I have never thought of myself as poetic
You see, I felt I lacked the artistic sense for it
Writing was never my forté
And reading was my nemesis
Grammar felt like an alien
And punctuation seemed more endangered than a Black Rhinoceros
Plotlines never really finished
Endings always left unwritten
Words just jumbled together
That sounded way to choppy to actual connect
And if spoken, sounded more like gibberish than English
But it's not about being poetic
It's about being me
And putting me into words
And that's something I can do
Or at least try
Words,
no matter how people try and block you out, trying to silence you,
to let your meaning fade away in the darkness to be forgotten by the world
Do not give up
Do not stay silent
Do not let them push your waves back
But fight back, facing forward
To love one, one must first love themselves
Because how can you give your heart to someone
If you don't even take care of it
A love note to myself
For when things seem wrong
Mouth, please tell brain she isn't dumb
She just thinks differently
Brain, tell eyes that their working fine
Because seeing Beauty in the smallest things is an amazing trait
And even if others can't seem to agree with what you think is beauty
It will be alright because I understand
Eyes, tell skin they are not useless for feeling pain
But amazing to be the first line of defense
And a great teacher to feet to help them learn to stop being so clumsy
Skin, tell feet that they are not just clumsy
But strong, to be holding all my weight
Feet, tell weight not to be insecure
Because a scale is not a measure of worth
Weight, tell height that they shouldn't slouch
Because when you stand tall it is easier to stand your ground
Height, tell legs that they are not just slow
But reliable to carry me throughout the day
Legs, tell arms they are not weak
But strong enough to give good hugs
Arms, tell muscles that I am sorry for not working them out enough
But thank you for that burning sensation I get when they do work
It's a great reminder that I'm living
Muscles, tell blood that they are not scary
But very essential part if my body wants to live
Blood, tell heart that they are not weak or faint
But hardworking, not stopping 24/7 for a break
Heart, tell lungs that having my breath taken away is an important moment in life
And should be retold as to never forget
Lungs, tell mouth that even when others say your words are to loud
It's fine to still shout
To let the world know what you have to say
Let the words bounce of the walls and echo in the ears of other
Let them ring in the their minds like a catchy tune so they won't forget
Because words have impact
They say I am still here
Words, tell each part of my body that they are loved by me
I'm breathing
Heart beating
Eyes blinking
Soul and body binding alive
I'm falling
Feet faltering
Legs failing
A physical floundering mess
The sky is starting to look Gray
the clouds in the sky say hi
Hi to the rivers that flow below
The sky starts to change
The clouds in the sky say bye
Bye to the days in May
The clouds seem to start fading away
Calls twice a day let me know you're safe
They let me know you care no matter how far away you are
They let me know you love me whenever you're not home to say it face to face
However I am a brat so didn't learn to appreciate
Something as simple as two calls a day
Future seems to be an old blind man
That speaks in riddles and mysteries
Trying not to give away too much
In hopes we might learn through experience
My we gain wisdom just as he did
Through hardships and trials
Through winning and losing
With tumbles and falls
May we push through
And get stronger past each obstacle
May we reach the old blind man's side
With our head held high
Let us reach the future
Lost in an abyss of Dreams
Reality seems faded
Pretty little lies float in the sky
And the Ugly Truth gets covered
Hidden away from prying eyes
When the ugly truth is revealed
Pain decides to hit Swift and quick
Awaken you from the pretty little lies that your dreams try to feed you
