Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Storm Clouds

After entering the city, Gu Qinghuan and Shen Weize were placed in the guest house. The meticulously carved mahogany screens and the sandalwood-scented compartments revealed an air of dignity. As Gu Qinghuan walked along, she looked at this historical city with glowing eyes, while Shen Weize remained calm and pondered over their situation in silence.

"We are safe now, aren't we?" Gu Qinghuan put down her tea cup and asked in a soft voice.

"For the time being, yes, but the rules of this world are not yet clear." Shen Weize's tone was indifferent, his eyes swept towards the outside of the courtyard, and added in a low voice, "Moreover, I always feel that someone is secretly watching us."

As soon as his words left his mouth, there was a slight sound of footsteps at the door. A well-dressed butler walked in and respectfully cupped his fists, "Mr. Shen, the king's master has an invitation.

Shen Weize narrowed his eyes slightly: "Master Wang?" He and Gu Qinghuan exchanged glances.

He and Gu Qinghuan exchanged glances, and alarm bells rang loudly in their hearts. This crossing, is it not just a coincidence?

Shen Weize stepped into the royal residence, and when he entered the hall, he saw the young man sitting on the dragon chair. The man wore black and gold armor, his face was handsome, with a strong sense of authority between his eyebrows, and he actually resembled Shen Weize to a certain extent!

"Mr. Shen." The king's grandfather lightly opened his mouth, his eyes sharp, "I saw the jade pendant on your waist, I know that you are a nobleman in the North, but I have never heard of the Shen family having such a character. Who in the world are you ...?"

Gu Qinghuan stood aside, her heart thumping. She looked at Shen Weize, and a shock passed through her heart - these two people looked so much alike! Is this a coincidence, or is there something else going on?

Shen Weize pondered in his heart, and after a few moments, he smiled faintly: "The king's grandfather is mistaken, I am a member of the Shen family, my family has lived in the north for a long time, and I have never been involved in the court."

Wang Ye's eyes sank, did not answer immediately, his fingertips tapped on the desktop, the atmosphere suddenly condensed.

"Since you are a nobleman in the North, do you know the crisis on the border at this moment?" The king's tone was tentative.

Shen Weize frowned slightly, whispered back: "border ... crisis?"

"Exactly." The king's mouth hooked up a meaningful smile, "Since you also carry the Shen family bloodline, why don't you help the king to stabilize the war, how about it?"

Gu Qinghuan heard this and looked violently at Shen Weize, lowering her voice: "What's the situation? You're going to the battlefield?

Shen Weize's eyes were deep, and his inner doubts intensified - if he was really a member of the Shen family in this era, then was his existence a deviation of history or an arrangement of fate?

After all, Shen Weize does not refuse the king's invitation. He was well aware of the dangers of the world, and he had a sneaking feeling that perhaps the key to solving his own riddle lay in the midst of this war.

The night before he left for battle, he stood on the veranda of his mansion and watched the city light up in the night, his mind calm.

"You really want to go?" Gu Qinghuan came over to him, her eyes full of worry.

"I have to go." Shen Weize opened his mouth lightly, "I have to figure out the rules of this world myself."

Gu Qinghuan was silent for a few seconds, and finally gritted her teeth and said, "Then I'll go too!"

Shen Weize raised his eyebrows slightly, "What can you do?"

"I can't just wait here for the news, can I?" She grunted. She grunted, "Maybe I can even help you out!"

Shen Weize looked down at her, and the corners of his lips unconsciously curled up into a smile, "Whatever you want."

The next day, the war flag was flying and the sound of horses' hooves shook the earth. Shen Weize put on his battle armor and stood side by side with the king, looking at the distant frontier sands. Gu Qinghuan, on the other hand, changed into the uniform of a military herald and rode behind the troops.

This war will determine Shen Weize's fate in this world, and it will also affect Gu Qinghuan's destiny.

And they both know that the crossing is more complicated than they imagined.
