The hokage comes often to the orphanage, specially to meet Naruto. He is very up to date on any going ons in the orphanage.
Ever since Eveie became a medic nin, she started helping orphan students with their homework.
She had become somewhat of a favourite for hokage. He knew how hard she worked and that she donated everything she earned to the orphanage.
He knew that she was a civilian that had taken path of chakra later in adulthood, becoming medic nin after becoming a civilian nurse.
He was even present at her wedding, surprising everyone that the hokage would attend a wedding between a chunin and a gennin. But Eveie had become a celebrity at this point, similar to mother Teresa.
On one of hokage sama's visit to the orphanage, when he greeted Eveie, she was teaching children the transformation jutsu. He always loved to listen in on her tuition, since she was one of the rare cases that only started focusing on chakra well into their adulthood.
She has had help from her husband in becoming medic nin, but it can still be considered mostly self taught. She has found creative ways to train basic jutsu.
Eve lectures as she manifests a blue lipstick as she performs transformation jutsu " You see, disguise doesn't need to be a complete change of face and clothing. Sometimes, a simple spectacles or subtle moustache are enough. The smaller your transformation, the less chakra intensive it is, allowing you to train this justu much more frequently. "
Eveie transforms into a ape the same size as her and says " Drastic and grand transformations have their special place ofcourse. But they require more than just this jutsu".
She gets into an ape like stance and starts moving and jumping around like an ape. "You need to know about what you are transforming into to mimic them. Bigger the transformation, more commitment to the character it requires."
Eva decided to give some classwork " alright everyone, let's master one small transformation. Let's try and put some sunglasses on yourself through transformation jutsu."
The hokage was listening to her with rapt attention. After she gave everyone something to practice, she approached the hokage to greet him.
" Another excellent lesson Eve, focusing on smaller transformation as starting point seems so obvious in hindsight. " Says the Hokage.
" Thankyou Hokage sama. As a grown adult with limited chakra capacity, I had to find ways to keep practicing without draining myself completely. Not only do I have little chakra, I could not afford to run on chakra defecit since I was working at both hospital and the orphanage at the time. "
Eveie does some hand signs and her lipstick color changes again, but this time ,it keeps changing color, changing into all 7 colors of rainbow. She says
" This is nearly the limit for now of what i can do. A transformation that keeps changing. Like comparing a still image to a movie. This particular changing lipstick can be very useful against hospital patients, as I try to distract them while injecting needles. "
Hokage sama smiles and says " brilliant ! ".
After talking for a while, Eveie opens up about a topic she and I had discussed. " Hokage sama, I have another variant of a popular jutsu that i wanted to discuss with you. I wanted your opinion on it."
Hokage looks delighted and says go ahead. Eveie smiles brightly and calls on me to bring her a fish from kitchen. I leave the lesson with my peers to run and get her the fish.
Eve then fillets the fish and cuts it into smaller bites. She then uses a variant of mystic palm jutsu on the fish meat, they visibly change texture and colour .
Eve explains to the Hokage " When i was just learning mystic palm jutsu, mistakes in chakra controll used to cause cellular burns. I thought maybe we could use these for cooking . It might seem a very fancy way to achieve something so simple, but did you notice the smell when I cooked the fish ."
Hokage sama smiles and says " That's true. My sense of smell is among the best, even comparable to an Inuzuka. I didn't notice any extra smell from your cooking. Hum. You think this can be useful in field for that reason."
Eve becomes shy as she says " I'm not a field ninja, so I can't be sure for this application, but I have thought of another application too. "
Eve makes a small cut on her palm . She uses the same handseals as mystic palm and shows her head hand , but there is a big ugly scar.
" While mystic palm jutsu is awesome, even it's unstable version can be used to stop bleeding, but this unstable version is more similar to Cauterisation (burning the wound). It leaves a bigger scar than even natural healing would."
