Chapter 119 - CHAPTER 119

c119: So Explosive? Transition

Lying on the bed, chatting with Leng Yue over the Pokégear about the unexpected troubles that came with her recent fame and letting He Xiaowen know she had returned to Shencheng, Chen Xiaoxiao slowly dozed off on her soft and familiar Altaria-print bedsheets.

This afternoon nap felt especially cozy. Being home, wrapped in the familiar scent of her pillow and the calm sounds of her Pokémon playing in the distance, Chen Xiaoxiao felt deeply at peace.

At two in the afternoon, a ringing call from her Rotom Phone gently woke her from slumber.

Groggily unlocking it, she saw the caller ID—He Xiaowen.

"What's wrong, Xiaowen?" Chen Xiaoxiao asked sleepily.

"Hee hee, still napping? I'm already outside your house. Come open the door!"

Chen Xiaoxiao squinted in confusion. He Xiaowen was nothing if not direct.

"Mm... I got it. Wait there," she muttered before ending the call.

Open the door herself? That's a negative.

After returning home at noon, Chen Xiaoxiao had released all of her Pokémon into the Beach Garden behind the house an open area built years ago by her grandma and her late Granbull, specifically to give young Pokémon space to grow.

Closing her eyes again, she locked onto Gardevoir's aura, noticing it cheerfully playing a reflex-training game with Latias and Meowstic near the berry grove.

"Gardevoir, Xiaowen's outside. Could you bring her in?"

Chen Xiaoxiao used telepathy something she had refined during her Sinnoh League internship under Elite Four Lucian.

"Understood, Xiaoxiao."

Gardevoir's mind replied softly. With a shimmer of Teleport, it vanished.

Moments later, Gardevoir appeared at the doorstep in a brief shimmer of light particles.

"Gardevoir! Long time no see!"

He Xiaowen, Chen Xiaoxiao's high school roommate and a fellow graduate of the Shencheng Pokémon Academy, smiled brightly at the sight of the Psychic-type.

"Xiaowen, long time no see. I'll take you to her."

Gardevoir gave a warm nod and then teleported both of them directly to Xiaoxiao's room upstairs.

"Thanks, Gardevoir!"

He Xiaowen bowed slightly in appreciation. Gardevoir gave a small curtsy and quietly left the room.

"Still asleep, Xiaoxiao? Really?" she teased, staring at the drowsy figure wrapped in a Mareep-print comforter.

Chen Xiaoxiao groaned and buried her face deeper into her pillow. "Haven't slept this well in ages. You wanna join me?"

He Xiaowen sighed. Same old Xiaoxiao.

But she had other ideas.

With a mischievous grin, she reached into her shoulder bag and pulled out a customized Dive Ball.

"Milotic, wake Xiaoxiao up for me, gently."

The Dive Ball pulsed and opened with a bright shimmer. A majestic Milotic emerged, scales shimmering in the mid-afternoon sun filtering through the window.

It glanced around and spotted Chen Xiaoxiao on the bed.

Despite having evolved since their last encounter, Milotic who was once an awkward Feebas remembered the Trainer who had once helped it with confidence training and beauty enhancement using custom Pokéblocks.

Overwhelmed with excitement, Milotic slithered to the bedside and lovingly licked Chen Xiaoxiao's cheek.

"Wha huh? What the…?"

Chen Xiaoxiao jolted upright. Something felt very non-human.

She squinted.

"Milotic?! Wait you sneaky eel!"

She glared playfully at He Xiaowen, who was now giggling uncontrollably in the corner.

"You've changed, Xiaowen! I remember when you wouldn't even prank a Sentret!"

Milotic snuggled closer, tail swishing gently as it rubbed its smooth scales against her.

"Hee hee! Milotic missed you. Come on, you're up now. Let's go!"

Chen Xiaoxiao chuckled and gave Milotic a pat. "Alright, alright, let me up."

Milotic obediently slithered back toward Xiaowen as Xiaoxiao stretched, rubbed the sleep from her eyes, and swapped her pajamas for her standard lightweight cotton training wear featuring a Kalos-designed Poké Ball pattern.

He Xiaowen flushed slightly. Xiaoxiao always had a natural charm especially when she wasn't trying.

After freshening up, they both headed to the Beach Garden out back.

The scene was lively. Solgaleo was basking in the sun alongside Sunflora and Togekiss, while Metagross and Latias were engaged in a friendly game of aerial tag, monitored by a floating Meowstic. Ampharos lazily sipped on a bottle of Sitrus Berry juice.

He Xiaowen's eyes sparkled.

"Xiaoxiao! You've added so many new ones! Is that really Solgaleo?!"

Milotic looked at the other Pokémon. It had been gone since Feebas days, and most of the team barely recognized it now.

The silence was awkward until Chen Xiaoxiao chuckled and clapped her hands.

"Everyone! Remember Feebas? This is her! After a long journey and some intense Beauty Contests, she evolved into Milotic!"

Gardevoir, who had sensed their return, teleported in with impeccable timing—dozens of floating trays surrounding her, each carefully holding bowls of sliced Sitrus and Lum berries, Lava Cookies, and dozens of cupcakes shaped like Poké Balls.

"Wow! Gardevoir, you're amazing!" He Xiaowen gasped, drooling slightly.

The elegant Pokémon gave a silent nod and teleported out again, only to reappear with another wave of snacks and chilled Roseli tea.

"You lucky girl!" He Xiaowen exclaimed, practically glowing.

Chen Xiaoxiao grinned. "I taught her Berry pairing myself. She even attended Professor Magnolia's Support Pokémon Course with me last winter."

With the table now full, He Xiaowen could no longer hold back.

"Alright, time to let mine out too!"

She tossed four Poké Balls into the air.

"Come out, Primarina, Starmie, Kingdra, Piplup!"

A beautiful Primarina sang as it appeared, while Kingdra spiraled through the air before landing elegantly. Starmie glowed with its red core spinning rapidly.

Piplup, however, looked slightly confused—but quickly waddled over to cling to Xiaowen's boot.

Chen Xiaoxiao was surprised. "Wait, Piplup? Since when?"

He Xiaowen cradled the tiny Water-type.

"Birthday gift from my cousin in Unova. The egg hatched just last week!"

Chen Xiaoxiao gave an understanding nod. "Lucky! Piplup evolves into Empoleon. You'll have a powerhouse if raised right."

The warm ocean breeze swept across the field as everyone settled at the table.

Chen Xiaoxiao called out to her team, "Everyone! Come eat!"

Gardevoir and Latias hovered near the table, while Solgaleo and Metagross politely took a spot in the shade. Lapras slid by the edge of the garden pool, greeting Milotic with a melodic hum.

The scene was vibrant and joyful.

The sunlight sparkled on the ocean waves beyond the fence. Afternoon desserts, laughing trainers, playful Pokémon everything came together in a peaceful harmony.

This was more than just a break. It was a moment that reminded Chen Xiaoxiao of why she chose the path of a trainer.

And in this familiar place, with the breeze on her face and her friends at her side, she knew:

This was home.
