"Does it bother you?"
Kaden's voice echoed softly across the surreal garden around them.
A question that caught Meris completely off guard. She turned her head toward Kaden, and right there—her heart skipped a beat.
Kaden was looking at her with his blood-red eyes, those same eyes that seemed to want to drown the world in a profanity of blood… but inside them, there was an unmistakable softness.
And Meris caught that softness immediately.

She smiled quietly, "What are you talking about?" she asked.
"Me having two wives," Kaden said directly, not wasting time. He then turned his head and looked ahead of him, as if unable to bear the sight of Meris's conflicted eyes.
