Chapter 6 - The tomb shook

The volcano under the riverbed began to move, and the crowd was caught off guard and almost fell. I hurriedly climbed a relatively gentle slope, sat down and took a few breaths, and was shocked, but I saw that the shaking of the ground was becoming more and more violent, and the mountain wall formed by volcanic rock could collapse at any time.

Luo Ning said that there is not necessarily a volcanic eruption, it should just be the periodic activity of the volcano, and the time of this activity cycle is uncertain, it may occur once every few days, or it may occur only once in hundreds of thousands of years. Volcanoes are also divided into many kinds, the common ones

Volcanoes in the shape of inverted horn chimneys are formed after large-scale eruptions, and some volcanoes, although not extinct volcanoes, have not erupted for tens of thousands of years, and have been buried deep in the ground, occasionally shaking.

But no matter how many years it is active, we're unlucky, just in time. I wanted to look for an exit along the underground river, but the river below was boiling, and if I went down, I had to turn it into dumplings boiled in a pot.

A few hundred meters above my head, a slender white light appeared, and my eyes were glazed and my eyes tingled, what was that? Could it be some kind of long-extinct creature?

Luo Ning was pleasantly surprised: "It's the sky!" It's the sky! "

The shaking of the underground volcano caused an earthquake, and the earth above me cracked a gap, and I hadn't seen the sky outside for so long that I almost forgot what the sky was like, whether it was blue or white.

I said to the rest: "Comrades, it is really an endless road, persevering to the end is victory, for the sake of New China, move forward!" "

The four people, who were already exhausted, suddenly saw the hope of escape, and with infinite strength in the flat ground, they pulled their legs apart, rounded their arms, and desperately climbed up the slope.

The vibrations below became more and more intense, the heat wave was pressing, and the strong smell of sulfur choked people's brains. We were worried that the crack would be closed by the earthquake again, and everyone wanted to get out as fast as possible, and they all made a 100-meter sprint on a steep 45-degree slope.

The higher you go, the more broken the volcanic rocks become, some of them are like sand, it is difficult to gain a foothold, climb up three feet, and fall back two feet, the skin on your hands is worn off, and you don't care about the pain, you clench your teeth, and even kick and plane, and the height of five or six hundred meters is as difficult as a long march through a snow-capped mountain. After exhausting all his physical strength, he finally returned to the ground.

Blue sky and white clouds, the mountains on both sides are undulating, the place we climbed up is a section of the Kunlun River valley, and it is also the lowest area in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, only a few kilometers away from the ice-free spring military station of the first daoban.

Luo Ning's physical strength is not good, Gawa has a foot injury, the two of them fell behind at the last moment, I didn't care about resting, and hurriedly strung the armed belts on the two people with the big man, and hung them down for Luo Ning to pull.

The earthquake became more and more violent, and this crack more than one meter wide could collapse at any time, Luo Ning and Gawa could only hold on to the belt tightly, and slid down a step when they stepped on it, and they couldn't climb up even half an inch.

The big man and I used all our strength to pull up, but no matter how strong the two of us were, we couldn't pull them up at the same time. At this time, Gawa let go of the strap and held Luo Ning hard underneath, plus we pulled her up from the crack in one fell swoop.

When I wanted to throw the strap down again to save Gawa, a violent tremor came, and the earth closed together again, and Gawa was squeezed alive in the middle.

In the low temperature of minus 20 degrees, our coats and hats were long gone, and the three of them, forgetting about the cold, wore only thin clothes, and wept while digging in vain with their hands and bayonets for the sand and gravel on the ground...

Three days later, I was lying on my bed in the hospital of the military region, and the chief of staff of the military region held my hand and cordially expressed his condolences: "Comrade Xiaohu, you have behaved very bravely this time, and on behalf of the Central Military Commission, I would like to express my condolences to you, and I hope that you will recover as soon as possible and make new contributions on the revolutionary road." What do you think? Are you feeling okay now? "

I replied, "Thank you for your concern, I still ... Also ... ... also "I want to say it's okay, but when I think of those comrades-in-arms who will leave me forever, Xiaolin, Gawa, instructor, and second squad leader, the word "good" is held in my chest, and I can't say it.

