Aria ran until her lungs burned and her paws bled. The forest blurred past her as she pushed deeper into the woods, away from the pack house, away from the chaos she'd left behind.
But she couldn't escape the voices screaming her name.
"ARIA!" Caleb's howl broke the night.
She kept running.
"Please don't go!"
Caden's desperate cry made her fall, but she forced herself forward.
Even Dorian's anguished words couldn't stop her now. "I'm sorry! For everything!"
She reached the cliff viewing Shadow Falls and collapsed, shifting back to human form. Her body shook with exhaustion and tears. Below, the water crashed against the rocks like her world was crashing around her.
"Running away won't save them."
Aria spun around to find Luna Seraphina standing at the tree line, her silver hair glowing in the moonlight.
"You followed me?"
"I knew you'd come here. Your mother used to run to this same spot when the weight of being Luna became too much."
