Chapter 3 - "Room 72: Where Wolves Sniff and Bones Slap"

And then Arclemos took me to the student dormitory—a castle designated for all kinds of students.

Arclemos, smiling as if he had a surprise in store for me, said:

"Nekrios, here, take this. It's the key to your room—room number 72 at the end of the hallway.

Go there on your own now; I'll be busy, since I am the headmaster, haha.

Don't worry, I'll see you tomorrow, because that's when your first lessons begin here at the academy.

But before we start, we'll introduce you to the Seer to determine which division you belong to here.

So sleep well tonight and enjoy the company of your roommates."

Before I could even respond to him—or comment on his suspicious smile—I saw him vanish into thin air using his teleportation magic.

Dimensional transfer, basically... but very handy.

How I wish I had that ability back then—I might've escaped the torture and brutal death from the beginning.

Anyway...

After that, I headed to the dormitory—room 72—and when I opened the door, I was stunned.

One of my roommates was a warrior, with red hair, broad shoulders, extremely strong, and clearly strategic in battle.

You could tell just by his eyes.

But the other roommate...

He had animal-like traits despite being human, and he came up to me... sniffing.

Damn it—I realized right away. He was a dog.

(Nekrios, nervously)

"Uh, hi, I'm Nekrios, your new roommate. And, uh... why are you sniffing me? And... are you a dog?"

(The roommate)

"I'm not a dog, you idiot. I'm from the wolfkin race. I'm just curious.

You smell different—something new I've never encountered before.

Anyway, I'm Raven.

And the redhead over there is Kaeron."

(Raven, whispering)

"He doesn't talk much. And he's quick to anger.

Trust me, you do not want to see him when he's mad.

Once, he almost chopped my tail off just because I joked about the way his girlfriend looks."

(Kaeron opens one eye and stares at us, suppressing his rage)

"Did I just hear you whisper something about my girlfriend?"

(Raven, nervously raising his hands)

"N-no! Not at all! I swear!

I definitely don't want my tail chopped off."

(Kaeron, looking at me)

"And you... what was your name again, pale guy?"

(Nekrios)

"I'm just Nekrios. And don't worry—I don't bite."

At that moment, one of my tendrils popped out and waved in greeting before quickly retracting into my body.

(Raven, surprised)

"Dude, what the hell was that?"

(Nekrios)

"Don't worry, that was one of my bone tendrils. I've got six of them, all under my skin, on my back.

They're kind of annoying sometimes, because they have minds of their own.

Even though I was resurrected just a few hours ago, I've already taken a ridiculous number of slaps from them—wait…

One... two...

Yeah, around 14 slaps."

(Kaeron stares for a moment, then bursts into laughter)

"Hahahaha, damn!

You got slapped by parts of your own body? Pffft—hahahahahaha!"

(Raven stares at me, thinking)

"Well, that explains the strange scent.

It must've been them, hiding."

(Nekrios, sighing)

"Yeah... whether it's them or not, I don't even care anymore.

It's a new body—I haven't figured out all its abilities yet, but it's incredibly powerful.

What really annoys me is the pale skin.

Death literally passed through me, man.

Anyway, where do I sleep in here?

And I'd appreciate it if one of you could give me a quick two-minute tour of the place."

At that moment

Kaeron shoved Raven forward, clearly volunteering him to be the dorm's tour guide.

(Raven)

"Alright, alright! I'll do it.

Look, since you're new here—first, that's the bathroom at the end of the hallway.

Look, hold on, I'll open it—"

As soon as he opened the door, a putrid stench poured out—like something had died and rotted four times over inside that bathroom.

(Raven, holding his sensitive nose)

"Ugh—damn it!

Kaeron! It was your turn to clean today. What happened to your duties?"

(Kaeron)

"What? I always do my tasks at the last minute—did you forget, or what?"

(Raven)

"Forget? Of course not!

But we didn't expect a new roommate to show up, and the first thing he sees is this!

So please, just get to it—start cleaning now!"

(Kaeron, lazily getting up from the couch)

"Fine, you idiot... I'll clean.

Show him the rest."

(Raven)

"Thank you, thank you so much for this sudden burst of kindness.

Right, where were we?

Ah, yes—Nekrios, in front of you now is the rest of the dorm:

A medium-sized kitchen, in case you want to cook something for yourself.

There's just one bedroom, but it's huge—easily enough space for all of us, so don't worry.

And over here is the balcony.

And that marks the end of the grand dorm tour—ta-da!

Damn, I hate my life as a wolf."

After that, I stepped away from them and sat down on the bed.

It was incredibly comfortable.

And at that moment, I decided—

to sleep for the first time in this insane world.

To be continued...