As Churchill said, there are no eternal friends and no eternal enemies in the world, only eternal interests.

In 1969, due to the needs of the international situation, my unit was sent to the depths of the Kunlun Mountains for construction, because the environment was too harsh, the progress of the project was unexpectedly slow, and in three years, dozens of commanders and fighters died on the construction site, but the military facility we built had only just completed two-thirds of the way.

At this time, the world situation was reshuffled, and in 1972, Nixon's visit to China thawed Sino-US relations. China's strategic deployment has been readjusted on a large scale, the projects in the Kunlun Mountains have been stopped, and we, the engineers who have been left halfway, have been reorganized back into the battle sequence of the field army and are subordinate to the Lanzhou Military Region.

Day after day, year after year, training, drills, exercises, study, and commentary, the barracks life is not only monotonous, but also arduous. A few years later, the Cultural Revolution ended, the Party Central Committee put things in order, the Gang of Four was crushed, and after a full decade of catastrophe, social order finally returned to normal.

However, the army is a special environment that is out of touch with society, and I did not feel much change in the barracks, except that I no longer need to recite Chairman Mao's quotations as soon as we meet as in the past, but whenever new recruits enter the barracks, they still have to be given revolutionary education.

This morning, as soon as I returned from a meeting at the battalion headquarters, the correspondent Xiao Liu ran over out of breath: "Report to the company commander, there is a platoon of recruits who have come to report for duty today, but the instructor has gone to the military region to study, so please go and talk about revolution and tradition to the recruits." "

Talking about revolution and tradition is actually telling the recruits about the history of the company. I'm a layman for these, but I'm also the head of a company now, and the instructor is not at home, so I have to bite the bullet.

I took these more than 30 recruits into the company's honor exhibition room, pointed to a pennant embroidered with the words "Fighting Hero Company" and told them that this was the honor achieved by the predecessors of our sixth company in the Huaihai Campaign, and this title has been retained to this day. I added insult to the story of that tragic battle, how our Sixth Company saw the red with bayonets and how it repelled the frantic attack of an entire regiment of Kuomintang reactionaries with bayonets when it ran out of ammunition and food, and gloriously completed the task of blocking the attack assigned by the superiors.

Then I pointed to a black broken iron pot in the glass cabinet and told the recruits: "Comrades, don't underestimate this broken pot, on the battlefield of the Huaihai Campaign, the revolutionary predecessors of our Sixth Company went to the battlefield to kill the enemy and make meritorious contributions after eating the pork stewed vermicelli noodles burned in this broken pot. You see, the cracks in this pot were blown up by the reactionary artillery fire of the Kuomintang reactionaries, and to this day, it is still silently telling the deeds of the heroes and the brutality of the reactionaries. "

That's all I can say, after all, I'm not a professional in charge of ideological work, but I think I'm pretty good, and it's more than enough to get these recruits.

I asked the recruits to disband and go to the cafeteria to eat, and I walked behind them with Xiao Liu, and I asked Xiao Liu: "Just now, the company commander talked about revolution and tradition, how did he speak?" "

Xiao Liu said: "Oh, company commander, what a thief is good, I can listen to it, when will we learn from the revolutionary martyrs, improve the food, and eat pork stewed vermicelli?" "

I swallowed my saliva and played Xiao Liu's brain: "I haven't heard the revolutionary tradition at all, just the fucking I heard the pork stewed vermicelli, go and get me to the canteen to get food, today the canteen seems to eat steamed buns, and if you go late, you will let those recruits snatch up their eggs." I command you, run forward! "

Xiao Liu agreed, shook off his stride and rushed to the cafeteria, I suddenly remembered the most important sentence and forgot to tell him, and hurriedly shouted behind: "Pick a few big stuffing for me!" "

I lay on the bed, eating steamed buns, while looking at the letter that had just been sent from my home, everything was fine at home, and nothing important was mentioned. After reading it twice, I put the letter aside and picked up the remnants of my family's ancestral book, which I had a great interest in the science of feng shui in the past few years, so I took it out and read it when I had time.

