Chapter 70 - I meant the garden

"May I?" Lloyd asked after a moment, his tone polite as he requested to sit next to her.

At first, Lilah hesitated but then nodded faintly as she felt there was no harm.

"I don't mind."

He sat beside her but not too close to create a misunderstanding if seen, and not too far to make it feel like he was being too wary.

For a while, neither of them spoke. The hush of the night wrapped around them was wrapped in the faint echoes from the palace halls, and wrapped in the soft panting of the hounds in the distance, and the faint rustle of the garden leaves.

It was awkward, yet not uncomfortable. Strangely enough, Lilah felt at peace.

It was odd since this kind of peace... She had only ever known and felt it with Kael. Being in his arms, listening as he spoke words of comfort and little things that expressed his feelings so much louder than he displayed... She was feeling that kind of peace and comfort right now which made her quite uneasy.

Who was this man, truly?
