Chapter 7 - Confession

Gale's POV

I was happily walking back to the dorm. Finally, we were done with everything we needed to do! I can go back to school tomorrow and see Eviliana and Aviel again.

When I opened the door, I saw Jaxon still awake, sitting on the sofa reading a book. Axel, on the other hand, was nowhere to be seen—he was probably already fast asleep in his room, especially since it was already past midnight.

I entered quietly. I didn't want to wake Axel.

"Jaxon, aren't you going to sleep yet?" I asked while opening the door to my room.

"Your sister…" he looked at me and closed the book in his hands. "She was looking for you," he added.

"Really?" I didn't expect that. I thought she already forgot about me.

"They were planning to visit you earlier, but I told them you were busy." He stood up and walked toward his room—right beside mine. My room was in the middle: Jaxon's on the left, Axel's on the right. "I'm going to bed now," he said as he opened the door and stepped inside.

Did he really wait for me just to say that?

I couldn't help but smile. Jaxon always looked like he didn't care—but deep down, he's really sweet.

I entered my room. I need sleep to get rid of all this exhaustion.

My friends and I entered the campus together, as usual—whenever I wasn't too busy with student council stuff.

"You're in a good mood today, huh, Gale?" Andi said as we walked.

"Of course. I'm finally free!" I replied.

"Pshh. Just admit it—you're excited to see your sister and Aviel," Axel teased.

"I'll never deny that." It's true. I really, really, really want to see them and hug them. We've met already, but I didn't get to properly introduce myself. That's why today is my day!

When we arrived at campus, just like always, there was a wave of shouting and whispering from the students. This is what I hate most—especially when we're all together. They're always so noisy.

Then suddenly, out of nowhere—a deer appeared right in front of us, blushing furiously and staring at me.

What the hell is he doing?

"Miss, please accept my love!" he bowed, holding out a red rose.

Huh?! HUHHHHHHHH?!

The crowd screamed even louder—some students were laughing their heads off.

No way! Is he confessing to me?! Did he mistake me for a girl again? Damn it!

Aviel's POV

We stopped walking when we heard loud cheers and laughter ahead. I pulled Lia with me to peek at what was going on. A confession? And the one confessing—was that Christoper?! The guy who ranked 9th in the entrance exam and is also our classmate?

I looked at who he was confessing to—and was completely shocked to see it was the fox girl Lia had bumped into before!

"I don't know your name yet, but I fell in love with you at first sight. Please accept my love," Christoper said, offering the rose. But the fox didn't move—just stared at him… and then facepalmed.

"Avy, that's Kai and the others, right?" Lia said, pointing to the group on the side. Yeah, that was them. They were all laughing—except Jaxon, who looked completely unfazed.

"Sorry, I can't accept it," the fox replied.

"Pres!" shouted a female deer running toward them, waving like she was all hyped up. "Oh—Christoper?" She froze when she saw his red face. They seemed to know each other—both deer.

"O… Orfa?" Christoper stammered.

"Oh? Why do you look like you've seen a ghost? Long time no see, Chris," Orfa grinned.

"Wait—you two know each other?" the fox asked.

Orfa nodded. "He's my cousin."

"Ah. By the way, why were you looking for me?" the fox asked seriously.

"Oh, the headmaster asked me to tell you he wants to see you in his office later."

"Orfa, you know him?" Christoper asked again.

"Avy… Avy?" Lia called, tugging my sleeve.

"Hm? What's wrong?" I asked, concerned. She looked like she was about to cry.

"That girl… the one I bumped into… and big brother Gale... they're the same person. That's why he looked familiar."

No way.

I looked at the fox again just to make sure—and yep, it was Gale!

Crap!

That insanely beautiful fox is Gale?!

Why didn't I realize it right away?

He's prettier than me!

"Yeah. I'm the student council president. And a guy," I heard Gale say.

The murmurs and laughter started again.

"I don't care about your status or gender! I like you and that's final!" Christoper shouted, face beet red, then bolted away. The students squealed and screamed.

I rushed over to Gale, grabbed his hand, and pulled him away.

"Pres, wait!" shouted the female deer, but I ignored her. I grabbed Lia too.

When we reached the garden, I let go of them and stared at Gale, who was smiling at both of us.

"Long time no see?" Gale said with open arms like he was waiting for a hug. I smacked him on the head.

"Ow! What was that for?" he pouted.

"Why didn't you tell us who you were when we first met?" I asked, annoyed.

"You suddenly ran off, remember?"

"Oh please, don't make excuses!" I was about to hit him again when Lia spoke.

"Big brother Gale, I'm sorry," she said quietly, head bowed. "Sorry I didn't recognize you."

I shot Gale a look and motioned for him to hug her. He followed immediately.

"It's okay. It's not your fault," he said while gently rubbing her back. "Should I cut my hair, hmm?"

Lia pulled back from the hug. "No, big brother! Your hair is really pretty. Don't cut it!"

"I'll do what you say," Gale replied with a smile.

When he smiles like that, his face becomes even more stunning. No wonder Christoper fell for him. His face is seriously a trap.

I could only shake my head.

Then someone suddenly hugged me from behind.

"I missed you," whispered a familiar voice. Goosebumps covered my whole body. My heart was racing. I could feel my face heating up.

This feeling again…

"Do you still remember what I said five years ago?" he asked.

I blushed.

So he still remembers that…