Because there are a lot of nouns such as the Five Elements Bagua Yi Shu mentioned in this book, such as what is the Eastern Jiayimu, the Southern Bingdinghuo, the Central Wujitu, the Western Gengxinjin, the Northern Nonqishui, what Qian, Kan, Gen, Zhen, Kun, Dui, Li, Wei, etc., there are many incomprehensible points, I have found a lot of books to read over the years, although the level of education is limited, I can still deal with it and understand three or four percent.

The sixteen characters of Yin and Yang Feng Shui Secret Art refer to the following: heaven, earth, people, ghosts, gods, Buddhas, demons, animals, deterrence, town, escape, matter, transformation, yin, yang, and emptiness.

I don't know what age this book is, and I don't know who wrote it, but the content inside is very profound, the sixty-four changes of Fuxi gossip should actually be sixteen hexagrams, passed to the Yin Shang period, because these sixteen hexagrams leaked the heavenly secrets, and half of them were erased by the gods, and even the remaining gossip hexagrams are not complete. However, people who can understand one or two points are already extremely powerful, thinking that Zhuge Kongming, knowing a little bit about one or two, can ensure that Liu Bei is strategizing and dominating the world; Liu Bowen could only solve three points, so he assisted Zhu Hongwu to build the foundation of the Ming Dynasty for 400 years. But I don't believe in these, can it really be so evil?

The only regret is that this book only talks about the layout and structure of the five elements of Feng Shui, and the other half of the book of Yin and Yang Bagua Taiji has not been available since it was passed into the hands of my grandfather. Some of the content of the fragment is incoherent, and the text is obscure, making it difficult to understand its meaning. If it's the whole book, it should be easier to understand.

Suddenly, a three-long and three-short assembly horn sounded, piercing the quiet air in the barracks, and my first thought was: "Something must have happened, and the whole camp will never be urgently assembled in broad daylight for no reason." I shoved the remaining two buns into my mouth, bounced off the bed and rushed out the door.

Columns lined up neatly, and I saw that not only our battalion was assembled, but the whole regiment was assembled. A junior officer like me is not qualified to know what the action is, but only to obey orders and listen to commands. We were ordered to go to the railway station and stand by and set off with our brother troops.

There were more than 10,000 people, like mountains and seas, and at the military railway station, it was crowded with tens of thousands of soldiers, and from a distance it looked like a green tide, and it seemed that the entire division had been dispatched. At that time, it was terrible that a division could be mobilized, and the main division like ours was very large, with three infantry regiments, an artillery regiment, a tank regiment, and the logistics units of the division headquarters, which could almost have more than 20,000 people. What exactly is such a large-scale operation going to do? I don't think it's going to the disaster.,I haven't heard of any disasters around here lately..

We were dragged all the way to the Yunnan border by the tin can truck, and then everyone understood that this was going to be a war, and many people cried at that time...

At the same time, Deng Xiaoping, who was visiting the United States, made a surprising statement at the White House: "Children who are disobedient should be spanked." And openly admitted that there was a massive build-up of Chinese troops on the Sino-Vietnamese border.

In the early morning of 17 February, 220,000 PLA troops from 17 divisions attacked all the way to Lang Son, and on 4 March, China announced its withdrawal.

My company was the sharp knife company of the main division, and it took the lead, and after ten days of fighting, more than half of the casualties were lost. During one of our marches, we were ambushed by Vietnamese agents who, using women with small children as cover, threw explosive packs into our armoured personnel carriers, killing all eight of my fighters. At that time, my eyes were red and I captured two Vietnamese militiamen alive.

They are an old Vietnamese man in his fifties, and a Vietnamese woman in his twenties, who seem to be father and daughter. One of my subordinates told me that the woman had disguised herself as a baby in her arms and threw the bag into the armoured vehicle as she passed by. Definitely looks good, she did it.

What I feared most was to watch my comrades die in front of me, fight in a fit of rage, and forget all about the three disciplines and the eight points of attention and our army's policy on treating prisoners.

This incident seriously violated the discipline of the troops, and even alarmed President Xu of the headquarters. If it weren't for the fact that my family had a deep background in the military region, I would have been sent to a military court long ago, and my military career was forced to end here, and I returned to my hometown with a demobilization order.
