Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: A Promise to a Mother

After listening, Gu Feng felt a mix of emotions. He quietly gazed out the window at Ye Lingling's innocent smile and lonely figure.

Having been isolated in school due to his inability to fit in during his previous life, he could deeply understand this sense of loneliness.

Looking at Ye Qingqiu's weary yet hopeful face, Gu Feng nodded heavily, "Alright, Auntie, I promise you."

This was a promise to a mother!

Hearing this, Ye Qingqiu seemed to breathe a sigh of relief, "Thank you!"

Then, the two walked out of the room.

Ye Lingling was squatting in a corner of the yard, playing happily with a little yellow dog.

"Woof! Woof!"

She held a small branch in her hand, gently shaking it to tease the dog, her laughter as pleasant as the sound of silver bells occasionally ringing out.

Hearing movement behind her, Ye Lingling paused, her eyes instinctively turning towards the source of the sound.

When she saw it was her mother and Gu Feng approaching, she immediately stopped what she was doing, carefully put down the little yellow dog she was holding, and returned to her usual quiet demeanor, obediently saying, "Mom."

Ye Qingqiu's face was adorned with a gentle smile as she softly said, "It's alright, Lingling, you can keep playing. Is this dog from Old Liu next door?"

Ye Lingling absentmindedly replied, "Yes."

Her eyes were full of reluctance towards the dog, her fingers unconsciously tugging at the hem of her clothes, clearly still immersed in the joy of playing with the dog.

Ye Qingqiu took in her daughter's expression and sighed slightly. She knew Ye Lingling's personality too well; even if she liked something, she wouldn't say it.

Ye Qingqiu gently stroked Ye Lingling's head and suggested, "How about we buy it? Then it can stay with you forever."

"Really?"

Ye Lingling's eyes instantly lit up, her hands unconsciously clenching, "Mom, are you serious? Can we really keep it?"

"Of course," Ye Qingqiu smiled warmly.

"That's great! Kabu Kabu!" Ye Lingling picked up the little yellow dog, spinning around in sheer delight.

The little yellow dog seemed to understand their conversation, barking twice as if in agreement.

Even Gu Feng couldn't help but chuckle at the sight.

Indeed, no girl could resist the charm of something fluffy.

Looking up at the sky and feeling it was about time, Gu Feng took the opportunity to bid farewell.

Ye Qingqiu gently patted Ye Lingling's shoulder and said softly, "Lingling, Xiao Feng is leaving, say goodbye to him."

Ye Lingling turned to look at Gu Feng, her eyes filled with gratitude. If it weren't for Gu Feng's visit today, which had been a great help, she might not have been able to see her mother in a few days.

Though Ye Lingling had a thousand words she wanted to express, her naturally reserved personality made it hard for her to speak. After a moment of hesitation, her lips moved slightly, and she finally whispered two words, "Thank you."

Gu Feng smiled lightly, "It's nothing, let's consider it an equivalent exchange. This Spring of Life is truly priceless."

Then, Gu Feng waved to the two as a gesture of farewell and turned to leave the Ye residence.

...

At the Crown Prince's residence.

"You brat, are you sure you're here to do me a favor?"

Xue Qinghe's forehead creased with a few black lines, looking at the Gu Feng who barely reached her waist with a mix of helplessness and amusement.

Gu Feng pointed at his clear and bright eyes, speaking earnestly, "It's true, Brother Xue! Look into my eyes, so sincere. Can't you trust your brother?"

His genuine expression almost convinced Xue Qinghe, if not for the fact that she knew he was always full of tricks.

Just as Xue Qinghe was about to react, she suddenly found herself momentarily stunned by him.

The last time she saw Gu Feng was several years ago, when he was just a mischievous little kid, no different from any other naughty child.

But now, he had transformed remarkably.

Gu Feng was strikingly different from Gu Rong's gaunt and weathered appearance.

With his delicate and handsome features, Gu Feng exuded a natural boyish charm.

Unknowingly, he had struck a chord with the girlish heart hidden deep within Xue Qinghe.

Sss—so cute!

Gu Feng chuckled, "Well, there is indeed a tiny little problem I need your help with, hehe... Brother Xue, as Uncle Ning's disciple, you wouldn't leave me in the lurch, would you?"

