgados—but I had to. My fingers brushed against the top sheet, the first line catching my attention immediately: the monthly payment.
