Black Room:
The room's air was heavy because of Caleb's presence.
He was standing with rage and hatred in his eyes. The man was tied to the chair, blood dripping from his mouth but still smirking, as if he'd already won something Caleb hadn't realized he lost.
Caleb took a slow step forward, his voice low and dangerous. I ask you a question.
"Why did you do it?"
The man laughed, a broken, bitter sound. "Because she's the reason I lost my family." Caleb didn't flinch—but something in his eyes changed. A flash of confusion. Then fury, darker than before.
"What the hell are you talking about?" he growled, stepping closer. The man's eyes blazed with anger, voice shaking as he spat out the truth. "Her father… to save that girl, he killed my wife!"
Villain: "I came here to kill her... so her father would know what it feels like to lose someone dear. But..." He pauses, eyes darkening. His voice cracks with disbelief.
"...He's dead. I didn't know that. "He lowers his head, silent for a moment. Then, slowly, he lifts it again — a proud, wicked smile spreading across his face. "But you know what?" He chuckles coldly. "I felt something even better. When she was drowning... watching her struggle, gasping for breath—that made me happy. "His eyes glint with cruelty. "And the fear in her eyes, Maya... when she was begging me to save her—" he laughs "—that was priceless."
That made Caleb angrier. He grabbed the gun from the guard's hand and pressed it against his head, his anger burning through him.
Caleb (furiously)"You made a big mistake. You laid a hand on the wrong person. She's now Caleb Romano's property.
Maya's room. Maya slowly opens her eyes.
Clara "Madam, do you need anything?"
Maya "Um, I'm just a little dizzy… Could you please bring me something to drink?"
A few minutes later, Clara enters carrying a cup of warm milk.
Clara "Here you go, Madam. Warm milk."
Maya "Thank you. "She looks up at Clara, then hesitates. "Um… where is Caleb?"
Clara "He's busy with some work in his office. But don't worry—he told me to take good care of you. If you need anything, just let me know."
Maya smiles "Sure, thank you."
Clara turns to leave but stops and looks back.
Clara (hesitating) "Madam, if you don't mind…Can I ask you something?"
She takes a deep breath, choosing her words carefully. "I'm sorry, I probably shouldn't, but…I've known Sir for many years, and he's never let anyone get this close to him. But he… he gave you a room right next to his." She glances nervously, waiting for Maya's reaction. Maya frowns, clearly confused, lost in thought.
Maya lost in thought: "I… never really thought about that."
Clara notices Maya's distant look and quickly steps back.
Clara: "I'm sorry, Madam. I didn't mean to pry."
She quickly leaves the room, closing the door behind her.
Maya held the cup tightly, staring into the warm milk as her mind raced.
Why? Why is he doing this? He even saved me…He didn't think about his own life back then, staying with me in the hospital. And now… he's given me a room right next to his. Why...?
And why did he never let anyone close to him? Everyone says it. Even Clara saw it. He always kept his distance.
Then why me?
Back to Caleb gun pointed straight at Villain's head
Villain You really think killing me will change anything? She needs to die. She's the reason I'm like this — alone, lost, chasing revenge. It wasn't even my fault…So why should I be the one to die?
Caleb "Because your biggest mistake…was putting your eyes on the wrong woman." His finger tightens on the trigger.
"And in my world… there's no mercy."
The room echoes with the sound of the gunshot.
The shot rang out. The man's body went still, head dropping forward. Caleb didn't move for a second. Then, he slowly lowered the gun and tossed it aside. It clattered to the floor.
Without a word, he walked over to the side table, picked up a towel, and wiped his hands. Calm. Like it was nothing new. He didn't even look at the body when he spoke.
Caleb: "Henrik. Clean it up."
Henrik stepped in quietly. He tossed the towel onto the dead man's chest and walked out like nothing happened.
Caleb Room: Caleb stood under the hot water, silent, his hands pressed against the wall. Steam curled around his body, tracing over the lines of his toned chest and back.
The blood was gone, but his expression hadn't changed. Cold. Sharp.
After a few minutes, he shut the water off, grabbed a towel, and stepped out — calm, controlled, like nothing had touched him. Caleb stepped out in a casual, well-fitted shirt and dark pants. In the hallway, he spotted Maya standing there.
Caleb stepped out of his room, his expression calm as always. Just outside, Maya stood quietly, as if she'd been waiting. She looked up at him the moment he appeared, her eyes holding something soft, unsure.
Caleb met her gaze. "What happened?" he asked, voice low. "Do you need anything?"
Maya looked at him, her eyes soft, confused.
What happened to him…? she wondered. "What happened to him… that made him stay so closed off from everyone? "Why does he look so lonely… even with so many people around him?
She didn't say anything. Just kept looking at him, lost in thoughts she didn't know how to put into words. Caleb noticed she was lost in thought. "Maya," he called, his voice low. She blinked, snapping out of it.
Maya: "Ah… I'm sorry."
She had something on her mind but held it back. Maybe now wasn't the right time.
Maya "Where were you?"
Caleb heard her question but didn't answer right away. He didn't want her to know what he'd done — not yet. The part of him she hadn't seen, the side soaked in blood and vengeance… he didn't want her to know.
His voice was calm when he finally spoke. "I was making sure no one will ever lay a hand—or even an eye—on you again."
Maya frowned, her voice sharp. "What… what did you do to him? "Before Caleb could answer, Clara appeared at the end of the hallway. "Dinner is ready, Sir, Madam. "The moment hung in the air as Caleb and Maya exchanged a look — the question unanswered for now.
At the dining table, they were eating silently. Caleb glanced at Maya, noticing how she poked at her food but didn't really eat. Her eyes seemed distant, lost in thoughts he couldn't reach. Caleb finally spoke, breaking the silence. "Are you alright?"
Maya sighed softly, pushing her food aside. "I don't really feel like eating," she admitted.
"I… I still don't understand why he did that to me."
He realized the shock hadn't worn off yet.
Caleb stood up and walked over to her. He knelt down, gently taking her hand in his. Maya looked at him, surprised by the sudden closeness.
"It's okay," Caleb said softly."I understand how you're feeling. You're scared."He squeezed her hand gently."But you can trust me. I promise… I'll never let anything happen to you."
His words made Maya's heart race, a warmth spreading through her chest. For the first time in a long while, she felt like she wasn't completely alone — like maybe, just maybe, she had someone to rely on in this lonely world.
