Chapter 2 - CHAPTER ONE

CHAPTER ONE

 GILLINAN ARMSTRONG P0V

Time and time again have my vacation been cut short always because of a situation at work. Upon my arrival at the scene of the crime I am faced and trapped by a heavy down pour, the rain heavily splashing against the ground with a fast flash of lightning making an overlapping sound like a crashing thunder. The light from the lightning reveals to me the body of young lady probably in her late 20's lying on the ground as spontaneous light of cameras flashed against her fame. In my mind I draw three conclusions right about her, the first which shows more about her youth, the second which told about her beauty that many men would be crazy about and my last conclusion was that she is dead and no longer with us. Slowly and gradually the intensity of the rain reduces before many members of the GPD (Ghana Police Department) made their entry, some came in heavily drenched by the cold water that the heavens had released. The forensics team quickly invested around every area of the crime scene, after all there was no time to lose. They gather every sort of valuable information that could help us catch the killer, a man approaches me with some files and leads me away from the scene to talk about some matters involving the crime. The man I am talking about is called Dr. Awal who particularly handles every forensics job in all my cases, his hair is disheveled, and his clothes are awfully dried and ironed as if he means to enrage everyone here since everyone including me is soaked.

"LAWSON, you have quite the challenging case on your hands this time", he said.

Flashing a smile which I could tell was placing a lot more emphasis on "Lawson" which isn't my name, but the meaning always changes with him mentioning it, he mentions it in something like this "Losing" which is based on my tendency to lose and forget things easily. Mostly I would curse at him

but now wasn't the time to do so.

"What do you mean by that Awal?" I asked adding a bit of restraint to my words.

His hands gestured me to look at the forensic report and it was ... blank? No it is impossible! The data showed that there are no fingerprints, no signs of struggle, no footmarks of the killer even the victims footmarks were not hers no sign of poisoning and no visible wounds, normally I would argue that this report is flawed but knowing Awal, he is probably think of other means of finding the killer inside his head. But now, what is next? The killer left no clues to begin with and no witness to interrogate but only one thing remains unhidden about this crime.

"Awal give me a vivid profile on the victim", I ordered.

''Her name is Theresa Mensah, 25 years of age and a trainee at the forensics department, top of her badge too. She is still single and lives in Accra, well used too'', Awal said.

By the look of his face, I could find several pieces of puzzles forming within his eyes, his expression looked somewhat weird but on the bright side he was actually working with the data he has now.

"I got it!'', he shouted so loud that everyone turned to look at him.

He tugged me on the sleeve then gestured me to bring my head down, his eyes gleaming with intense interest one that is a bad sign for us all (well with Awal himself being the only exception).

''This gig was planned'', he said still smiling like a little kid.

"No shit Sherlock", I uttered as no one didn't notice.

"No Gil, this kind of planning doesn't take a months, weeks and days, this kind take years of practice and dedication----

He paused for a moment then handed over two pictures of the victim, one of her when she was alive and the other is of her in her current state. The two pictures held only one difference and that was the loss of warmth from her face.

"Gil…this crime isn't the kind that the police or even Ghana has seen before. Whoever planned this isn't some first-time killer'', He paused as he ran his hands through his hair.

All that he said was chilling but there wasn't even a single shred of fear to be seen in his eyes, to Awal death comes for us all so he sees no reason why he should panic or feel depressed about it.

"So did you track down any leads?''

I asked and he shrugged; we are basically sitting ducks at this point. The only clue we will have been after a new dead body pops up on our radar. Awal brings out his phone then type quickly types something on it, I don't know what he typed but I wouldn't want to get myself involved in something like that.

''I have sent the location of an old friend of ours to you, with a case like this only one person comes into mind",

I checked my phone almost instantly before realizing the one Awal was hinting at, an old friend who was much like a brother to us all. The lazy genius among us............ this murder is too perfect to simply call it a crime; it is more like an execution from a deity.
