AYASHA'S POV
I stared at Pavati, her words ringing in my ears. The King might demote Koda. My mind refused to accept it. Koda: gone from the line of succession because of me. I clutched the edge of the bed, feeling cold sweat on my palms. Pavati was still talking, something gentle and comforting, but I could only hear the words that mattered: stripped, title, because of what he did to Liana.
Koda was a good person. Manipulative and diplomatic to a fault but he was a far cry from his father. Lamia could not lose someone like him. And how would he have even taken the news?
I shook my head, desperate to break free of the fog. I could not just stay here. I needed to see him, touch him, hear from his lips that he was fine. Laying here while Koda faced whatever storm I'd created was something I could not do. Not anymore.
"I can't stay here," I whispered, voice thin as tissue. "I have to see him."
Pavati blinked, surprised. "Ayasha, your body…your legs…are you sure you can—?"
