Chapter 1 - Burning Temptation

Burning Temptation

Chapter 1 – The Elevator Encounter

The muffled sound of ambient music echoed through the marble lobby of the five-star hotel, while Helena watched the reflection of her red heels shimmer under the golden light. She wasn't there for work — for the first time in months, she had decided to do something for herself. A getaway, a weekend alone, far from the suffocating routine, to rediscover her essence… or at least try.

She pressed the elevator button and adjusted the slit in her black dress that clung to her curves with sinful precision. As the doors slid open, she stepped inside without looking — and stopped immediately. Someone else was already there.

Tall. Dark. Suit jacket unbuttoned. White shirt with the top two buttons undone, revealing a teasing glimpse of bronzed skin. His eyes met hers with a mix of surprise and intrigue. Helena hesitated for a moment but stepped in.

"Good evening," he said, his voice deep and confident.

"Evening," she replied, heart racing for no apparent reason.

The elevator began its slow ascent. A loaded silence settled between them, the air suddenly thick. He glanced at her again, a faint smirk curling on his lips.

"First time at the hotel?"

"Mmhmm… you?"

"I come here sometimes. The rooftop has an amazing view. You should see it."

She arched a brow, toying with a loose strand of hair.

"Maybe I will. Though going alone isn't as fun."

He stepped forward, almost imperceptibly, narrowing the space between them.

"Sometimes… the company finds you."

Helena felt the heat crawl up her body, like a spark ready to ignite. The elevator stopped with a soft jolt on the tenth floor. The doors opened — but neither of them moved.

"Are you getting off?" he asked, his tone low and teasing.

She gave him a sideways smile, eyes glinting.

"Depends. Are you showing me the view?"

He extended his hand, inviting.

"Let's set the night on fire."

And she took it.
