Chapter 2 - Episode 2

Episode 2: He Called Me by a Name I Didn't Remember

That night, I couldn't stop hearing his voice.

"I could never forget you. Not even after a thousand years."

It echoed through me like a forgotten melody. Haunting. Familiar. And terrifying.

I sat by the window, staring at the moon. Not the full one that hung in the sky now—but two crescent moons. That was what I'd seen in my dreams. Twin silver arcs floating above a field of fire and shadows.

I didn't know what scared me more—

That I was losing my mind…

Or that Kael might be telling the truth.

The next day at school, I tried to act normal.

Elise, thankfully, didn't ask too many questions. But I felt Kael before I saw him. His presence was heavy, magnetic, like the air shifted when he walked in.

He didn't speak to me during class. He just watched. As if I were a book he'd already read, trying to find which chapter I was on now.

When the bell rang, I nearly bolted out the door. But he was waiting.

"Lyra," he said softly. "Please. Just five minutes."

I should've said no.

But I didn't.

We sat beneath the old oak tree behind the school. No one ever came there—it was too quiet, too far. It felt like another world.

"I know it's a lot," Kael began, his voice gentle. "And I know it doesn't make sense to you. But I need you to listen."

I didn't reply. I was watching the way the wind moved through his dark hair. The way his eyes shimmered—not with light, but with sorrow.

"In your past life… you weren't just Lyra. You were the High Priestess of Elowen. You were powerful, kind… and sacred."

I laughed, bitterly. "That's impossible. I'm just a girl. I barely passed chemistry last week."

"You were chosen by the stars," he said, like it was fact. "You healed the sick. You spoke with the gods. And you—"

He paused.

"You loved me."

My breath caught.

Kael looked down, almost ashamed. "But I was your enemy. The Prince of Noctaria. Cursed before I was born. Our kingdoms were at war. They told us to kill each other."

He looked up, and I could see it—all of it—in his eyes.

"But we chose love. And they killed you for it."

I stood up. "This is crazy."

"I remember it all," he said, rising slowly. "The way you smiled when you touched the stars. The way your voice softened when you said my name. The way you died in my arms… bleeding… asking me to find you again."

My chest ached.

Tears filled my eyes, and I didn't even know why.

"I don't remember you," I whispered. "But something in me… feels like I should."

"That's enough," he said. "For now."

He reached into his coat and pulled out something small—a silver ring, ancient-looking, with a violet stone at its center.

"This was yours," he said. "From that life. It's been passed through my bloodline for centuries… waiting for you."

He placed it in my hand.

And the moment I touched it—

Flashes.

A temple of white stone. A sky filled with stars. My hands glowing with light. His face—young, desperate, kissing me in the rain. The feel of a dagger slicing through my back. My scream. His arms catching me.

I collapsed to my knees, gasping.

Kael knelt beside me, holding me steady.

"You saw it," he whispered.

I nodded, shaking. "I—I saw you."

"And you will see more. The memories… they're buried deep. But they're waking."

I looked at the ring still burning cold in my palm.

"What do I do now?" I asked.

Kael's voice was steady. "You choose. You always had a choice."

"To remember?"

"To love again."

That night, I didn't sleep.

Instead, I held the ring in my hand and stared at the sky, wondering if the stars remembered me too.

Because I was starting to believe him.

And something inside me—something ancient and hidden—was whispering:

He's telling the truth.
