Melissa didn't bother hiding anything from Sean. There was no point. He was the only one in this world who had seen her true face besides her real family, the biological one.
While they were talking, the crowd clapped as Old Madam Lan held Seraphina's hand. Melissa stood stiffly beside Sean, her smile plastered on while her insides burned.
"Then what are you waiting for?" Sean leaned closer, his voice low so no one else could hear him, as his eyes never left the stage. "You tried before, didn't you? What's stopping you now?"
Melissa's jaw tightened. She almost forgot to breathe for a second after hearing his words. She slowly turned her head and gave him a deadly glare. "Do you want to die?" she hissed, lips barely moving as a smile still glued on her for the crowd to see.
