The day was bright, birds fluttered around, and two new adventurers were about to enter the world. "We'll miss you, Lawren! Take care of yourself and your wife!" (Lawren Coldtale. Known as Ren to Fayrosa, Holy Knight and very soon-to-be wandering adventurer). "We'll try not to die in the first week… Right, Ren?" (Fayrosa Coldtale. Known as Fay to Lawren, Arch-Mage and soon-to-be wandering adventurer) Fay's mother was the loudest as we walked off, "FAYROSA! LAWREN! PLEASE COME BACK ONE DAY!!!" The echo was heard for well over a minute.
"When do you think we'll return?" "If things go well, hopefully, we might return in three or so years… But we shouldn't be thinking about that yet, we have our journey to think of first!" "Yeah… Like how I didn't pack a map… Or how you didn't pack enough food, Ren…" "Hehe… Is it too late to go back?" "What do you think? Hell no, we've been walking for like 3 hours!" "That's true, I guess… Ok, that aside, we have limited sunlight and we're not supposed to reach another town for at least another day! But… amazingly, I packed us a tent!" "So another four hours on the road before we settle!" "That sounds about right… We're already doomed, aren't we?" "Yes, Ren dear, we're doomed from day one… But, I wouldn't let that put us down. As long as we're both here on our feet, it doesn't matter where I end up!" "I'm glad you're still in great spirits."
The moon shone brighter than usual, *Clank* "Ah man, holy swords are tough!" the sword lay next to the sleeping bag, "Heya, I set up the trap detection around the site" Her eyes moved to the sword lying next to the bag, "Do you really need to sleep with that next to you?" "Yes, yes I do, it would suck to have it stolen outside of the tent or I didn't have it in case of an emergency! Uh, new thought, is this thing big enough for both of us?" "Yes, it should be. But even if it wasn't, that shouldn't be a problem!" "Won't it get too warm though?" "I can just cool everything with magic… I forgot you're a walking utility." "I'm going to burn our sleeping bag while we sleep!" "Sorry! It was a joke!" "You know you have fire resistance as one of your perks of being a Holy Knight…" "But you don't" "eh-!... I have been defeated…" "Hahaha, don't worry about it, I can extend my protection to others!" "Ok, ok, let's just go to sleep." "Great suggestion!" I've never felt the touch of somebody so close before, I could get used to this. "Ren? Would you like to give me a goodnight kiss?" "...If you insist."
*Chirp chirp* "Ahh, the morning breeze is amazing!" "Fay… You should get changed into proper adventurer's gear, sleepwear won't cut it…" "Ga-!!... Thanks for telling me~" "Watch out, I might not tell you next time…" She looks so cute in it. "Fey, the sun's up now, so we'd be best on the way soon, we should reach a town or village in fewer than five hours. There we can find a place to sleep and a better means of transport!" "I would do anything for a means of transport other than walking!" "I can carry you, I'm strong enough to carry at most two hundred pounds evenly spread on my back, several miles!" "Really? That'd be awesome! And for the record, I'm only one hundred and fifty-nine pounds…" "Then it's settled, hop on!" *Hoof* "Heh, with all the gear and bags, you're much heavier…" "I never said everything combined wasn't over two hundred pounds!" "Just stay comfortable, we'll find a town before you know it!"
*Pant* "I… made it!" The town in front of me, Ascia, was a medium-sized one… And Fay was fast asleep, glad she was comfortable, but that's impressive! Ah, here we are, a large inn stood in front of me. *dingding* "Oh! Hey, how may I help you, sir?" "I'm looking for a room to stay in for a bit, I'll pay for a week's stay just in case." "Of course, right this way!" This place is pretty nice for a town… "Here we are, a single room. Have fun," she handed me the key and walked away with a happy smile on her face… "Now, what do I do about her…" It still wasn't late, we hadn't even had lunch yet… food, I forgot about that… *shuffle* Fay, somehow still sleeping, was now lying on the bed, "Huh, who knew she could sleep so hard."
