This Zapdos truly lived up to its divine status. Its speed was far beyond that of Legendaries like Suicune, who could be captured by human nets...
The vast distance from the Sinnoh region to the Kalos region was covered in just two short hours.
The rainstorm in Kalos was even fiercer than the one in Sinnoh.
By the time Caleb arrived at Geosenge Town, the Kalos League forces were already locked in brutal combat with Team Flare.
Caleb didn't recognize any of the Kalos Trainers, and this wasn't the time for introductions. So, he turned to Xerneas and asked, "Can you sense Yveltal's exact location?"
Xerneas nodded gently, then leapt down and led the way.
"Xerneas is here!" someone shouted in the chaos.
The remaining Team Flare grunts immediately swarmed toward them.
Seeing this, Zapdos let out a sharp cry. Its body erupted with intense electrical energy, mingling with the heavy rain to form a massive electric net that it hurled at the attackers.
Frontliners fell, but more rushed in, taking their place.
Dozens of Pokémon launched simultaneous attacks in this direction. It was clear that Team Flare had committed all their forces here.
Caleb calmly pulled out Dragonite's and Hydreigon's Poké Balls.
Zapdos dove from above. A devastating Thunder strike crashed down from the stormy sky, engulfing the enemy ranks in a storm of lightning.
Without looking back, Zapdos telepathically said: >..Leave this place to me. You two go inside!..<
"Dragonite! Hydreigon! Go assist Zapdos!" Caleb ordered.
"Wuuu!"
"Roooar!"
The two Pokémon responded in unison, then flanked Zapdos as they charged the Team Flare army...
…
"What's going on over there?" asked Wikstrom, one of Kalos's Elite Four, frowning at the light erupting from the other side of town.
"The enemy's attention has been diverted!" said Siebold, the Water-type Elite, observing the battlefield, "It's an ally!"
"Ara ara~ it must be the Trainer Cynthia recommended!" said Drasna, the Dragon-type Elite, smiling as she commanded her Pokémon.
"What Trainer?" Wikstrom didn't quite understand.
Siebold watched the electrical flashes lighting up the sky and said softly, "You know, the one who dismantled Team Rocket in Kanto, crushed Team Galactic in Sinnoh, and just recently thwarted Team Plasma's plot in Unova."
Hearing this, a gleam appeared in Wikstrom's eyes, "So he's finally come to Kalos?"
…
Zapdos, Dragonite, and Hydreigon held off the bulk of Team Flare.
Caleb didn't need to deal with the remaining stragglers; Xerneas effortlessly dispatched them as they went.
The pair moved unimpeded through the corridors, until they reached the final chamber.
Xerneas spoke: >..Yveltal is inside..<
Caleb didn't have a passcode, so he resorted to brute force. He released Mewtwo, whose eyes flashed blue, and the next instant, a hole was torn through the reinforced metal door with a heavy psychic force.
Silence greeted them inside...
Caleb and Xerneas walked in and immediately saw Yveltal restrained on a metal apparatus.
"You've arrived," said a voice came from the right.
Caleb turned and saw a red-haired man seated in a chair, his face obscured by shadow.
Though he'd never met Lysandre in this world, Caleb recognized him instantly.
"Your presence here means Giovanni has failed," Lysandre said.
'So the villains were working together...'
Caleb didn't respond. He gestured with his hand, and Mewtwo instantly vanished from his spot, reappearing beside Yveltal.
With a twist of telekinesis, the metal restraints bent and released Yveltal, who collapsed to the floor.
Lysandre watched this motionlessly. Only after Mewtwo brought Yveltal to Xerneas's side did he shake his head with a chuckle, saying, "Too late. It's useless to me now."
As he spoke, he stood up, pulling a strangely shaped Poké Ball.
With a black flash, a serpentine Pokémon with a green body and five black frill-like appendages behind its head appeared.
It was Zygarde (50% Forme)...
"I will create a better world. Go, Z! Destroy everything!" Lysandre commanded.
Zygarde's eyes glowed red, indicating it was under control. The Order Pokémon let out a deafening, mindless roar.
The sound tore through the roof, echoing across all of Geosenge Town...
...
Outside...
"What was that?!" Wikstrom shouted, looking toward the source.
"No idea! Damn it, more enemies incoming! Gyarados, use Twister!" Siebold ordered while retreating.
Suddenly, a crimson beam shot skyward from the building surrounded by Team Flare. It tore through the sky, ripping apart the dawn.
Plants across the land began growing wildly due to the disruption of order, but their shapes were unnatural, eerie, as if they didn't belong to this world.
Everyone, humans and Pokémon alike, froze and looked up.
A massive explosion rocked the building. In the storm, it collapsed into rubble.
The smoke was washed away by the downpour, revealing the mastermind behind it all.
Lysandre sneered at the ruins, then turned, surveying the Kalos Elite Fours with disdain.
"It ends here. Z, eliminate them!" Lysandre commanded.
Just then, a voice called from behind him: "Hey. That's enough."
Lysandre spun around, shock visible on his face, "You're alive?! How?!"
He had seen them swallowed by Zygarde's attack with his own eyes!
Caleb couldn't be bothered to respond.
Honestly, Lysandre's whole 'I'll destroy the world because of humanity's greed and violence' schtick was textbook villainy. It was right up there with 'It's not me, it's the world' and 'I've isolated myself from everyone'...
"You're not a god," Caleb said flatly, "This world isn't yours to control."
Lysandre narrowed his eyes and retorted, "A world drowning in greed, violence, and conflict... does it even deserve to exist? I'm giving humanity a chance to live beautifully without darkness!"
Caleb had no interest in debating genocidal philosophy, "Then let's settle this with a battle."
