Chapter 21 - New Day

Midoria

Every day is a new day.

These were the words that came to my mind as I lay newly awake in my warm bed, bathed in the sunlight that filled my room that morning.

I felt tired this morning, probably a reaction from my body to crying so much yesterday. I pulled the blanket up over my head and let my body rest a little longer.

Someone was calling my phone, so I pulled my arm out from under the blanket and put the phone to my ear.

"Hello?"

"Good morning, young Midoria, I think I woke you up. I spoke to the principal and he asked me to tell you that your suspension has been revoked, don't be late for school today."

"Really? Thank you so much All Might! I'm getting ready for school right away."

After finishing the phone call, I threw my phone onto the bed and screamed with joy.

Today felt different, as if the burden I'd been carrying all this time had finally been lifted. Today would be different; it was time to focus on the future.

Just as I was about to reach for the classroom doorknob, another hand grabbed it. When I looked in the direction the hand came from, I realized it was the girl I'd saved during the UA entrance exam.

"Good morning~ A! You're the guy who saved me in the UA entrance exam!"

"Y-yes, that's me. I'm Izuku Midoria."

"Ochoco Uraraka, nice to meet you Midoria."

She shook the hand I offered her; I'd already made my first friend. New school, new friends, new life.

We entered the classroom chatting, and as we reached my desk, a man with glasses approached us, greeted Uraraka, and then turned to me.

"My name is Tenya IIda,you're the guy who got punished on the first day of school.."

"IIdaaaa, don't say that, he probably didn't take the punishment willingly."

"Do you know him?"

"Yes, I met him at the UA entrance exam, and he saved my life there."

Uraraka's words made me feel a little embarrassed, and my flushed cheeks betrayed me once again. I tried to change the subject by introducing myself. After we introduced ourselves, Aizawa sensei entered the classroom and asked us to take our seats.

When the class started, something felt missing, and while I was trying to figure out what it was, I realized Kacchan hadn't come to school.

He must have received a restraining order too, but it seems his punishment hasn't been lifted.

I was starting to feel a little sad; the reality that Kacchan wouldn't be with me was hitting me. Anyway, I shouldn't fill my head with such things. I chose this path.Of course, there will be aspects that will upset me, but all of this is temporary.

My classes somehow finished, and I started walking back to the dorm. I could swear my bed was calling to me right now.

As I walked slowly along the road, my attention was drawn to a familiar blonde guyleaning against a tree.

Suddenly, my depleted energy surged, and I tried to get back into the dorm faster than I ever had before.

I'm not ready to face him.

"Deku, wait."

He grabbed my arm, but this time he didn't try to hurt me.

I couldn't even look him in the face, but I wanted to forgive him and pretend like nothing had ever happened. But this time that won't happen.

"Deku, look at me. I just want to talk a little."

His voice sounded so tired and pleading that I unconsciously turned to face him.

The first thing that caught my attention on his face were the huge, dark bags under his eyes. He looked so tired, and it broke my heart.

"Okay, what do you want to talk about, Bakugo?"
