Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 – Her Man

"How dare you deceive the director right under her nose."

"Dr. Jin, do you still care about your future?"

Every word Su Wanwan uttered struck fear into Dr. Jin's heart.

"You... you..."How did Su Wanwan find out? No—how did she find out so quickly?

"Oh, I almost forgot to tell you," Su Wanwan said calmly."I'm Liangmu's wife.""Did you not know that he's already married?"

With deliberate precision, she smoothed the collar of her white coat, her voice cold and forceful.

"Dr. Jin,""Please, stay away from my man."

Hearing this, Fu Liangmu looked at Su Wanwan with obvious interest. The way she defended him was like a bristling kitten, adorably fierce.

Dr. Jin shot Su Wanwan a venomous glare before hurriedly gathering her things and leaving in a flustered rush.

Su Wanwan closed the door behind her, her eyes like ice as she stared at Fu Liangmu.

"If I hadn't come back in time, were you planning to bring home a mistress?"

Fu Liangmu chuckled."Are you jealous?"

Su Wanwan averted her gaze."You helped me, so I figured I ought to return the favor. Fair exchange, after all."

A hint of disappointment flickered in Fu Liangmu's heart."Is that so?""Mhm."

He glanced at the cake box and noticed the cake inside had tilted to one side, the cream smeared all over.He could imagine how anxiously Su Wanwan must have rushed back.

"Didn't you say you wouldn't be home for another half hour? Why so soon?"

He asked knowingly.

Su Wanwan was momentarily speechless.

She had just bought the cake when she received a message from Uncle Zhang, saying that the old lady had once again stirred up trouble and called a doctor to treat Fu Liangmu.Su Wanwan immediately investigated and discovered that this Dr. Jin was not the one originally scheduled.Sensing something amiss, she rushed over without delay.

She didn't answer his question, instead retorting,"Seems you've attracted more than a fair share of admirers."

Even with his face burned like this, women were still throwing themselves at him.How deep must their infatuation be?

"Still nothing compared to you, Madam."

The word Madam instantly turned Su Wanwan's face crimson. She cleared her throat awkwardly and got up, intending to leave.

Unexpectedly, Fu Liangmu grabbed her wrist, his palm burning hot.

"May I have a taste of your cake?"

Su Wanwan nodded."Go ahead, if you want it."

Fu Liangmu opened the box and took out the misshapen dessert. He scooped up some cream and held it near her lips.

"I don't want it."

Su Wanwan leaned back, avoiding the gesture.Fu Liangmu tasted it himself and nodded."It's very sweet."

"Then have more."

And he did—without restraint—one bite after another.

The cake was small. Soon, two-thirds had disappeared.

Su Wanwan rested her chin on her hand, watching him with slight astonishment.A boy who loved sweets wasn't something she saw often.

The more Fu Liangmu ate, the more he sensed something was wrong. His head drooped, the fringe of his hair hiding his expression.

Su Wanwan soon went to shower, not expecting to return and find him still sitting there, frozen in the same posture.

"You're not finished yet?"

She walked past him to the vanity, picked up the hairdryer, and began drying her hair.

Suddenly, Fu Liangmu, silent until now, lunged toward her!

Before Su Wanwan could react, he had pulled her to the edge of the bed.

"Ah…"

Something wasn't right. His eyes were tinged red, his breath heavier than usual. Most alarmingly, his entire body radiated a feverish heat.

A sudden realization struck Su Wanwan:The aromatic candle lit by Dr. Jin must have contained something illicit.

She had seen that the wax was almost gone and assumed it wouldn't affect him.She hadn't thought to warn him.

She had been wrong.

"Fu Liangmu, calm down!"

Her voice trembled as she spoke. She should've told him earlier. Now she had brought this trouble on herself.

"Wanwan…"

"Listen to me—the dosage shouldn't be strong!"She raised her arm in front of her to keep some distance."Go take a cold shower—now! That might still help. I'll call the doctor right away to give you a sedative!"

"It's too late…"

"No, it's not! There's still time!"Su Wanwan looked toward the door.Never had such a short distance felt so far.

"Five minutes—I can reach the family doctor in five minutes! Fifteen minutes tops and he'll be here!"

Fu Liangmu chuckled lowly by her ear, his magnetic voice tinged with hoarseness—irresistibly alluring.

"What are you afraid of?"

"We're simply doing what we didn't on our wedding night."

A shiver shot down Su Wanwan's spine.

"Aren't you my wife?"

"And as my wife, isn't this… your obligation?"

She swallowed hard. The memory of that night in the hotel flashed in her mind—To this day, she still didn't know who had taken her virginity.

That incident was a shadow she hadn't yet moved past. And now, it was happening again.

She couldn't handle it.

"Fu Liangmu, listen to me—"Su Wanwan's mind raced for a way to reason with him.

"You… you're still not fully recovered—"

"But you already know I'm not ill, don't you?"

That moment when he had a nosebleed—they had both known the truth.

"I…"

"Wanwan, don't be afraid."

Su Wanwan shook her head violently."No. No way. Absolutely not!"

Fu Liangmu looked at her, his desire held in check by sheer force of will.

"Can you really bear to see me suffer like this?"

"Fu Liangmu, I don't care what you say today. The answer is no! If you—mmph!"

Before she could finish, Fu Liangmu lowered his head and kissed her fiercely.

The instant their lips met, her mind went blank with a buzzing roar.

A burning hand slid down to her waist…
