Chapter 173 - Chapter 176: I can’t get any feedback, my hands are shaking

"Shiho..." Akemi covered her cheeks and softly called her sister's name.

Kazawa covered her hand that was tightly gripping the edge of the table and said in a deep voice, "Don't worry, she'll be fine."

"The organization is searching for her. Those laboratories were destroyed by the organization because of her." Akemi didn't lower her hand. The expression on her face was unclear, and her voice was barely calm. "Shiho knows too many important things. They won't let her go."

"Don't worry, sis." Kazawa felt her hand trembling in his palm, sighed softly, then walked to her side, squatted down, and gently hugged her.

After rescuing Miyano Akemi, Kazawa had planned to be more proactive, to find a way to rescue Miyano Shiho early.

Although becoming Haibara Ai is a great way to escape the organization's attention… the pain of taking drug A is real, and there's no guarantee she can return to normal.

So Kazawa planned to take the initiative to rescue Shiho directly.

As for where to place her afterward… their villa was big enough, and hiding a girl wouldn't be hard.

If you're already hiding one, hiding three isn't much different. Currently, the two people living in the villa—if their identities are exposed—the organization will hunt Kazawa to the ends of the earth.

Too many lice don't itch, too much debt doesn't bother. Kazawa was open-minded about this. After Miyano Akemi came, he had tried many times to find Miyano Shiho.

But Kazawa knew very little about the locations of the organization's scientific research bases, and Kumail wasn't in a position to ask about that kind of information.

In fact, if Gin found out he was investigating the organization's labs, his first reaction might be that Kumail couldn't stand his hatred of human experiments anymore and wanted to destroy all the organization's facilities.

Amuro Toru knew some of the lab conditions, but not in detail.

And Miyano Akemi… gave bad news.

The organization strictly prevented the two sisters from contacting each other, treating them like bait for one another, never allowing them to meet easily. So Akemi didn't have any way to contact Shiho directly.

But she did have some belongings from their parents, including an email address the Miyano couple had used to submit academic papers.

This was not an address used inside the organization, and after joining the Karasuma Group, it hadn't been used again. Akemi shared this email account with Shiho and would occasionally send messages to it. Shiho would find ways to secretly log in about once a month to check Akemi's updates.

On the night Akemi went to the port to meet Gin, thinking she wouldn't return alive, she sent a farewell letter to Shiho before leaving the hotel.

If she died, the letter would serve as her final words. If she didn't die, she would have successfully taken her sister away, and the letter would be meaningless.

Unfortunately, she took a third path—faked her death and escaped, joining her brother's group.

Which made things a bit awkward.

Kumail could contact Sulli directly, but Shiho, after reading her sister's suicide note, never responded again.

The only message she ever sent to Kumail was the very unfriendly: "I know you're not Kazawa. Your plan won't succeed." That was before Kazawa set out to kill Akemi at the port.

In other words, the information Miyano Shiho had was: "Kumail killed Kazawa Akira. The current Kazawa is a fake. And on the day she realized that, Kumail and Gin killed her sister."

...My god, the hatred gauge is maxed out. It's going to be hard to get Shiho to cooperate with any plans.

None of his teammates could help, and even the person they were trying to rescue refused to communicate. Kazawa really couldn't carry the whole team by himself.

After reviewing the situation helplessly in his mind, Kazawa shook his head.

The stalemate had continued until today—until the clash between Shirley and Gin. Shirley was locked in the gas chamber and took drug A… there was no other way.

He tried his best, but his teammates didn't even try to save him. What could he do?

"Azhao..." Miyano Akemi called her brother's name a little weakly and hugged Kazawa back.

Kazawa looked over Miyano Akemi's shoulder and glanced at Hoshikawa Teru, who was standing nearby awkwardly. He patted Akemi's back and gestured for Teru to come over.

Xingchuan Hui hesitated, then shuffled closer.

Without saying a word, Kazawa reached out, pulled him over, and brought him to Akemi's side.

Feeling someone else approaching, Akemi also raised her arm and hugged the unprepared Hoshikawa Teru.

After standing stiffly for a moment, Hoshikawa Teru slowly raised his arms and returned the hug.

Akemi smiled faintly, seeming to find the two boys hugging amusing, and gently rested her head on their shoulders.

Kazawa let her lean on them quietly for a while, letting the warmth linger, then gently broke the silence and said, "Actually... Shiho is fine now. Don't worry, sister."

"You have news?" Knowing her brother's abilities, Akemi looked up at Kazawa excitedly with hope in her eyes.

"Well..." Kazawa drew out his words, thinking about how to explain it.

Since Shirley's escape and disappearance were already confirmed, Shiho must have collapsed somewhere in 2-chome, and then been picked up by Professor Agasa and brought home.

...Damn it. I even bought a house nearby just to anticipate this move. Kazawa silently regretted it.

Especially after learning that Shiho believed he was a fake Kazawa, he secretly fantasized about it—blocking her path, catching the frightened little girl she had turned into, and keeping a sinister aura to scare her for fun.

Watching Haibara Ai getting startled would be kind of amusing.

But now that he thought about it, it made sense why Conan had mentioned this morning that he couldn't get in touch with the professor.

Most likely, Shiho had already woken up, explained her identity to the professor, and asked him not to tell Conan anything for the time being.

"Yeah, I roughly know where Shiho is now." Kazawa shifted his legs and adjusted his position. At 178 cm tall, he was half-squatting there, hugging Akemi who was sitting on a chair—it was a bit uncomfortable. "Don't worry too much, sister. She's fine."

Rather, I'm the one in trouble.

I don't know how much Miyano Shiho knows about Kumail. If she suddenly showed up in front of Conan and said, "Goro Akechi is the codenamed agent Kumail. He killed Kazawa and disguised himself as him. The guy you've been dealing with lately is actually Goro Akechi"...

Then Kazawa would need to put on layer after layer of disguise to cover himself.

After giving himself a moment of silence, Kazawa couldn't help but say a little more:

"Sister Akemi, you've been here for a while… you've probably guessed what's going on with 'Edogawa Conan', haven't you?"