Eve uses mystic palm again and heals the scar away " But the nature of this scar is such, that it's easier to heal with mystic palm jutsu than a natural scar. Basically, this is same as mystic palm jutsu, but instead of focusing on flow control, we overflow the chakra to melt the flesh. This molten flesh can act as a bandage to close wounds. "
Hokage looks at her palm , contemplating what he had just seen. " You are saying that you have created a much easier to learn and use variant of mystic palm jutsu" .
Eve replies " Yes, but it is significantly inferior to mystic palm jutsu, which can achieve various medical marvels. This easier variant one can only Cauterised wound. "
"The biggest benefit of learning this jutsu is that this is easier to learn variant of one of the most versatile utility justus ever. Treating this variant like a step towards learning the real deal is more appropriate than treating this as a finished jutsu. "
" Hokage sama, this variant is easy enough that I want to teach it to academy students. I've read some of tsunade-sama's proposals about one medic in each squad. The mystic palm jutsu is the backbone of a medic ninja. If we are able to put students on a path to mastering it, that can only bring benefits. "
"Even the variant we are teaching is useful and can save lives. Traditional bandages can't be used mid battle, but this can be used to instantly Cauterise any wound in a second. Furthermore, it makes it so that a ninja can cook it's hunts without fire or generating any smell. But the drawback there is that it drains chakra while traditional cooking doesn't."
Hokage sama looks to be contemplating and then says " I like your ideas Eveie, I'll need to think more in this before I make any commitments. Submit a plan to me and I'll contemplate it."
" I think your variation is a genuine application. I've seen too many ninja waste their time on learning incompatible jutsu. But this could be game changer. Maybe I should contact tsunade and get her opinion" says the hokage.
" Thank you hokage sama, I've been trying to teach it to some of our talents at the orphanage, Yami is the only one who has learnt it to sufficient level, but others are tugging along. Most can cook some meat, but I wouldn't trust them to Cauterise a wound." Says Eveie.
" You've taught them mystic palm? Academy students? They can cook food with it?" Hokage asks.
" Orphans, not just any academy students. Many clan heirs get greater benefits, these guys get greater responsibility. They have to cook their own meals. Not just to save money, but we want to build independent adults."
" When I got married, my husband suggested we adopt one of the kids from here. But I love them all, they are all my kids. We can teach our kids some techniques right. I'm a medical gennin, my husband is a medical chunnin. I did what i thought was right" Eveie sighs in shame for not asking permission. She knows she has skirted the law.
The fact that all the orphans are on a much greater ninja path because of her tuition is also to be considered. Hokage asks " Don't they get tired, consuming chakra to cook food. "
" It is a strain, but it encourages efficiency. They have unlimited access to food. We don't just call them our children for nothing, you know. Me and my husband contribute most of our salaries to raise our children." Says Eveie.
"If hokage sama feels that I have given my children unfair advantage, I'm willing to teach any academy student who is willing to learn. We just need one training ground with a safe lake. I can even teach them survival training, I was basically raised on the roads, with no chakra."
" Somehow I feel that my Cauterise technique should not be called a medical technique, but instead a survival (man vs wild) technique. Bleeding to death is a real and ever persent threat to a shinobi." Eveie produced a scroll.
Hokage opened the scroll and read the headers for it's training meathod.
- Survival style : balmburn jutsu.
- level 1- slow cooking wet fish and meat. (Like souse vide)
-level 1.5 - slow sanitary and antiseptic application (heat to kill germs).
-level 2 - Searing the skin of the food.
-level 2.5 - Cauterise wound.
Level 3 - instant raw marination
-level 3.5- Medical Style: Mystic palm jutsu .
Each header had a detail description about the level, its training and it's application. The scroll was pretty thin though all things considered. The header carries most of the weight for its application and level. The paragraphs just have a few line of training and hand signs.
Hokage takes the scroll and apriciates her efforts. He tells her that he will let her know his response in due time, for now he just wanted to see children play around. Naruto came and started chatting with the hokage while Eveie went to chat with bella.
A week later lady tsunade came to our orphanage. Eveie invited me for a demonstration.
