Paying Tribute to the Dead
***Arin's POV***
Silver-eyed Kael tightened his grip on my wrist. I let out a painful cry. Wherever he touched me, my skin began to turn the same shade of silver as his eyes, and his grip felt like ice.
"Let me go!" Despite my attempts to pull away, he was stronger than ever when he was alive.
"I can't," his voice sounded like it was coming from underwater. "Arin, we're connected now. Forever."
"You're dead!" I let out a scream. "I saw you die!"
He grinned, but it wasn't the kind of smile Kael gave. It was weird and cold. "Death is merely another type of transformation. And you granted me the ability to return."
"I don't understand."
"Some of your Luna magic mixed with mine when you broke the triplet bond," he clarified. "It produced something new. Something that is incapable of remaining dead."
Now the silver was creeping up my arm. It burned in my veins like ice water.
"Stop! You're hurting me."
