Chapter 8 - Chapter 008

The settlement information dazzled Wang Ran.

[You have achieved the following accomplishments in this simulation:]

[① Survival Apprentice]

[When the apocalypse came, you managed to hold on for just ten days before kicking the bucket!]

[② Second Bloom]

[In two different simulation experiences, you had unspeakable encounters with the same woman. Is she really that captivating to you?]

[③ Boom]

[You unlocked a brand-new death: Art!]

[Simulation Survival Time: 10 Days]

[Congratulations! You have earned 130 free attribute points.]

[Congratulations! You have earned 13 talent draw chances.]

"Draw a Legendary Talent!" Wang Ran's voice trembled with excitement.

As soon as he spoke, his surroundings began to blur. Everything seemed like a wall eroded by time—yellowed, cracked, and peeling away. These fragments fell off, revealing an endless void.

From within the void, a deep darkness flowed like a river. The riverbed was studded with dazzling stars, each emitting a unique radiance. This light poured over Wang Ran.

In a daze,

piercing shrieks surged like tides,

and Wang Ran stood still, dumbfounded.

A rust-covered bronze arm parted the clouds,

ancient cities clashed against mountains,

and molten lava, like blood, flowed across the land...

In the shadows, an indescribable giant silently stirred.

[Please make your choice.]

Glowing green text appeared before Wang Ran.

A cool sensation brushed over his body, snapping him back to reality. He felt as though he had just experienced something unforgettable, yet he couldn't recall anything—it was like waking from a dream.

He asked, "What just happened?"

[Many talents resonated with you.]

[You fell into a hallucination.]

[This is a good thing, but your mental attributes are too low to bear the effects of multiple resonances. Please increase your mental attributes before trying again.]

Wang Ran asked in confusion, "What is resonance?"

[Every legendary talent carries a heroic story. Resonating with a legendary talent allows you to receive the will and favor of its creator, unlocking its hidden attributes.]

[As the holder of the Savior Simulator, legendary talents favor you. Once you meet the mental attribute requirements, resonance will automatically activate.]

"I see." Wang Ran nodded thoughtfully. "So it was just a hallucination?"

[Talent Space is about to close. Please make your choice promptly.]

Wang Ran turned his attention to the brilliant stars embedded in the darkness. He knew that each star contained a legendary talent, though he couldn't discern their specific abilities. He could feel their calls—some strong, some faint.

His gaze slowly shifted until it landed on a star emitting a crimson glow.

"I want that one!"

The star pulsed with a rhythmic glow, as if alive.

[Congratulations! You have acquired the talent "Ghostly God Descends."]

Boom!

The star flared brilliantly, dispelling the surrounding darkness and shooting straight toward Wang Ran.

Instinctively, he raised his hand to shield himself, but the star had no physical form. It merged directly into his chest, becoming one with his heart. Crimson light seemed ready to burst from his chest.

Countless crimson lines extended from his heart to his limbs, forming a web-like pattern that radiated an eerie glow.

[Ghostly God Descends]

[You are immune to one fatal injury. During this time, your mental attributes will temporarily drop to zero. Summon a mythical ghostly god to manifest a powerful body and annihilate enemies.]

[Resonance: None for now.]

[Cooldown: 30 days.]

The darkness, along with the countless stars, retreated into the void. Gradually, Wang Ran found himself back in reality.

He muttered under his breath, "Ghostly God Descends..."

The name itself exuded invincibility. Though the description lacked specific numbers, a legendary-quality talent was undoubtedly extraordinary.

Just surviving one fatal blow would be worth it.

Recalling how he was blown up by a missile in this simulation, Wang Ran wondered if "Ghostly God Descends" would allow him to withstand a missile attack in the flesh.

It was the kind of scene you'd only see in movies!

The thought excited him momentarily, but he quickly dismissed it.

He had no doubt that "Ghostly God Descends" could protect him from a missile, but there was no point in testing it unnecessarily.

"I need to get Lin Ying out of the university city before the military launches their missiles," Wang Ran reflected on the information he had gained in this simulation.

Once the military launched missiles, the strange flowers would release a powder that turned people into mushrooms. The silence from the northern artillery meant the military had been wiped out.

[Every mushroom blooms into a flower.]

[By the next day, flowers cover the fields.]

The thought of these lines sent chills down Wang Ran's spine.

Lin Ying would undoubtedly die if exposed to the powder, so he had to escape with her before the missiles launched or the apocalypse fully descended.

"Escaping the city would be best," Wang Ran mused with a wry smile.

But escaping the city was easier said than done.

Monsters would likely be everywhere. While Wang Ran might manage alone, taking a pampered young lady like Lin Ying with him was an entirely different matter.

Still, he wouldn't abandon Lin Ying. Without the simulator, he would have spent his last days in the basement with her as doomed lovers.

After all, she was theoretically his future girlfriend.

How could he leave her behind over a bit of danger?

Not to mention, he was a transmigrator with cheats!

"Let's max out my attributes first."

Wang Ran didn't feel discouraged. The human maximum for any attribute was 1,000, and his highest attribute was only 100—far from the cap.

This simulation had earned him 130 free attribute points.

"Strength creates miracles!"

He allocated all his points to strength.

[Strength: 174]

[Constitution: 27]

[Agility: 100]

[Mental: 10]

[Comprehension: 10]

His strength and agility were outstanding, but the other attributes were abysmal. Wang Ran hoped they wouldn't hinder his performance.

Even if they did, he planned to boost them soon enough.

"Time to draw talents!"

This simulation had also granted him 13 talent draws. He had completed a milestone task, opening up two empty talent slots.

Rows of talent options appeared before Wang Ran.

He automatically filtered out gray and white talents, leaving three green and one blue talent.

[Extra-Long Reflex Arc: Blocks physical pain during combat. All pain is experienced afterward. ("A girl once liked me. By the time I realized it, her grandson already had grandkids.")]

"This talent is so practical," Wang Ran thought, immediately liking it.

Although he had the Savior Simulator, he was still an ordinary person who feared pain.

With this talent, he could fight fearlessly.

[Swordsmanship Mastery: Master advanced sword techniques. ("I'm so good at swordsmanship that many people added me on WeChat to discuss it further.")]

Wang Ran thought, "Beyond three steps, a gun is faster. Within three steps, a gun is still faster and more accurate."

A bit of a dud.

The third green talent was [Qi Mastery].

At first glance, it seemed related to martial arts. But upon closer inspection, it was laughable.

[Qi Mastery: You're better at lying, making people more likely to believe you. ("I never blush when I lie. Even lie detectors can't catch me because I can even fool myself.")]

Fooling himself...

Wang Ran found this talent intriguing.

It might pair well with [Cover Ears and Steal a Bell]. If he could trick himself into believing no one could see him, wouldn't [Cover Ears and Steal a Bell] become an active skill?
