Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 – Are Shinobi Born Body-Training Geniuses in the One Piece World?

"It's not just me and Mom… almost everyone in the ninja world is born with this kind of cellular trait!"

"That means… if ninja world folks came to the One Piece world—or had access to its resources—then wouldn't they all be geniuses in physical training?"

Uchiha Genkei pondered this with narrowed eyes.

Of course, he wasn't naive. Even with three times the average number of cells, individual differences would still play a huge role.

Take Might Guy, for instance—his physical training talent far outstripped most.

"Hm. Once Might Guy is born, I should find a way to recruit him."

"Actually, I could start laying the groundwork now—build rapport with his father, Might Duy. Earn his loyalty. Maybe even contract him first."

Genkei made a mental note.

He was convinced Might Duy's talent wasn't far behind his son's.

The gap in their achievements came down to foundation and opportunity. Duy had built everything himself. The injuries he suffered perfecting the Eight Gates technique had severely limited his potential.

Resources? Forget it.

Compared to him, Guy at least had a parent supporting and guiding him—even if only modestly.

"You're catching on."

Kureha gave him a satisfied glance before turning to walk away. "Since I've shown you my sincerity—it's your turn. Time to hand over your medical texts."

Genkei followed, smiling. "They're all memorized. I've transcribed a hundred or so recently—you can start with those."

"I'll need time to copy the rest. Hope you don't mind."

Not that it would've mattered if she did.

"Oh?"

Kureha raised a brow at him but didn't doubt his words.

"Fair enough. A hundred should keep me busy for a while."

"You've got a freakish memory, kid."

Soon, they were back in the main room.

Under Kureha's watchful gaze, Genkei waved his hand and summoned over a hundred handwritten medical volumes from his space portal.

"These are the ones I've finished. You're free to read them—but I'm not giving you the originals. I'm not copying them again."

"If you want them, copy them yourself."

He had plans to trade some of these texts with Tsunade for her own medical ninjutsu records.

As for handing them over to the village?

He had no such intentions.

He wasn't ready to involve the Third Hokage's faction just yet.

"You little brat—you sure know how to bully an old lady!"

Kureha scowled but didn't press. She picked up a book and flipped it open.

As for the fact that he could summon books out of thin air?

She barely blinked.

In her hundred-plus years of life, she'd seen all kinds of weird Devil Fruit powers. Spatial storage wasn't exactly common—but not unheard of either.

"Heheh."

Genkei grinned. "You've got shelves full of medical books too. I'll probably have to copy everything by hand, won't I? Let's call it even."

Kureha snorted.

She had over three thousand texts in her collection. If Genkei planned to copy them all, he'd be here for years.

Fortunately, he didn't plan to.

His plan was simple: memorize them first, then transcribe only the ones he needed later.

Having a sharp mind really made life easier.

Later that day, with his mother Chiri, Genkei travelled to a nearby town to stock up on a large quantity of medicinal herbs—enough to last them a long while.

Returning home, he immediately began concocting medicine.

Though he was a little clumsy at first, he quickly grew proficient. Kureha noticed but didn't seem surprised.

After all, Genkei had past-life experience in pharmaceuticals. He was simply adjusting to his body.

Once he warmed up, everything flowed naturally.

[You have brewed a medicinal tonic. Alchemy +1, Traditional Medicine +1]

[You have...]

By the end, he had over twenty bottles.

Ten were tailored for his mother. The rest were for himself.

"Here, Mom—try one. Let's see how effective it is."

"Alright!"

Chiri tilted her head back and downed the contents.

Almost immediately, waves of warmth coursed through her veins.

Everywhere it touched, old wounds and chronic damage melted away.

Then—hunger.

Intense, bone-deep hunger.

As if he had foreseen this, Genkei waved his hand again and summoned a steaming spread of pre-prepared meals straight from his dimensional space.

"Eat first," he said calmly. "Then train. That's how we maximize results."

He downed a bottle himself and tucked the rest safely away.

Then he sat down to quietly observe his body's reaction.

[You have consumed a top-tier tonic. Physical recovery is in progress... Lifespan increasing...]

Genkei could feel it—his organs, weakened since birth, were rapidly regenerating.

Once the bulk of the medicine had been absorbed, that overwhelming hunger hit him, too.

He opened his eyes and joined his mother at the table, shovelling chunks of sea king meat into his mouth.

One bite—and warmth radiated from his gut outward.

His digestion was ten times better than when he first arrived in this world.

All thanks to weeks of nourishing food, physical conditioning, and his constant use of the Vitality Art.

After polishing off a full platter of meat, Genkei moved to the training area and resumed cultivating.

...

"As expected! Even better results than before. Perfect!"

Seeing the system notifications made him grin from ear to ear.

At this rate, he'd hit full recovery within the month—no problem.

"Kid—making all that medicine at once without a proper preservation method?"

"The potency's gonna degrade, you know."

Kureha glanced up from her reading to offer a reminder.

But inwardly, she was thinking: So this is the key to their rapid healing… Some kind of restorative cultivation method, huh? Not bad at all.

She was itching to learn it herself.

But now wasn't the time.

She didn't have anything to offer that could match its value.

She decided she'd wait, build trust—and when the time came, propose a fair trade for it.

Better to play it smart than be rash.

"Thanks for the warning," Genkei called back mid-exercise.

"But don't worry—I've got a special storage method that keeps the potency locked in."

"…Hmph. Fair enough."

Kureha glanced at the still-steaming dishes on the table and nodded in understanding.

She hadn't noticed before—but clearly, the food and medicine were being stored in some sort of preserved space.

She had overlooked that.

"Thank you for the reminder."

Chiri added with a smile. "Your kindness is appreciated."

Truthfully, this "witch" was far more agreeable than she'd expected.

And with medical skill like that?

Definitely someone worth befriending.