"Oh, hey again, is your wife still sleeping? Wait, is she even your wife? Did I pair two non-married people in one bed? (Did I mess up?)" "Haha, no need to worry, yes, she is my wife! And yes, she is still sleeping. I'm actually here to eat… I'm starving (I haven't eaten in a whole day)." "Did you guys travel from afar?" "Yup, on foot… We're from the city, Yondria!" "YONDRIA!? You're telling me you guys walked all the way here? No map or enough food? And you carried your wife (Including all your stuff) the way here?" "Well… yeah, I just so happen to be a Holy Knight, so physical strength is something I specialize in, not to mention buffs I can give myself!" "Wow, a special knight class. You should head over to the adventurer hall after you guys have settled in, they'll have quests suited for people like you!" "An Adventurer hall?" "Yeah, they're places where adventurers gather throughout the day to finish quests and stuff for money!" "That sounds cool in all, but we're not planning on becoming adventurers here." "No worries, they accept non-adventurer class people for their quests, especially if you've got an impressive status such as yourself!" It's intriguing, but neither of us plans on becoming an adventurer. I'll have to see what Fay thinks about this quest stuff… wait, I haven't even ordered anything yet, "Hey, uh, innkeeper girl? I forgot to order…"
Uuuh… Where am I?... Wait, where's Ren?.. *shuffle* We must have arrived at the town!... But before anything… I need to find Ren... "Oh, hey… uh, Fayrosa? If you're looking for your husband, he left like 5 minutes ago to find a map and stuff!" How am I supposed to catch up to him now? "Uaagh! I swear if this turns out to be a wild goose chase!" *rumble* "Oh… I think I might need to eat something…" "No worries, your husband paid for your food before he left!" "Eh, uhm, I guess I'll take the offer then…" I just hope he gets back soon… But… This food is great!
*stomp* "I… Have a map!" Oh, seems like the common area is empty right now… Oh well, "BAH!!" "GAH!- *tumble* What the hell?" "Hehahaha, Ren… You looked so stupid!" "What? Why? Where? Where did you come from!?" "Beside you, where else…? I couldn't miss a prime opportunity to give you the scare of your life!" "Yeah? In the middle of an inn common area? And… When do you plan on getting off of me?" "Oh… Right." "Do you know where the innkeeper girl and the other people went?" "The people all just got up and left, and the innkeeper is setting up rooms!" "I see… So, I wanted to see if you'd like to check out the Adventurers hall with me, we might be able to pick up a quest or two while we're at it!" "ooo, sounds fun. I'm in!"
This place… It's pretty cool from the outside, the building has such a nice wood and stone combination… the building is split up into three parts, but I can't see what for from here… "Ren, I should hold your hand, this place is bound to be filled with mean scary men!" What? "Sure, whatever suits you!" *bustle* "There is quite the crown here." "Can you see where we're supposed to go?" "I'm only like 2 inches taller than you…" "Hey, uh… You know where I can find the front desk?" "Uh, yeah. Over there by those two dudes in the silver metal gear!" "Thanks, man!" "Happy to help!" "Hello there, are you the front desk lady?" "Yes, how may I assist you?" "I'm here to find some work. *clank* Here's my Holy Knight Sigel and my wife here is an Arch-Mage!" "With such status, you're permitted to access anything ranging from three to five skulls. The board is over there on the big wall." "Thanks, mam! Fay, you might want to tighten your grip, the crowd is going to be rough!" "Oof, there are so many people… Oh wow, there are a ton of one to two-skull tasks… It looks like we're going to have to look harder to find something we can do…" "Hey, I think I know what is drawing the crowd… Look over there in the corner, an eight-skull mission!" "Eight? Three whole skulls higher than we're allowed to do? D-dragon?? Who the hell can take down a dragon?"
Hey! Look! It's them!" "What now?..." Five adventurers stood in front of the hall, each of them appearing to be of high importance, with expensive gear and fans… And… A- Holy hell?" "Ren… Are you seeing this?... They… Have the head of a dragon!"
