Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 - Asuma Puts on the Mask

Behind the house, in a small grove.

"As ninjas, the most commonly used ninja tools are shuriken and kunai..." Kurenai Yuhi mimicked their class teacher, shaking her head and speaking as she taught.

Shuriken, commonly known as throwing stars, are a type of thrown concealed weapon.

Kunai, resembling throwing knives or daggers, can be used both as close-range weapons and as throwing weapons.

These two tools are essential and often kept in the ninja's waist pouch.

There are also advanced techniques, such as the Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique or Kunai Manipulation Techniques.

"Today, we are learning kunai throwing." Kurenai Yuhi pulled out a kunai and said.

The real reason for this was that she had only recently joined the school, and the ninja academy had only taught kunai throwing. She didn't feel entirely confident about it yet, especially in front of Yukawa, which made her a bit nervous, afraid of failure.

With a tense face, Kurenai Yuhi threw the kunai with all her might.

With a clang, the kunai hit the wooden post but missed the target.

Kurenai Yuhi's face flushed a little.

She met Yukawa's eyes and quickly defended herself, "I... I was aiming outside the target." "Right, right, sure," Yukawa replied, resisting a laugh and nodding.

He had received professional training, and no matter how amusing it was, he wouldn't laugh.

"Now, let's get to the real kunai throwing!" Kurenai Yuhi focused again on the wooden post and threw another kunai with great determination.

Under her prayer-like wish, the kunai hit the bullseye, and she let out a quiet cheer.

So I'm pretty accurate after all!

Her lips couldn't suppress a smile as she asked, "How was that?"

"You're really impressive." Yukawa praised with a smile.

"Now, it's your turn!" Kurenai Yuhi, pleased with his understanding, walked over and handed him a kunai.

Yukawa took a deep breath, focused, and flicked his right hand, throwing the kunai.

As expected, there was an unexpected result.

He didn't hit the wooden post.

Kurenai Yuhi felt a little relieved upon seeing this.

It seemed his talent was more in chakra control.

Yukawa didn't think much of it. In his previous life, he could barely hit three or four in a row.

But that didn't matter. He had his "perks."

As long as he could unlock those perks, everything would improve.

"It's normal for your first try to be a little off. Just keep practicing." Kurenai Yuhi reassured him as she handed him another kunai.

Yukawa accepted the kunai and continued his attempts.

Time passed, and before long, less than an hour later, Yukawa felt his strength drained, sitting down on the grass.

But his mood was still delightful because the system had given him a new update.

[E-rank Talent Perk: Ninja Tool Throwing (Not Obtained)][Trigger Condition: Shuriken and Kunai throwing reach entry-level proficiency.][Current Progress: 1%.]

A good progress bar that made his internal engine spin faster.

So, all he needed was shuriken and kunai?

No wonder this was just an E-rank perk.

Breathing heavily, Yukawa went into deep thought.

"Your body's a bit weak." Kurenai Yuhi commented bluntly, "I can practice for hours straight."

"I just haven't trained before." Yukawa decided to explain the situation.

But Kurenai Yuhi was right; his body was too weak.

Though in his past life, he was also the kind of person who would struggle with a 1-kilometer run.

For ninjas, body training is just as important as chakra and ninjutsu training.

And Yukawa believed that training his body would also trigger the relevant perk.

At this moment, footsteps approached.

"Papa!" Kurenai Yuhi's face lit up with excitement.

She ran forward and took the three-colored dumplings from her father, Asuma Sarutobi.

"Here you go." Kurenai Yuhi didn't eat immediately but handed him a portion.

"Thanks." Yukawa took a bite and found it overly sweet.

He finally understood why Anko Mitarashi could turn into a sweet potato-like shape.

"You're still young, you shouldn't train too much." Asuma Sarutobi glanced at the wooden post and the scattered kunai and said, "That's enough for today. Rest well; you still have school tomorrow."

School, huh? Yukawa stared at Kurenai Yuhi as she licked her three-colored dumpling with her little pink tongue, momentarily dazed.

He wondered what kind of classmates he would meet.

As a fan of the original series, seeing the living supporting characters was quite exciting.

As for the main characters, they hadn't been born yet.

The next day came quickly.

Kurenai Yuhi was startled awake by a familiar sound.

She got out of bed, opened the window, and saw Yukawa practicing his kunai throwing.

So dedicated?

Kurenai Yuhi's mouth slightly opened in surprise.

Although children in the ninja world mature earlier, not many would be this self-motivated.

In her view, it was already enough to focus in class.

Out-of-class training? After so many lessons, it was time to enjoy life and play around.

Kurenai Yuhi bit her lip.

She felt a sense of crisis, afraid of being surpassed.

If she really lost to Yukawa, her dream of being the leader would be over.

No! Kurenai Yuhi's eyes seemed to burn with fiery determination.

"Good morning, Red." Yukawa wiped the sweat from his forehead and looked at her.

She was wearing white pajamas, her black hair slightly curled and a bit messy.

It was a pity she was still too young, with a rather plain figure.

In the original story, she was quite the big sister type.

"You're training with me from now on!" Kurenai Yuhi placed her hands on her hips and declared, "I can't let you train alone in secret!"

"No problem." Yukawa smiled and agreed.

Training alone was no match for training with a cute, little girl; that was truly a pleasure.

Once again, he reassured himself that he wasn't a lolicon.

"Red." After breakfast, Asuma handed them each a bento box and said, "Remember to take Yukawa to meet the teacher."

"Ugh, you already said that yesterday." Kurenai Yuhi rolled her eyes and responded, "I know already!"

"Goodbye, Uncle Asuma." Yukawa waved goodbye and followed the bouncing Kurenai Yuhi.

As he walked, he observed the surroundings.

He had seen Konoha in the anime, but the real Konoha felt completely different.

"Hm?" Yukawa raised an eyebrow.

Ahead, to the left, a child stood on top of the fence.

He was wearing a white vest and crossed his arms, staring coolly at the sky.

It wasn't until Kurenai Yuhi walked past that he finally coughed.

"Asuma? What are you doing up there?" Kurenai Yuhi noticed his voice and looked up.

Asuma Sarutobi, son of the Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi, was there.

In the original story, he married Kurenai Yuhi and later died at the hands of Hidan of the Akatsuki.

Yukawa raised an eyebrow. Without the characteristic beard, he hadn't realized it was Asuma Sarutobi.

Is he already interested in Kurenai Yuhi at this age?

But that made sense.

Sakura Haruno and Ino Yamanaka also started their pursuits of Sasuke Uchiha at the ninja academy.

Asuma Sarutobi leaped down and landed smoothly.

He turned to Yukawa, hands in his pockets, and asked, "Red, who is this? I've never seen him before."

From the top of the fence, he had already noticed him, feeling a strong sense of danger.

He didn't want anyone more handsome than him to be near Kurenai Yuhi.

"He's Yukawa." Kurenai Yuhi answered without suspicion, "He's a transfer student who joined our class today."

"Oh?" Asuma Sarutobi paused for a moment, then asked, "How do you know him?"

"Because Yukawa lives at my house." Kurenai Yuhi tilted her head and replied.

"...?" Asuma Sarutobi froze in place.

Hold on, bro, I haven't even held her hand, and you're already living with her? This feels painful!

Asuma Sarutobi put on a painful mask.
