Chapter 7 - Chapter Eight: The Real Plan

The silence in the penthouse after Chris left felt different this time. Not peaceful. Not lonely.Strategic.

Leah stood in the doorway of his study, staring at the drawer he always kept locked. But today, he had rushed. And he had made a mistake.

She walked toward it slowly, her pulse steady. The drawer slid open.

Inside was a leather folder labeled in gold: "Acquisition Proposal – Laurent Industries."Her father's company. Her family's legacy.

Leah opened the folder.

Documents. Signatures.Plans to transfer ownership.

Her name was on them, but not her signature. A forged one. The dates matched the day she had that "migraine" and Chris insisted on handling everything on her behalf.

And at the very bottom, a note in his handwriting:

"Convince Leah by end of quarter. Use emotional leverage. Keep Lisa involved—she softens her."

Her hands trembled. Not with fear. Not with sadness. With rage.

So that was the plan.He never wanted her.He wanted the company. The power. The money.

And Lisa? She wasn't just his lover—she was his partner in crime.

Leah closed the folder, locked the drawer again, and calmly walked to her room. She didn't cry.She didn't scream. She smiled.

And she whispered to herself:

– "You thought I was weak. You thought I'd never find out.You married a doll, Chris. But now? You've woken up the woman behind the smile."

She picked up her phone. Not the new one. The old one.The one with the encrypted apps. The one no one knew about.

She dialed a number.

A deep voice answered.

– "It's been a while, Leah."

– "I need surveillance," she said calmly. "A man named Chris Belmont. And a woman named Lisa Moreau. I want eyes on them 24/7."

– "Understood. How deep?"

– "Deep enough to destroy them."

She ended the call.

And just like that, the game changed.
