Lirion's chair creaked as he stood. His polished shoes clicked against marble, slow, deliberate, circling her like a cornered prey. When his breath hit the shell of her ear, it was warm, cloying with expensive cologne.

"Punish you?" His laugh curled around her, velvet-wrapped poison. "I'm trying to comprehend how someone with your..." His fingers trailed the back of her chair. "...limited academic standing thinks she can disregard basic rules." The pause stretched, thick with threat. "Do you know how many students would kill for your spot here?"
"Then give it to them." She bared her teeth.
Cold fingers caught her chin, forcing her head back. Lirion loomed over her, his eyes sharp.
