Chapter 294 - Chapter 294: Sir, That Is Not Rin

"It's about time to make a move."

Looking at the prosperous Konohagakure before him, Obito silently muttered these words in his heart.

Right now, he had already released that "Evolver" from the otherworldly space, and he had also spent some time carefully observing him.

It had to be said that this "Evolver" indeed seemed to be genuinely somewhat strong.

Even though he had been extremely cautious, that "Evolver" always seemed capable of detecting him.

Such a situation surprised even him, and the power within that "Evolver" was also terrifyingly strong.

"That power is somewhat similar to Ōtsutsuki Genshiki's, except why does this guy feel like his mind isn't quite normal?"

Obito felt slightly puzzled in his heart. That guy was terrifyingly strong and also exceptionally keen.

But the whole person appeared somewhat muddle-headed, with slightly vacant eyes, as though he couldn't find any direction at all.

"This is also an 'Evolver'? Or is this a failed 'Evolver'?"

Obito tilted his head, then couldn't be bothered to think further. Something this off in the head was, instead, not a bad thing for him.

"You really think everyone is like you, capable of bearing my 'Kāma'?"

While Obito went to look for Kabuto to get information, Isshiki shook his head disdainfully.

"Kāma" truly wasn't something ordinary people could withstand. Jigen had already been barely managing it, and throughout all these years his test subjects had almost never succeeded.

A sealed "White Kāma"—still a "White Kāma" without his will and soul information—but even so, because its power was too strong, it had turned out like that.

"If it had even the slightest use, I wouldn't have ended up using it as bait."

Of course, he wasn't exactly heartbroken over using it as bait. After all, he had already intended to "clean it up."

And taking advantage of these "White Kāma" to understand Genshiki's situation wasn't a bad thing at all!

"When that power that belongs to me erupts, it should be able to draw Genshiki over, and not just Genshiki."

Isshiki pondered silently, while Obito had already completed the contact with Yakushi Kabuto, and then turned to head toward the hospital.

This made Isshiki shake his head, not wanting to think further. He now had only one thought.

"Hurry up and get this idiot under control. I can't let him keep causing trouble."

Obito apparently still had not noticed that there was an uninvited guest inside his body; he merely silently came into the hospital of Konohagakure.

"It seems Konohagakure is preparing to use Uchiha Itachi's eyes for him."

Sasuke was now staying in the hospital; this already showed Konohagakure's intentions, but what could this change?

"Only 'evolution' is the final direction."

Walking all the way to the door of the ward where Sasuke was, Obito went straight through the wall and walked inside.

First make a move on Sasuke, then draw in Kitagawa Gen and fight him; if that really didn't work, then go to Kirigakure.

In any case, he felt that his plan would have no problems!

"You're finally here?"

However, at the instant he had just stepped into Sasuke's ward, a calm voice suddenly rang out.

This voice instantly made Obito's expression change in shock; turning his head to look, he saw a person standing by the windowsill inside the ward!

Silvery moonlight spilled over this person's body; he was standing with his back to him, as though looking at the scenery outside the window.

"Kitagawa Gen."

Yet Obito still recognized at once who this person was; this back view was simply too familiar to him!

"You knew I was coming?"

"Don't think too highly of yourself. I noticed you the first time you came to Konohagakure."

Kitagawa Gen simply did not turn around, not even sparing Obito so much as a glance.

"Your chakra signature is still very easy to recognize. The only reason I didn't make a move on you was because I wanted to figure out what you were trying to do; now I know."

"..."

Obito was somewhat silent, and his gaze also became incomparably vigilant, only for Kitagawa Gen to calmly continue speaking.

"Actually, I've always been very curious about one thing; I don't know if you can help me answer it."

"What do you want to know?"

"Do you actually know what you're doing?"

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean is, do you actually know what you yourself are doing?"

At this moment, Kitagawa Gen turned his head, and a trace of doubt indeed appeared in his gaze.

Although he more or less knew some of Obito's motives, this guy had been in Kirigakure for so many years—could he really not have investigated the truth of that year?

In addition, he was also very curious about one thing, and that was Kakashi's eye.

This guy had never thought this way before, and now he still didn't seem to be thinking this way; one had to know that he was already about to get pounded to pieces!

Of course, what was even more curious was whether Obito had noticed that he was close to no longer being himself.

"What exactly am I doing?"

Obito stared at Kitagawa Gen, and after a moment he suddenly let out a cold laugh.

"What I'm going to do is far grander than you imagine, and the goal I want to achieve is absolutely beyond anything you can imagine!"

"Is that so?"

Kitagawa Gen tilted his head.

"Have you never felt that there seems to be something on your heart? Have you never considered the current relationship between Konohagakure and Kirigakure, that it's very hard for us not to be clear about what happened back then?"

"If you're talking about that, then all it proves is your shallowness."

Obito curled his lips disdainfully and spoke in a low voice.

"Of course I know the problem with my own body, and of course I know everything that happened back then, but so what?"

