Chapter 3 - 2

"Ah... uh..." I didn't continue what I was about to say because I might end up saying something weird again.

I have to be on my best behavior this time. They might start wondering about my actions. I still don't know why I became Zion Cartridge's wife—the villain.

He coldly snorted, "Speak."

I just shook my head, cleared my throat, and sat far away from him. Even though I avoided looking at him, I could still feel his gaze on me.

Nervously, I looked at the food in front of me. Even though it's just the two of us eating here, there's a ridiculous amount of food. It looked like there was a feast laid out on the long table.

"Is the food not to your liking, Madam?" Zion's butler suddenly asked, which startled me.

I raised my head to look at the butler, who was now standing behind Zion, watching me with concern, while Zion continued to stare at me expressionlessly.

I shook my head as a response to the butler. I didn't even know his name.

"Is that so? Then you have to eat, Madam," he said with worry in his voice.

I nodded and forced a smile at him, then returned my focus to the food and started eating. Even though the food was delicious, I'm allergic to chicken, so no matter how much I wanted to try it, I couldn't.

"Madam, don't you want to eat the chicken drumstick in front of you?"

I exhaled quietly and gave a fake smile as I raised my head and looked at the butler.

Good thing the villain was minding his own business.

"Ah, I'm allergic to chicken," I simply said.

His eyes widened in shock while Zion suddenly lifted his head and stared at me. I started to feel nervous. It's not like I could lie and say it wasn't good—that might provoke them. Besides, I was just telling the truth. I really am allergic to chicken. Especially to seafood.

I mumbled, "What?"

"Madam! You should have told me earlier so we wouldn't serve food you're allergic to," the butler exclaimed as he ordered the maid beside us to remove the chicken drumsticks in front of me.

I got curious about where they would take them, so I couldn't help but ask,

"Where are you taking those?"

The maids carrying the bowl of chicken drumsticks turned to look at the butler and Zion, so I turned my gaze to the two as well.

"Are you going to throw those away?" I asked curiously.

The butler was about to speak when Zion suddenly opened his mouth and answered.

"Yes. Those foods are a waste if you can't eat them due to your allergies," he said coldly.

I changed my mind about him. Even if he's handsome, I can't stand that he ordered the maids to throw the food away.

"If you're going to throw it away because of me, why not just give it to the helpers instead?" I couldn't help but ask.

I heard small gasps around us, and I could see the shock on the butler's face, while Zion just furrowed his brows at me.

"Ah… Madam…" the butler said, but I didn't know his name, so I just raised my eyebrow at them.

I slammed my spoon and fork down on the plate and stared at them.

"Don't you know that wasting food is a bad example?" I scolded them.

"And so?" Zion suddenly said.

I widened my eyes, dumbfounded.

"And so—? What!?" I could feel my blood boiling because of this man.

Why does Sanny like him so much? He's so rude! He really deserves the title of villain in the story My Lily. So heartless and ruthless. Psh!

"I don't care what you mean." He concluded, "In case you forgot something, Miss, we're only married by name."

He stood up, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and was about to leave the dining area when I called his name.

"Just so you know, Mr. Cartridge," I stood and looked at him, "Even though we're just married by name, I am still your legally wedded wife. So I have the right to say something."

He didn't react at all and continued facing away from me. So I looked around for something light enough to throw at him because I was already really annoyed.

The only light thing I could find was the bunny fur slippers I was wearing, so with a heavy heart, I picked one up and threw it at his back.

It landed perfectly behind his head. I couldn't help but smile at what I did.

I could hear people around us gasping in shock while the butler was speechless. Zion stopped in his tracks and turned his head to look at me.

I felt my hair stand on end from the glare he gave me. It felt like he could make me disappear any second.

"Madam!" the butler called, clearly worried, as he turned his head and looked at Zion in front of him.

"Zion Cartridge, I hate you!" I snapped and quickly ran off to my room upstairs.

I slammed the door shut and locked it carefully. I pressed my ear to the door to listen for sounds outside. When I didn't hear anything, I breathed a sigh of relief and looked around the room. Just a moment ago, I was full of fighting spirit, but now I felt a sudden heaviness.

I don't know why I'm in this world. I don't even know the life of this person whose body I entered, even though we have the same face—except for the color, those baby fat cheeks, and how slender her body is compared to my original one.

"I'm supposed to be dead," I lamented. "How is this possible?"

I could feel my tears forming as I remembered my parents. Even though Mom and Dad were busy with work, they still made time for me. They gave me everything, even things I never asked for. I miss them so much. I wonder how they reacted when I suddenly died.

I didn't even get a chance to repay them for everything they did. Just thinking about how sad they must be makes me cry silently.

I miss you, Mom and Dad. What am I supposed to do in this world without you?
