Chapter 181 - Chapter 181: The Gluttonous Auspicious Beast

Aside from the warm sense of kinship she felt from the life energy in that eye, the Auspicious Beast also sensed an extremely dangerous and terrifying aura—yet even that aura stirred a subtle familiarity within her.

She stared wide-eyed at the Eye of Creation and Annihilation on Huo Yuhao's forehead, scheming a little in her heart. Now that Huo Yuhao's identity as the envoy of the Goddess of Life had been confirmed, she had to stay by his side and observe him closely. She had come here for the future of soul beasts and needed to know if this human could truly be trusted—if he was someone who could lead soul beasts toward a better tomorrow.

"We share the same source of power. Quite a coincidence, huh, Xiao Rui? You haven't absorbed any soul rings yet, have you? What's your soul power level?" Huo Yuhao asked gently.

Pulled back from her thoughts, the Auspicious Beast lowered her voice and replied, "No... I don't know what my level is. I just know the soul power in my body hasn't increased in a long time."

Huo Yuhao immediately understood what she meant—she'd hit the bottleneck at level 10 but hadn't absorbed a soul ring, so her cultivation had stalled.

Of course, this was a lie—but not one the Auspicious Beast told without confidence. Although she already had six soul rings, she could easily conceal them. As for soul skills, she had enough innate powers to cover for them.

Even if this Xiao Rui didn't possess life energy, Huo Yuhao would still have taken her in. He simply couldn't bear the thought of leaving such a small girl on her own. And naturally, Meng Hongchen supported him. She adored Xiao Rui already and was even thinking about bringing her to live at the Hongchen Manor.

"Alright then, Xiao Rui. Would you like to live with us? That way, you won't have to be alone anymore. Your martial soul, the Life Eye, is quite high-level. Judging by your age and your soul power, you must've had good innate power. We'll help you with your soul rings—you can't let your talent go to waste."

"Okay!" Xiao Rui's eyes sparkled as she gave her happiest answer since meeting them. Her goal was complete—she could now stay by this human life envoy's side, disguised as a clueless little girl.

'Heh, from now on, you two better take good care of this noble Auspicious Beast,' she thought smugly.

Seeing Xiao Rui's excited response, Meng Hongchen made a gleeful "yay" gesture and said, "Come on, Xiao Rui! Let's get you washed up and dressed in something pretty. You'll look even better that way."

"Wow..."

Inside the emperor suite of the hotel, Xiao Rui had just finished washing off all the dust. Her emerald-green hair shimmered like precious gemstones, and dressed in a simple white dress, she looked just like a little life fairy from heaven.

Meng Hongchen couldn't help but gasp in awe at her beauty. Even Huo Yuhao nodded repeatedly. 'How gorgeous is she going to be when she grows up?'

Despite basking in the compliments, Xiao Rui still feigned a bashful expression. "Really... do I look good?"

Meng Hongchen nodded like a bobblehead. "Of course! You look amazing!" Then she pulled Xiao Rui to a full-length mirror.

Seeing her own reflection clearly for the first time, Xiao Rui stared in a daze. 'Huh, So this is what I look like...'

It wasn't that she was narcissistic—it's just that, as a soul beast newly transformed into a human, she had no real concept of her appearance. All she had seen so far were vague reflections in rivers and ponds during her long journey.

"Pretty, right?"

"Mhm!" Xiao Rui chirped.

"Hehe, such a pretty girl deserves a good outing. Let's go eat something delicious, how about that?"

The moment Meng Hongchen mentioned "delicious food," Xiao Rui's eyes lit up like stars. She absolutely loved human cuisine. "Yes please, big sister!" she responded eagerly.

Nearby, Huo Yuhao suddenly squatted down, making himself about the same height as a child, and waddled over to Meng Hongchen like a kid. Then, in a whiny voice, he said, "Sister, baby wants food too~"

Meng Hongchen burst into laughter at his antics. Xiao Rui, on the other hand, was speechless. 'Is this guy really the human life envoy? Where's your dignity?!'

"Aiya, Yuhao, we were gonna take you anyway. You're not even embarrassed doing this in front of a child."

Despite her mock scolding, Meng Hongchen reached out and grabbed both of their hands. "Alright, you two kids. Let's go!"

"Okay!"

"Okay!"

In the best seafood restaurant in Rising Sun City, Meng Hongchen stared in disbelief, mouth forming an 'O' shape.

She was already used to Huo Yuhao's bottomless appetite. But Xiao Rui? That petite, delicate-looking little girl was devouring seafood like a storm! Plate after plate was disappearing like magic.

The first full table of dishes was completely wiped clean before she could even enjoy a few bites herself.

"Waiter, another table of food, please. And take away this pile of plates while you're at it," Huo Yuhao said casually, wiping his mouth.

The waiter looked at the near-hundred plates stacked on the table and fell silent. 'How… how did they eat this much?'

Not that Meng Hongchen cared. As the young lady of the Hongchen Clan, money was never an issue.

"You two just keep eating. Don't choke yourselves now," she said with a sigh.

Eventually, Huo Yuhao finally leaned back, satisfied. And then he and Meng Hongchen realized something: Xiao Rui was still eating.

As soon as the second round of food arrived, Xiao Rui launched into it like a dragon demolishing a buffet, clearing plate after plate in a blur.

It wasn't too surprising, actually. As a holder of golden dragon blood, her appetite was naturally enormous.

Of course, Huo Yuhao and Meng Hongchen didn't know that. All they knew was—

Xiao Rui was a total glutton.