I greet Tsunade and hokage and start preparing some food for them.
" I love cooking, so when sister Eveie taught us this jutsu, i got to experimenting with it. "
I bring out a steak and cook it from the inside. It doesn't emmit any extra smell .
I cut it open to show " medium rare. "The aroma fills the room from me cutting it open.
I then sear the 2 pieces with my palms, and say " This is level 2 of the technique. With great precision it can be used to cauterise wounds , or even brand cattle."
I serve it with some pre-prepared kimchi, some salt and pepper on the side.
I then move on to my next dish. I bring out 2 chiken eggs and hold one in each of my hands as I describe what I'm doing.
" I'm cocking the egg, but moving that same cooking energy in clockwise rotation around the center of the egg. While the rotation doesn't have any impact on nutrition, it does have an impact on presentation. I present to you, boiled egg"
I crack open the eggs on sides of a bowl each and let the insides flow inside. They look like spiralling noodles. I put chopsticks in them and offer them to both the guest.
Eveie chuckles and says " When I try to do it this way, they come out as scrambled eggs. He is truly gifted with chakra shape manipulation."
Both Tsunade and the Hokage are stunned. The food tastes perfect, I haven't even put any seasoning in either of my dishes. I just gave kimchi, salt and pepper on the side for each.
I bring out two more bowls, this time filled with milk. I put one date in each. I use the balmburn jutsu and use chakra shape transformation to rotate the milk around the center of the bowl, just like I did with the eggs, but instead of heating it, I cool it by letting it's water content evoporate very quickly.
I serve the churned ice cream to both of them with a spoon and some cut fruits.
I say " I can only cool it because I have learnt this jutsu at level 3, raw instant marination. This allows me to churn the milk and date without heating it."
" The cooling comes from the churning process, where it forces evaporation, condensing the milk and cooling it. There is no added sugar. Any sweetness is from the milk itself or the date. "
I bring out some vegetables and say " The kimchi you are eating with the meal is also enhanced by this jutsu ". I start cutting the vegetables into thin slices, impressing the guest with my knife skills.
I pour everything in a jar and fill it with spices . I mix it and shake it and then put it on the table. I do some hand signs and put my hand on the jar.
I say " This is level 3.5 , Mystic palm justu. I'm using the soothing medical energies to sprout the sliced vegetables. What would take a couple of days naturally can be achieved in seconds with this jutsu."
Both hokage and Tsunade are schocked. Not only at the day that I'm using the mystic palm jutsu at age of 9, but also that i would use it for such a frivolous thing like cooking.
I explain further " it's not just about one meal, it's about nutrition. That medicated kimchi's nutrients will more easily be absorbed by your system. It's like getting more nutrients in every meal."
They understand. The taste is undeniable as well. They are both specially impressed by the egg noodle creation and ice cream creation from rotation.
Tsunade suddenly says " You can jump start the fermentation. What else can this be used for . Can you use it make make alcohol faster?. " She asks.
I look at Eveie , who replies " yes, I've tried it. I can make a beer in an hour instead of weeks. I can make wine in a day, "
After my presentation, I'm excused while adults continue their conversation. Next day, hokage sama came to the academy with Eveie and makes an announcement during the morning meeting.
He encourages everyone to attend Eveie's extra classes if they can spare the time. She will be on newly established training ground zero from 2 pm to 8pm.
Any student can use the training ground, even if they want to bypass The extra lectures from Eveie.
The first day, on training ground zero, she asked everyone to catch their own fish. This will train their agility and hand eye coordination.
When someone catches a fish, they will follow the steps on the jutsu scroll to cook the fish. Eveie and us orphans who knew this jutsu help and supervise them as well.
After a student has cooked and eaten a fish, they jump back into the water for another fish. This cycle continues for whoever wants to practice this jutsu.
Students can just play around the training ground and use it as play ground if they want to. Eveie's lectures are for volenteers only, no one is forced to take on the extra studyload.
