Chapter 77 - Chapter 77 – The Question They Let the Children Ask

The new pilot curriculum arrived silently.

A soft rollout.Low-profile.No press conferences.

Just a memo circulated to 37 "test" schools in urban districts.

The program was titled:

Foundations of Civic Expression(Adapted for ages 10–14)

It was supposed to be harmless.One teacher described it as:

"Patriotism without flags.Empathy without activism.And historical awareness, but like… not too much."

Then one morning, in one of those schools, a ten-year-old named Deniz raised her hand during the "Personal Reflection" module and asked:

— "If remembering something makes it more real,can forgetting something make it disappear?"

The class paused.

The teacher hesitated.

It wasn't in the notes.

There was no answer key.

The question just… hovered.

Then another student said:

— "My grandma forgets a lot.But when she remembers one thing, it's like the whole room changes."

Another added:

— "Sometimes I forget on purpose.But it comes back in my dreams."

By the end of the class, no one had written anything down.But the room felt full.

The next day, the teacher received a notice.

Flagged.

The lesson hadn't violated any specific rule.But it had "opened space for interpretive spiraling."

Emir heard about it two days later—through a blurry photo sent to a volunteer inbox.

The question, written on the board:

"If remembering makes it real… what does forgetting do?"

He stared at it.

Smiled.

Genuinely.

They were asking questions he hadn't written yet.

"You've lost control," Atatürk said,"but gained permanence."

"Let the world forget your name.As long as they keep asking better questions."

That night, Emir opened his notebook and wrote:

"This isn't legacy.It's replication."

"The voice is no longer mine.It's a condition."
