Although Xu Tiannan's coronation ceremony was grand, it remained largely conventional and even low-key in some respects. This, of course, was intentional—a performance staged for the Three Kingdoms of Douluo.
'Look, I, Xu Tiannan, have no intention of unifying the world or renaming the continent the Sun-Moon Continent. Really, I don't. Please believe me.'
However, one particular move stood out during the ceremony. Xu Tiannan's very first decree after ascending the throne was to officially designate Mingde Hall as the Sun-Moon Empire's Supreme Soul Tool Research Academy and its primary soul tool manufacturing authority. With this proclamation, Mingde Hall would receive full financial backing and favorable policy support from the imperial family and the national government.
And it wasn't just a symbolic declaration—this was an imperial edict. The implications were immense.
For many outsiders, the source of the mysterious force that annihilated one of the Northern Duke's soul engineer regiments finally became clear: it was Mingde Hall all along.
With the full support of the empire's leadership, Mingde Hall now stood at the forefront of a sweeping, top-down industrial revolution—one that would reshape the Sun-Moon Empire from the inside out.
Naturally, as one of the hall's key project leaders, Huo Yuhao—armed with the mindset of a 21st-century Earthling—was destined to play a major role.
The very moment the coronation ended, Huo Yuhao wasted no time and immediately launched the massive national project he had long planned: the construction of the Sun-Moon Power Grid.
Using sealed milk bottles to charge civilian soul tools was far too inefficient and costly. It would never meet the demands of large-scale public use. The only feasible energy source was electricity—easy to generate, easy to store, and practical to distribute. And to spread that electricity nationwide, a power grid was indispensable.
Thus, the national electric grid proposal submitted by Huo Yuhao quickly received imperial approval. It was formally named the Sun-Moon Power Grid and construction began without delay. In truth, the project wasn't terribly expensive—after all, the required materials, such as refined iron and copper, were already abundant in the empire's reserves.
Of course, to have a grid, one must first have power plants. On Earth, the most common types were thermal, hydroelectric, and nuclear. The Sun-Moon Empire had coal, so logically, a thermal plant would be the simplest to build.
But Huo Yuhao wasn't interested in following Earth's logic. This was a world of soul power—an energy source leagues beyond anything Earth had to offer. To waste such a potent resource by sticking to conventional thinking would be a betrayal of the advantage he, as a transmigrator, possessed.
So instead of thermal plants, Huo Yuhao opted to build soul power plants.
In essence, these power stations would function like massive sealed milk bottles. They would absorb soul power from the environment, store it, and then convert it into electricity using specialized soul tools.
A standard thermal plant on Earth generated anywhere from 300,000 to 1 million kilowatts. A soul power plant, on the other hand, could reach an astonishing 100 million kilowatts—far surpassing the largest nuclear power facility on Earth, which peaked at 6.43 million kilowatts.
That alone proved just how extraordinary soul power was as an energy source.
Of course, massive energy output also came with massive consumption. So even a plant producing 100 million kilowatts would eventually be outpaced by a future where electric soul tools were used nationwide.
Still, if they could one day obtain the radioactive core elements used in the future's twelfth-level fixed soul cannon shells and harness the fission reactions between those cores to generate power, they might be able to construct something akin to a nuclear reactor. Such a system would produce nearly limitless energy.
Whether such fusion-based processes were possible in the current Douluo world was still unknown. But if it could be done, then the world would witness the rise of fusion reactors beyond imagination.
For now, however, that was a distant dream. It wasn't until ten thousand years later that scientists could even extract such radioactive cores—and those cores were also the key to manufacturing terrifying weapons like twelfth-level fixed cannon shells. Huo Yuhao had no intention of poking that hornet's nest before the time was right.
For now, the construction of the Sun-Moon Power Grid had been approved and finalized. Once building began, the actual work no longer required Huo Yuhao's constant involvement.
The grid would span the entire central region, linking five major cities: Sunrise City, Moonwatch City, Mingdu, Frostmoon City, and Barren Sun City. These five cities would each host a central transmission and power station, serving as the hubs for the empire's National Power Grid. From these hubs, the network would branch into five regional power administrations: the National, Southern, Northern, Western, and Eastern Sun-Moon Power Grids.
With the grid taking shape, the production of power-compatible soul tools also had to begin. Huo Yuhao assigned this task to a trusted administrator and arranged for his student Wang Dong to join the effort as an intern.
For soul tool education, nothing beat real-world experience. And for Wang Dong to have Huo Yuhao as a mentor and participate in such a pivotal national project—it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
That said, it was also an excuse. Huo Yuhao needed to focus on other things and didn't have time to continue personally mentoring Wang Dong. How much she could learn from the experience would ultimately depend on her own talent and effort.
While the electric grid was underway, another massive national project was added to the docket: the national railway.
Upon witnessing the speed and efficiency of the prototype train built by Mingde Hall, Xu Tiannan was ecstatic. He immediately approved the expansion of the railway system.
In this world where horse-drawn carts were still the main mode of transport, trains powered by soul energy were a massive leap forward. The first-generation trains already matched the speed of Earth's high-speed rail.
And the railways were only part of it.
Alongside the grid and railway, a highway system for soul-powered vehicles was proposed. The naval fleet upgrade program, a spaceflight testing initiative, and national-scale armor production were also put on the agenda.
Simply put, the moment Xu Tiannan took power, he was determined to usher in a new era of industrialization and national transformation.
And with all these grand projects now staffed and scheduled, Huo Yuhao's responsibilities within Mingde Hall had significantly decreased.
He could finally step back—at least for a while.