Xue Qinghe snapped out of her daze and couldn't help but snort, "Hmph, I knew you wouldn't come to me for anything good. Speak up, what is it? Don't try to play games with me."

Despite her words, seeing Gu Feng's demeanor, her guard unconsciously relaxed a bit.

"It's nothing major. I just want a complete record of the rare Soul Beasts on the continent."

"That's it?"

"Yep."

Xue Qinghe waved her hand, signaling someone to bring it in, and said somewhat helplessly, "I really don't know what you're thinking. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School has such extensive records, yet you come to me for this."

"Hehe..." Gu Feng just smiled without saying a word.

Of course, it's because you're the Holy Maiden of the Spirit Hall.

When it comes to Soul Beasts, who could have more extensive records than the Spirit Hall?

Although Gu Feng wasn't sure if she would give it to him, he decided to take a gamble. After all, losing wouldn't cost him much.

After a while, a man in a black robe approached, holding a bundle of records, and knelt respectfully, "Your Highness."

Xue Qinghe waved her hand, "Give it to him."

"Yes!"

Taking the Soul Beast records from the black-robed man, Gu Feng eagerly flipped through them. When he saw the Spirit Hall's signature, he knew he had gambled correctly.

Indeed!

Even though the young lady had been in Heaven Dou for many years, when it came to knowledge about Soul Masters, she still leaned more towards the Spirit Hall.

After all, no matter how much one's appearance mimics another, the heart doesn't lie.

Especially in such trivial matters, when making subconscious choices.

"Brother Xue, now I'm going to tell you about the benefits I know..." Gu Feng slowly moved closer.

"Oh?" Xue Qinghe felt a bit of anticipation. What could these benefits be?

"I have Innate Full Soul Power! And I firmly support you. How about that? Is this benefit big enough?"

Gu Feng's words were not only meant to reassure Qian Renxue but also to reassure the Spirit Hall behind her.

He didn't want to be inexplicably assassinated by that crazy woman Bibidong someday.

Xue Qinghe was momentarily stunned, then the corners of her mouth uncontrollably twitched upwards, a glimmer of barely concealed delight flashing in her eyes.

Unexpectedly, this usually carefree brat turned out to have Innate Full Soul Power! He's truly a rare and promising seedling!

"Brother Xue, I'll take my leave now!" After saying that, Gu Feng immediately ran out of the Crown Prince's residence.

Watching his retreating figure, Xue Qinghe couldn't help but smile slightly. He waved his hand towards the shadows: "Uncle She."

As soon as the words fell, a tall and straight gray-haired old man appeared: "Young Master."

"Follow him and see what kind of Soul Ring he will hunt for."

"Yes! Young Master."

As She Long left, Xue Qinghe brushed the golden hair by his ear and murmured to himself: "Innate Full Soul Power alone is not enough to impress me. Let's see how far you can go..."

...

Not long after Gu Feng left the Crown Prince's residence, Electrolux's voice suddenly rang in his heart: "Little Fengzi, someone is following you."

"Old Yi, can you tell roughly how strong they are?" Gu Feng's heart tightened, and he quickly asked.

"Although much weaker compared to those old monsters in your sect, they are still in the same league."

A Titled Douluo?

Just as Gu Feng was about to ask further.

Electrolux said: "Although my strength has not recovered much, covering the eyes of an ant is as easy as turning over my hand."

Gu Feng couldn't help but marvel in his heart. As expected of the Necromantic Saint Magic God, truly domineering.

"By the way, Old Yi, does that catalog have the Soul Beast we need?"

It turned out that as soon as Gu Feng got the Soul Beast catalog, he immediately handed it over to Electrolux.

After all, compared to reading these dry and boring things himself, it was better to let Electrolux handle it.

Since the soul body had nothing to do inside the Soul Guidance Ring, it was better to let him study.

After all, rather than improving himself, it was better to trouble others.

Old Yi only needed to consider the catalog and make suggestions, while Gu Feng had much more to think about.

As soon as his words fell.

The Soul Guidance Ring suddenly emitted a burst of birdsong and floral fragrance...

Gu Feng quickly shielded the Soul Guidance Ring.

After a long time, it seemed that Electrolux was also tired, and he said faintly: "Next, let's go to the Far North. There is..."
