Chapter 2 - Spirit Hall

To learn more about Jin Ho we would need to go back a few years to discover his origin. An orphan raised in Spirit Orphanage for six yeara cannot best describe him. He was previously known as Jin Ho in his previous life as well, a 20 year old adult who died due to cancer at a young age and in turn had more regrets than most in life.

In accordance with the new gen who engaged in watching anime and reading manga, he considered himself a veteran who watched donghua too and maybe just maybe his bad luck in his previous life accumulated a large amount of good luck that seemingly reincarnated him into Soul Land, one of the first donghua's he'd binged.

At first, he didn't know where he had been reborn but who knew the place he was raised for the past 6 years provided education apart from basic needs. At some point he even regarded it as brain washing. All those teachers did was praise Spirit Hall to the heavens, ingraining loyalty to a group of innocent children, but it wasn't as bad as Jin Ho made it sound.

Despite knowing this, Jin Ho never voiced his true thoughts attributing it due to the fact their orphanage was stationed in Spirit City and they did receive adequate shelter, food, clothing as well as education so it was of no consequence to him.

He was among the youngest children just turning six years old a few days prior to the awakening ceremony with those younger than him not yet having turned six years old. Known as a quite unassuming child in the orphanage, this trait seemingly disappeared after awakening his martial soul, or martial souls to be exact and Hongxi was taking the brunt of it.

"Hey, hey are you taking me to spirit hall? Am I martial master like you? Do you think I look more handsome now as compared to before? Can I get something to eat, I am reeaaally tired? Why's it so far? Hey! Hey! Senior, are you ignoring me?" The questions were endlessly and despite the relaxing effects of his Calm Swan martial soul, Hongxi sported visible veins on his forehead. For him, it was a first, never before had he thought that a child could be so annoying.

Stopping abruptly, Jin Ho collided with his senior's back putting a halt to his inquiries. Turning to face the child and squatting to eye contact level Hongxi asked him,"If I get you something to eat, will you promise to keep your questions to yourself till we arrive at our destination?" Rather than replying Jin Ho exaggeratingly motioned with his fingers the action of zipping his mouth.

"Good." Hongxi nodded in appreciation but before he could continue foward, the child struck again,"Can I eat whatever I want? Will you be paying for it?" Hongxi couldn't help but wonder why Spirit hall was so far today. But he shouldn't jeopardize his future just because a child was too curious, Right? Nodding to himself he couldn't help but realize, truly he'd worked hard.

In turn, Jin Ho wondered whether this senior of his had lost his marbles nodding and smiling to himself was already weird, but as long he got something to eat he'd try to remain quiet. But he couldn't help but think, that staff of his was really heavy, just holding it for a few seconds tired him out. Shouldn't it be his? Is it normal that he can't even lift it. 'In what time line am I even at? Wait my martial souls look familiar? Where have I seen them before? Why am I even thinking so much? Who'll even answer my questions?' His thoughts spiralled into nowhere

"Ah!" A knock to the head woke him up from his day dreaming. Feeling wronged, he took a look around and realized that they were no longer in the city. They were in a room decorated with silver and gold furnishings and for some reason he had sweet bread in his hands. This surprised him so much that he jumped backwards in a state of alertness. Something was wrong, very wrong, he was just asking for food in the city and for some reason he was in a strange but very expensive looking room.

Hongxi in his case couldn't help but wonder if the child he'd recruited was possessed. But his martial soul was a monkey, maybe that's how monkeys usually behaved, he even joked to himself. "Sit down and wait, someone very important will be arriving in a few minutes." He ordered as he found himself a chair and sat straight in slight anticipation.

Expecting the child to follow his steps he was more than surprised when the little monkey found himself a couch and sunk in it visibly enjoying the comfort and nibbling his bread in contentment. Hongxi couldn't help but sigh for umpteenth time but whatever, he brought the great talent to spirit hall. Whatever happened next wasn't of any concern to him.

"Hmmm, what an interesting chid you are!" A raspy voice sounded next to Jin Ho's ear startling him and in turn he spun and swung the remaining bread he had as a defense mechanism ready to strike the stranger. The next moment he was dangling in the air being held by an old but somehow young man.

He was donned in golden armour with blue light highlights shining here and there beneath the armor. "And feisty too, but you are weak have a small body and there's no power in your swing."

Jin Ho being smarter than most children quickly quipped back," That's because am a child."

" That's no reason to be weak, you are probably the weakest child I've ever seen, not that I've seen a lot. "The stranger said, more to himself than to Jin Ho.

Hongxi was surprised to see the man before him, he'd never seen him nor even heard of him but since he was able to appear from thin air inside the Spirit Hall, then he should be an elder and someone stronger than him.

"I apologize for the child's behaviour senior, but may I inquire the position senior holds?" Hongxi braced himself. " Heh, a brave one aren't you, but you did bring someone interesting to me. So I'll forgive your transgressions just this once." The stranger said rather seriously and opposite of his words, Hongxi was forced to the ground. At this point he was sweating buckets regretting speaking at all.

A ring was thrown to him and taking the hint, he caught it stood up and briskly left the vicinity thankful that he'd been let go. Internally he couldn't help but think, 'He must've been a soul douluo or maybe even a tit..led douluo' he stammered in his thoughts as he gulped thankful that he'd dodged an arrow. 'Well whatever it's the kid's problem now, I should probably sleep early today' Leaving the spirit hall entrance, he increased his pace probably to not return for a few weeks or months.

Back to Jin Ho, he stared at the Senior of his senior and carefully asked," Might I request senior let me down." The man looked at the brave child before him and sighing let him fall onto the couch. "Child, I don't have much time, show me your martial soul." The man spoke once again this time with finality.
