Seraphina's POV
It had already been a week since I started staying at Emma's cousin's place. The days felt long here, but they were quiet and safe.
Fae, Emma's cousin would drop by from time to time to check on me and help treat my wounds. She was a doctor, after all, and unlike most, she didn't ask too many questions.
"Thankfully, your burns weren't too deep," she said today as she gently peeled the bandage off my arm. "Otherwise, they might've left a scar."
She smiled lightly, but I could still feel the sting on my skin. I nodded and gave her a soft, honest thank you. "If it weren't for you, I don't know what I would've done."
Fae gave me a strange look… Like she didn't understand why I was thanking her so seriously. I knew it wasn't a big deal to her or she thought that anyone could've helped me. But what she didn't know… was that I knew her from before.