"Oh?"

Kitagawa Gen raised an eyebrow, and Obito continued speaking in a deep voice.

"This world is not as beautiful as you imagine. This world is nothing but a hell! The peace you enjoy—who knows how many people gave their lives for it.

"And that kind of peace is false to begin with; perhaps one day a war could break out again right here."

Speaking up to this point, even he himself became somewhat agitated.

"Of course I know everything they did to me, but that also made me see a certain truth. This hell must be changed, and I must do something, I—"

"So, you still want to kill everyone?"

Kitagawa Gen suddenly interrupted Obito before he could finish.

"After all, where there are people, there is conflict; where there are people, there is war. If you want true peace, then you have to deal with all the people."

"..."

Obito felt this line sounded strangely familiar, and he subconsciously refuted it.

"I'm not as extreme as you think…"

"Then it's pulling people into some genjutsu?"

Kitagawa Gen interrupted Obito once again, sizing Obito up from top to bottom.

"After all, haven't you always been saying you want to 'create a peaceful world where Rin and everyone exist'?"

"..."

Obito fell silent; he felt like he had been baited into giving away information.

"Think whatever you want. This world of suffering has no reason to exist in the first place. I will definitely use my own way to create a peaceful world!"

"So, the reason you're not taking back Kakashi-sensei's eye is actually also because you want to cut off the bonds of your past?"

Kitagawa Gen seemed to somewhat understand Obito, only his expression became even stranger.

"No wonder the Second said you Uchiha are all lunatics. Once you go crazy, you really don't recognize anyone. Weren't your sensei and his wife quite good to you?"

"Don't make yourself sound so noble!"

Obito gave a cold snort, his chakra faintly circulating.

"Have you killed few people? How many died when you raided Kumogakure—don't you know that in your own heart?"

"That's where I'm different from you."

Kitagawa Gen let out a sigh. He slowly drew his short blade, his hair and the hem of his clothes rising without wind at this moment.

"My usual way of solving problems is to eliminate the root of the problem—and if that really doesn't work, then eliminate the one who raised the problem."

"?"

"Someone like you, who wants to flip the entire table in one go and act recklessly on your own, is truly rare. Actually, I still have two more questions."

"..."

"First, with everything you've done, do you think that after you die, Nohara Rin will mourn for you?"

Kitagawa Gen looked at Obito. In that instant, his chakra surged violently, and he appeared once again right before Obito.

The White Fang short blade in his hand was already drawn; that furious chakra shockwave made the entire space seem as though it were twisting!

Uchiha Obito gave a cold snort. His figure flickered in an instant, and in the blink of an eye he had already arrived outside the hospital.

[Vmm—]

However, that wind-tearing blade sound still echoed by his ear, and Kitagawa Gen's voice rang out once again.

"Second, do you truly know who you are right now?"

[Boom—]

A violent airflow instantly swept across the entire area where Obito was. Even though he hid within Kamui, he could clearly sense the terror of Kitagawa Gen's attack.

It wasn't just him; even Isshiki, who was hiding inside the consciousness space, had a somewhat grave expression.

"Has this guy noticed something, or…"

That Kitagawa Gen could erupt with such power truly didn't surprise him. After all, he was someone capable of fighting that insane clansman of his.

Only, he hadn't expected that Kitagawa Gen seemed to have noticed that something was wrong with Obito.

"And also, after fighting Genshiki, this guy seems to have gotten even stronger?"

At this moment, Kitagawa Gen's entire body was wrapped in natural chakra, and such density was even more frightening than when he had fought Genshiki at that time.

In just such a short span of time, the change was actually this great; he somewhat understood why Genshiki had taken a liking to this guy.

"However, this also makes it very hard for me to probe further, especially inside the Kamui space—hm?"

Yet just as he was puzzled, he suddenly discovered that Obito had actually slipped out of the Kamui space.

"Hmph, you really are shameless. Your strength has already reached this level and you still want to affect my state of mind?"

Obito took a deep breath. He clenched his fists, and the chakra on his body kept gathering.

"But I'm sorry to tell you, if I lose, I won't end up like Kakashi, unable to receive Rin's mourning!"

"?"

Kitagawa Gen froze for a moment, while Obito's power continued to erupt. He stared fixedly at Kitagawa Gen and spoke.

"I received her guidance. It was under her constant encouragement that I understood what I needed to do!"

As he spoke, he himself did not even notice that black stripes had already spread across his body.

He only felt his power becoming incomparably full, and at this moment he seemed to have become even stronger.

"Don't think only you can move toward 'evolution'. With Rin standing behind me, with her guidance, I can too!"

With a roar, Obito's power completely released, and in this moment he truly seemed to have evolved.

"..."

Only, at this moment, Kitagawa Gen's eyes widened.

'Isshiki… Rin? What kind of twisted story is this?'

"..."

And Isshiki, at this moment, also looked exceptionally pained.

"Why is it that the people I choose all have problems?"
