Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Twelve Years Old, A Student

Standing in front of the school gates, Huo Yuhao couldn't help but reflect on the fact that he was, once again, a student.

"Twelve years old, first-year student… sigh. Back when I was twelve in my previous life, I was probably somewhere watching anime while playing games."

After a while, a middle-aged man in a teacher's uniform walked out from the campus and headed toward Huo Yuhao.

"You must be Huo Yuhao?"

"Yes, teacher!"

Just like a bright-eyed and energetic new student, Huo Yuhao cheerfully greeted the teacher.

Seeing this pure and handsome boy, so innocent and polite, the teacher couldn't help but feel a bit puzzled.

This was the special student personally approved by Dean Jing Hongchen? Didn't look all that extraordinary…

"Nice to meet you too, Huo Yuhao. I'm Yu Qi, homeroom teacher for the first-year class. Just call me Teacher Yu. Come, I'll show you around the school."

Under Teacher Yu's guidance, Huo Yuhao was first taken to tour the dormitories.

"Are all students assigned single rooms, Teacher?"

Looking at the exquisitely decorated room nearly a hundred square meters in size, Huo Yuhao's eyes lit up.

Seeing Huo Yuhao get so excited over the dorm, Teacher Yu could only smile helplessly.

Many noble students studying at the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy had actually complained before that the rooms were too small.

This made Teacher Yu even more curious as to why someone who clearly looked like an ordinary civilian had been specially admitted by Dean Jing Hongchen himself.

"That's right, Huo Yuhao. Now let's go check out the academic facilities."

Next, Teacher Yu led him through the library, the study rooms, and the laboratories… The cutting-edge learning environments, reflecting the academy's wealth and scale, left Huo Yuhao completely astonished.

Even in his past life, where he'd attended a top-tier, heavily-funded university, Huo Yuhao had never seen such lavish educational facilities.

Finally, they arrived at the teaching area where students typically had their classes.

The classroom layout reminded Huo Yuhao of his middle and high school days from his previous life.

"By the way, Huo Yuhao, I'm also the homeroom teacher for your class—First Year Class One. Class will start shortly, and I'll be bringing you in for your first lesson. You might want to think about how you'd like to introduce yourself to your classmates."

Walking through the hallway, Huo Yuhao showed no signs of nervousness—unlike his past self.

In his previous life, he was the type who feared public self-introductions. But after enduring ten years of hardship in this world, he could introduce himself ten thousand times if it meant he got to enjoy such a peaceful student life.

Teacher Yu stepped into the classroom first, signaling for Huo Yuhao to wait by the door.

The inside of the classroom looked nothing like the high school ones from Huo Yuhao's past—it was much larger, more similar to a university lecture hall, though a bit smaller in scale.

Huo Yuhao watched as Teacher Yu quieted the room and then said:

"Class, today we'll be welcoming a new student into our classroom family."

At this point, he hesitated, remembering Dean Jing's specific instructions on what to tell the class about Huo Yuhao.

"This student is an exceptional individual. He didn't go through the entrance examination—he was specially recruited. Let's welcome Huo Yuhao."

The class erupted in whispers. The Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy might carry the word "royal" in its name, but it didn't abide by any aristocratic traditions—soul engineering ability was everything. Even nobles couldn't get in without merit.

So hearing that Huo Yuhao was a special admit made the students curious—and suspicious.

When Teacher Yu motioned for him to enter, Huo Yuhao, puzzled by the dramatic intro, calmly stepped up onto the podium.

The moment the girls in the classroom saw his bright blue eyes and that slightly baby-faced but handsome look, the quiet chatter among them resumed at full volume.

"Hey, hey, look at that new special student. He's so cute."

"Hehe, totally my type."

"Mhm, agreed."

The boys, who were already skeptical about his special admit status, now looked at him with added hostility.

Compared to the more conservative styles of the Star Luo Empire and the other nations, girls in the Sun Moon Empire were notably more open and outgoing.

But Huo Yuhao didn't care what these mentally immature kids thought of him. Calm and composed, he walked up to the chalkboard and wrote his name with clean strokes. Turning to face the class, he smiled and said:

"Hello everyone. My name is Huo Yuhao, as written on the board. I'm very honored to study here at the most prestigious academy of the Sun Moon Empire alongside the best and brightest of our generation. I look forward to learning with all of you."

He gave the class a respectful bow.

"Wow, even his voice sounds so nice."

Some of the girls were already dreaming up romantic fantasies. Even the boys began to ease their frowns after hearing his genuine tone.

"Well done, Huo Yuhao. You can sit over there."

Teacher Yu pointed to an open seat.

Once Huo Yuhao was settled in, Yu cleared his throat to quiet the students, especially the curious girls eyeing the new arrival, and began class.

"Alright then, let's begin. Today's course on Core Formation Theory will be an introductory lecture on soul tool shells and the core arrays behind soul-guided artillery shells. This topic should especially interest the boys—and it's also the foundational knowledge behind our military's strength."

The boys in class immediately perked up with excitement.

Huo Yuhao also looked intrigued. After all, as a former 21st-century Earthling, it was hard not to be awed by overwhelming firepower. The destructive might of modern weapons had long since shaken the world during the Second World War.

"First, let's review the basics. Huo Yuhao, why don't you explain the definition of a core array in soul engineering?"

Under the gaze of his classmates, Huo Yuhao stood up calmly and answered:

"A core array is a fundamental structure inscribed by a soul engineer using soul power onto rare metals or gemstones. It forms the operational basis of a soul tool. The level of a soul tool is determined by the complexity of its core array—the more complex the array, the higher the demand for the soul engineer's spirit power and soul power."

Teacher Yu nodded, pleasantly surprised. It seemed this special student wasn't lacking in his textbook knowledge after all.

In truth, with Huo Yuhao's deep familiarity with the original timeline, answering these kinds of basic questions was no problem. But if the questions got too detailed, he couldn't just start improvising like Tang San.

Which is why Huo Yuhao quietly resolved to head to the library and catch up on soul engineering knowledge as soon as class ended.
